I am not really biased when it comes to both eras of Van Halen. I must admit in the late Seventies, they were more of a heavy metal band than the stadium rock gladiators that they would become after teaming up with Hagar in the Eighties. But 5150 is one of my favourite albums ever and i’d say Sammy got off to a good start with Van Halen. However I have learned to appreciate both eras, regardless of the differences. But that is my opinion and I am sure some of you may disagree. And it’s fine by me. Van Halen were the first rock band I ever got into and that is still there to this day. They are without a doubt the greatest good time rock band and I get chills down my spine putting their records on.

HAGAR OWNS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Before Hagar, Van Halen was just another rock band. Then Hagar joins the band, and their songs have substance. I’ve seen Van Halen with both Lee Roth and Hagar, and the Hagar shows are much better. I saw both DLR and Sammy live with their solo bands, and Sammy owns… I went to that co-headlining tour with the two, and Hagar’s set blew Dave’s away.

ROTH LOST “IT” YEARS AGO IN MY OPINION BUT STILL LOVE TO SEE THE ORIGINAL BAND TOGETHER. STILL HOPING MICHEAL ANTHONY COMES BACK. I MISS THE JACK DANIELS BASS….

Roth is a showman and a great vocalist.Sammy is great for sure!,but live Roth takes it all,a live monster.He performs with more intensity making the band vanhalen a power house live.
