I don't remember if I knew what it was. It was just David Bowie and Queen that inspired me and I wanted to play guitar and sing and be just like them. My mother wouldn't allow me to go see Areosmith but I sneeked out and saw them anyway I think I was grounded for months but who cared I saw Areosmith and Foreigner and some new guys never heard them they were pretty good from Austrailia AC/DC and I was hooked. I was just born to Rock! My mom was not going to stop me sadly she and dad never really understood.

My mother & aunt were into rock in the 80s so I was raised on it and it was normal for me to hear. My aunt was the biggest GNR freak ever. My mother was in love with Def Leppard.

I inherited some of my aunts cassettes and vinyls like Def Leppard, Cinderella, Whitesnake, Motley Crue, GNR & Pantera.

My first CD was Blizzard of Ozz, my pa gave it to me in second grade. He was more of a classic rock guy, I have videos of me when I was a baby and my dad is playing with me and you can hear Pink Floyd in the background! I started getting into glam a few years later. I don't know why but its like addictive!!! Hot guys with awesome hair and perfect make-up, and to top it off amazing music!!!!! I also like punk and classic too though. So thanks to my hippy parents that almost named me 'Buttercup' for the great tunage!!!!

it was an interesting story with me. when i was in year 8, about 2006 i was trying to fit in, listenin to all that rap crap. then one day i had enough of it because i was sick of the emptyness and stupidity of rap. so i tsrated to get into anything i could find that was heavy or good eg aerosmith, iron maiden etc. Then one day my business teacher showed me Love Gun by kiss and it evolved from there. eventually i went on to look at many of the bands i grew up with like motley crue and guns n roses, and started to love these bands. i got dirty looks and got treated like a weirdo until i graduated last year from school, but it was all worth it to listen to the great music that we call glam ^^

My Dad playing Guns N' Roses and Bon Jovi in the car when I was about 4-years-old, I loved the energy of the music- especially from Guns N' Roses. After that I began to explore the genre myself and started listening to other bands such as Poison, White Snake and Def Leppard. I began to love the rock image when I was about 11/12 and I got my first leather jacket and pair of cow boy boots! <3

I always liked my music harder but what really got me into rock was the underground Leningrad (Now St. Petersburg in Russia) rock band KINO. It didn't have the traditional rock sound but it was really got me into the music. The band split up when the lead singer, Viktor Tsoi, died in a car crash in 1990.

Guns n' Roses or Kiss, I'm not sure what came first. I think it's Kiss, though while I was really into Kiss few years ago, I wasn't into glam style or anything. But when I started listening to Guns, I WANTED to dress like them, I just wanted.

I got into glam around the 2006 point, though I grew up in a very 80s music environment, my mother was into various music from the 80s, lots of new wave, punk, and the odd hair metal band. I really picked up on glam though when I heard Motley Crue's "Kickstart My Heart" on the radio, I loved it!!! They were my first favorite glam band, hands down, but shortly after that I got into collecting vinyl records, shopping around at flea markets and stuff, and one day finally found 2 of the most amazing records, and these 2 records kickstarted my love for this genre of music! I found Faster Pussycat's first album, and Poison's "Open Up And Say...Ahh!" I was the happiest bitch on the planet, I played those suckers over and over haha. Then I started collecting cassette tapes, which I'm so glad I have a huge collection of because my car (also very 80s, an 1984 Camero Z28..score!) has a tape deck, so I can play all the good stuff when I get that baby on the road! Then I started with the hair and the clothes, etc etc, and I am the way I am now because of those two damn records haha

I was in radio for about 10 years. It was a high school/college station but the format was hard rock/metal. I think it was that , that really got me into it. The free records, the backstage passes led to me seeing the attitudes of some of the best talent that has ever played music. There was alot of crap out , just horrific music there back then, but there was also great talent. It all started for me as a kid maybe, I remember coming home from elementary school, walking next door to the neighbors house and just talking to him about nothing while he worked on his car in the driveway, he had some old Chevrolet Impala so something he would always work on. This was the middle 1970s. Hed always have the Hi-Fi stereo 8-track on in his garage. Always on KYA FM, listening to Sweet, Black Sabbath , Heart, Led Zeppelin, Lynyrd Skynyrd , Alice Cooper, Kiss and so on. Man I wish id have kept all that Kiss stuff from back then. But when your a kid you dont think to keep anything like that. After years of doing this in my youth the die was cast, I would listen to Rock forever.

Rocker chicks were hot also.

My dad gave me ACDC's let there be rock album when i was 11. That's where the rock started for me. And when i was about 12 or 13 y/o i started buying vinyl records. Thats where the glam came by, cause i loved the albumcovers of some records and just took them home with me. Lovely music as well!
After that i learned to know a lot of bands by watching rockthology documentairy 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5

It's been a lifelong thing for me really, all I've ever known.
My parents raised me on their favourite rock/metal bands that they themselves grew up with, so yes, that included glam.
Through my life I've just come to love all the old skool rock and metal.
I love it, live it and I'm not leaving it anytime soon!

Well I'm gonna be Honest my ex-Fiancee' got me into Glam. But befor he got me deep into it, I all ready Dressed with Due-Rags/Bandannas with Chains an spiked dog Collars. But after He got me into lisening Motley Crue/Cheap trick and a few other bands I got way deeper then I intended, but I enjoyed it. I even played W.A.S.P's Song at a rodeo I was at when I ran Barrels, I played his song "Harder Faster" Every Redneck an so Called Cowboy thought I have lost my mind. But the main reson I love Glam I can relate to the Singers an how they Exprassed there feelings a thoughts. Cause being honest they ain't any diffrent then any person on earth, they just have more Balls then others to show how they truley relate to life an how they feel, and thats what gotten me into it, I got the respect I wanted I got to show who I am, even though I don't dress glam every day I can relate to all there music and the singers an to every glam folk. And being honest Glam/Punk and classic Rock it Rules cause the best singers in this world can put a hand full of words together an explain life/Feelings/Thoughts or somting that happened into one song. And its not like now a day people in other geners of music that don't mean shit but it makes a hit. its gotta mean somthin to be the best and I belive Glam Music realy hits the Soal.

I used to like Iron Man, the comic book character, and so when I searched it up, the song Iron Man by Black Sabbath came up, and then I got into Sabbath. Then I took guitar lessons and learned Smoke on the Water and Crazy Train, and got into Deep Purple and Ozzy. My cousin got guitar hero II for his b-day, and Shout at the Devil was on in, and with Motley Crue combined with Ozzy, I explored more into Glam Metal, and so on...

I was about 12 years old and I was staying up late one night watching some music video show on tv while my parents were out. They were playing all the usual pop shit when this next video came on that just had me mesmerized.
It was WASP "I Wanna be Somebody". I had never seen anything like it before. I was familiar with KISS and Twisted Sister but they seemed kid-friendly and like comic-book heroes. WASP just looked purely fuckin' evil. I remember just watching that video and thinking these were the most evil looking men I'd ever seen. I was convinced they probably killed people in their spare time. I had to have this!
I went out and bought WASP The Last Command. This led me into buying metal mags and getting heavily into the whole scene. I'll never forget the look of disappointment on my mother's face when she saw me pulling down my Mr.T poster to put up Motley Crue instead.
Ive been a metal maniac ever since so I guess that WASP video made more of an impact on my life than any other music video I've seen since.
Thanks Blackie.

Somehow I always listened to glam, I began to discover it in high school, I listened to all _from Sex Pistols to Maiden, from Nirvana to Guns_ and more often mixed genres (excluding disco and hip-hop, of course). From the time when I listened a little better or worse 'all kinds of metal(black, death, heavy, epic, thrash ..) I went through a period in which I followed very darkwave deathrock, finally there was a change. I do not know what exactly, but it was like discovering the folly of loving something that until then was always overshadows. Many people say that music is frivolous; some sides may be so, but its energetic, incredible, and makes me feel very good, even when it seems nothing get well. And I'm not ashamed of being what I am, indeed, now I think I could not really be nothing different, and I am so very happy.
