I have to agree. I listened to Ratt's Dancing Undercover on CD the other day, and it did not sound as good as it did on vinyl or tape. Vinyl is far superior.

I got rid of my vinyl records back in 1992. Most got sold and the rest I gave to an old school friend - he still has them so at least I can see my old collection now and then...

I still have a lot of old vinyls, but nothing to play them on. They are so fun to look at though! We are currently remodeling our basement, or "play den" and we are going to put the album covers on the wall.

I still have a ton of mine but I do not have a player anymore. I had an very old one from my mother from before the 60's and I always liked that one so she gave it to me, and then gave me her current one (back in the early 90's) to play things on. It ended up dying a few years back.

Surprised to find this old thread still around. Since I have a turntable question, I thought this would be a good place to ask. I still have those few vinyls I refuse to part with. Now I'm looking for recommendations for a good turntable. I'd really love to play these again.

I have 3 vinyl LPs that I haven't given up/lost - all Def Leppard. LOL I never had any Crue on vinyl. But I still have my High N Dry, Pyromania, and Hysteria vinyl LPs.

The funniest thing is, on Pyromania, by the label, etched into the vinyl, on the A side is "If you're gonna be a bear" and on the B side is "Be a Grizzy." And yes, it's spelled grizzy. LMAO

I still have all of my vinyl from the 80s/very early 90s. Probably about 300 albums. I've managed to replace all of it on CD though (thank god for ebay) including some stuff that really wasnt easy to get hold of.
And I have my entire CD collection on my mp3 player, too.
If anyone knows anyone who would like to buy a vinyl collection with lots of old glam...?

Collecting records is a lot more fun than downloading mp3s. Nothing beats green vinyl!

"My first husband waited till I was at work and sold all of my vinyl. Is murder REALLY THAT wrong? I miss my vinyl much more than him. LOL (We divorced, I didn't really kill him. Thought about it.) There is just something special about opening the album cover and seeing the pics. And, yeah, they are warm and fuzzy just like your favorite teddy bear. "
- Broncotwerp

i understand your point...my mother's first husband and my sister's ex-fiance are guilty of committing a similar act....and we all wanted to kill them.

an LP Walkman is what's needed for portable vinyl listening...we skipped that techno revolution didn't we??...i went to my first record fair earlier this year...and to our local market...i now own:

-Invisible/Never Too Young- 1984- Andy Scott (solo).
-Off The Record- 1977- The Sweet.
-Level Headed- 1978- The Sweet.
-Young Girl/I'm Losing You- 1968- Gary Puckett.
-Smoke Gets In Your Eyes/Another Place, Another Time- 1974- Bryan Ferry.

funny thing with the 2 albums is...straight after i bought those on vinyl...i found them on CD in HMV (media store)....and bought them on CD so i could put them on my ipod...and listened to them on my CD walkman..all the way home...i also got 2 CD sleeves with Off The Record...lol.

I've still got a few of them that I just refuse to give up. But I haven't had a turntable in years so I can't play them.

I wish I still had my mothers collection, she and every and anything you could get your hands on from the late 50's up to about the mid 90's. No idea what happened to everything, I still remember her having this gold suitcase that opened into a record player, I always wanted to swipe that from her!

I LOVED albums! Still have a few around but no turn table, so what's the point. My father in law recently passed away, had he had about 300 albums most of which he had transfered to c.d. he just loved technolgy. I never had a reel to reel but my Dad did, and when it was on nobody had better get near it! So funny!

Get with the times people. MP3 is the way to go.

I got one CD with about 200 Ratt, Poison, Motley Crue, Whitesnake, Sweet & Bon Jovi songs in the car.

Just press play and relax. Technology is a great thing.

I am glad that I am not the only one. I have a huge collection of records. I should also admit that I have a reel-to-reel which is great to listen to. I feel like an old man today, but the reel-to-reel is the best!

I love vinyl to this day!

CD's are neat and all, but there's just something special about putting on that old turn-table with a classic record.

An experience that just can't be matched by MP3's or CD's, or whatever else.
