Pantera indeed! love it! got the first 2 albums on vinyl. Powermetal en projects in the jungle. with tarence lee on vocals. Whem phil came in pantera the style became harder and more extreme.

Thrash was a grimmer, heavier, make up free version of metal if you ask me. The band members wanted sex, booze and had crazy hair - They just never sang about it!

A lot of fans in the 80s loved both thrash and glam - Pop music was the enemy...

As for Celtic Frost and Cold Lake, the biggest problem was that it was just so different from their other work, and the fact that Celtic Frost had always prided themselves on innovation, and staying ahead of the pack. On Cold Lake, they made what was probably their safest album, at least where it came to challenging the norm. The backlash was two-fold, for selling out both their style, and by just not being very innovative on the album either.

It wasn't even good glam and I listened to Cold Lake. Celtic Frost kicks ass and that wasn't Celtic Frost. By the way saw Slayer's first album in vinyl in the used CD shop, didn't buy it, kind of regretting it now.

"If Slayer would be embarrassed from the Show No Mercy promo pic, imagin how Tom Warrior of Celtic Frost must feel about Cold Lake But yeah... since I started listening to more thrash, I think Slayer is pretty badass..."
- dorkstarmy93

Oh trust me, he's so embarassed by Cold Lake, that he refuses to let anyone reissue it! Kinda ashame too, since Cold Lake isn't as bad as it's reputation may make you think. Picked it up at some CD store used for like $3 about 4 years back. While it's a bad album for Celtic Frost, it is decent when viewed individually.

To me Show No Mercy sounds like a mix between speed metal and NWOBHM. They were probably like Twisted Sister, meaning tat they had the glam image, but not the glam sound.

Well, how about that? The Thrash monsters themselves were also a little bit of Glamsters! I know that they were largely influenced by Venom and Motorhead starting out, but I did detect some Glam influences on the first 2 albums, however subtle they may have been.
