"Depending on your definition of Glam, Queen is often considered a Glam band of some sort. Personally, I don't think all that much about it. What I DO know however, is that I love Queen and their music. Freddie Mercury is by far one of the most talented vocalists to ever live, and his range was simply amazing. The rest of the band is just as talented in their own ways. Unfortunately, I was never able to see them live.
So, anyone else here into them at all?"
- StillRocking

100% agree.
glam or not, Queen is amazing, one of a kind, original and unique. Freddie is one of my biggests influences, best vocalist ever for me.
(well im just about to cry just like everytime i talk about him hehe...)
Queen forever!

I have been a fan of Queen for about 5-6 years now. Being born just a year before our dear Freddie died, I never got to see them live as the original band. I am lucky enough to say that i saw Queen + Paul Rodgers in 2005 and 2008. I know it's not as good as the real deal, but it's the best I can do! I have all of their albums and the vast majority of their DVDs. I'm one of those weird people who have a bit of a thing for Brian May... My sister likes Roger Taylor, so we're both as bad as each other!

The closest person I have ever found to Freddie Mercury's singing is the pop rock singer Mika, who you can read about more here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mika_(singer)

Anyway, Queen as a whole is truly a one of a kind band, and by far one of the best and most influential bands of any genre. They could do concept albums which actually WORKED for one.

Absolutely dig Queen. I bought the "Crown Jewels" box set. It contains all their 70's stuff, every song on every album was just great stuff. They used so many different types of sounds and genres for various songs. It made for a interesting and eclectic listen. Still I love "Sheer Heart Attack" and "Stone Cold Crazy" my two favorite songs. If that isn't metal I don't know what is! Brian May's guitar he made himself and it has a sound like no other and Freddie's voice, well it would be hard for me to add what all my friends so eloquently put before me but he could sound like angel but plunge his voice into a demon growl at the drop of a hat. Will not see the likes of him again. Best vocalist.

I was arguing with my SO the other day about this band. He said he felt let down when people found out about FM once he came out of the closet. Like that FM was portraying something he wasnt, so I went off on him and smacked him a new one. I dont think he did anything out of fashion, nor tried to really be something he wasnt. If you dont know, you ask, if people dont want to share, they wont its that simple.

During the mid to late 70s, Queen were one of (if not the) kings of glam. Ever seen the video clip to Bohemian Rhapsody? They are wearing more stretch tinfoil in that than in the entire NASA space program of that year.

Queen, like alot of great bands, kept up with the times and fads came and went, they morphed along with it.

Freddie Mercury did however maintain individuality in his on stage presence which was reflected by his roots in glam. He remained flamboyant and outrageous throughout his career.
