"There are bigger things to worry about and it's the assholes that have been stealing from our glorious heritage to create this new glam fusion garbage.
There is glam rock, glam metal, hair metal and sleaze rock. Anything else that pretends to be glam, is pure shit.
Check this stuff out. This one is called Jeffree Star. I guess it's a genderbender trip like Boy George was on in the 80s.
But please people, don't confuse this shit as glam that we dig because it fucking ain't. You won't be hearing any songs from this about partying, getting chased by the cops, getting blown by hot chicks etc.
It makes me sick to post this but we all gotta know what crap is going on and how there are people out there that wanna ruin the thing we love.
THEY ARE NOT OUR FRIENDS. THEY ARE OUR ENEMIES.
"
- glamster

It makes me sick to repost this! My friend likes this guy. Glam will defintly not come back by people like him and Lady gaga or anybody like that. Glam will come back by fans of the music, who will stop at nothing to keep it alive, even if it means losing your friends who don't like glam. I got soo fucking mad at my BEST friend the other day for saying the music i like sucks.

I just picked up The Fame Monster to see what all the fuss is about. It's not bad but isn't much different to all the other female popsters out there (to my ears), however, two songs (Speechless and Brown Eyes) could loosely be labelled as glam, they're ballads but at least that's something. Maybe one day she'll strap on a guitar and get serious.

I guess they're called "nu" because they're basically a new-wave of glam bands.

I like some of them, but to me the majority just sound like they're trying too hard to be Guns n Roses or someone to have any real originality.

LOL.
I take days off school to use this place

Hehe, I like Lady GaGa a little bit, actually. And I dont remember her ever saying she was Glam... Glamourous, yeah. But Glam wasn't really glamourous itself. Glams trash in tigerskin boots, aint it? Haha.

And... What are the Nu-Glam bands? I read the little article on Nu-Glam/Real Glam... I havent really heard most of those bands mentioned, but Vains of Jenna were mentioned, and I fucking love them. I dont see how they're Nu, though. I mean, they sound different than Motley Crue, or GnR, or Cinderella, or Def Leppard... But thats because they arent Motley Crue, Guns 'n' Roses, Cinderella, or Def Leppard. They're Vains of Jenna. You know?

Glams back in fashion, though. Where I live, anyway. All the Hair Product stylist guys, or whatever, are pumping new lines for 'BIG' hair, Backcombing brushes are being sold in the shops, you cant buy any girls' jewlery or clothes that isn't Tigerprint, Leopardprint or Zebrastripe, and Leather is more popular than cotton.

Theres probably a lot more to be said for Makeup and all, but... I don't know about that.

Also, every hair modifying device in the world has the word 'Glamour' scralwed all over it. And its all super cheap, so Trash cats can cash in on all this.

Hehe.

Yeah, some of her music is catchy. Personally, I don't know what all the fuss is about? Lady GaGa is nothing to do with glam rock or glam metal. She exists 20 to 30 years on from those scenes. "The Fame Monster" is a mix of electro pop and contemporary R&B.

I fucking love Lady Gaga, so sue me. She's a massive, MASSIVE glam metal fan and is paying homage to bands like Motley Crue and Def Leppard in a way that's making her a fortune. So what? This so-called "true" glam will never be mainstream because people will either laugh at the way the bands look or dislike it because it's got guitars in, whatever. It doesn't make glam less valid as a musical genre just because a successful, mainstream artist takes influence from it.

As for most of the "nu-glam" bands - if I wanted to listen to Motley Crue, I'd listen to Motley Crue, not a second or third rate knock off.

Style fusion has happened many times before, synth pop, goth and heavy metal fused together creating bands such as Nine Inch Nails, Razed In Black, Apoptygma Berzerk and Fear Factory. These bands never took over the charts but the underlining act was very popular. Lady GaGa has become a pop star in her own right, several wannabe artists will now attempt to mimic her idea.

The Darkness tried to gain fame using the 70s glam style back in 2002 but luckily nobody followed suit.

It's inevitable that elements from glam rock or glam metal will be used in future music composition. After all glam metal evolved from glam rock in the first place (but where did glam rock come from? - LOL).

The fact is: we'll never see published material cloning musical styles from the past! It's like who's gonna make another Amiga A500 computer or an original Mini Cooper??? NOBODY!

I'm sure tribute bands will do a great job but the music industry is never gonna publish them cos it's all about progression...

If you want that 70s or 80s sound or style then your gonna have to gain access to some retro gear and that's gonna be expensive!

I personally love that combination of "Oooooh Yeah!" vocal screams, twiddly guitar solos, tight rock drumming with over the top fills, vintage synths, big hair with leather, dirty lyrics and the whole 80s production sound wrapped up in a nice plastic case with a picture of the band on my fucking shelf!

From a DJ point of view: Lady GaGa fits more with contemporary R&B along with Akon, Timberland, Flo Rida and The Pussycat Dolls. Lady GaGa's influences include David Bowie and Freddie Mercury, taking her name from Queen's "Radio Ga Ga".

It's a sad subject for me but I agree with Admin. Glam has been and gone and is now part of our history!

I believe that we will see new glam scenes but they will have there own identity and we'll probably reject em!!! I guess the 80s "Glam Metal" trend was rejected by plenty of 70s "Glam Rock" fans.

I was lucky enough to live through the 70s, 80s and early 90s scenes. Yes I hated Grunge, I got my new material from the likes of Pantera, Fear Factory and White Zombie when glam metal bands stopped releasing albums. Then it happened again, the 90s metal bands that I liked died out or moved on. I remember it well cos I was DJing metal and goth at the time. Most of the bands on this site such as Cinderella, Guns N'Roses and Aerosmith were known as "Cheese" back in 2000, at least here in the UK. I gave up on metal when Emo hit the mainstream. I've not paid any attention to the metal scene since then - I know more about generic pop music nowadays.

There is light at the end of the tunnel for new fans as there's plenty of material to discover and enjoy. You can buy most of the albums from Amazon and ebay. There's no excuse for not knowing about Glam, Hair and Sleaze with sites like GlamRock.com!

It's just a shame that you can't see many of the bands play live anymore.

No way man, Glam is coming back, and its shit real.

I mean, Glam Rock always came back, right? 1960s, you had bands like Marc Bolan, Velvet Underground -- didnt the New York Dolls start around there? It was the roots, man. And then it grew, like wild and we had the 1970s. David Bowie, T. Rex, NYD, Slade -- you know the guys. Loads of 'em. Then it died, late 70s. In the media, anyway.

Then in the 80s, it came back. Fuckin' full force. Sleaze metal, all that Sunset Strip crazyness.

And then in the 90s it went underground again, things like Grunge and stuff taking over -- it died then, right?

Well, we've gone another decade without it -- next decade its gotta' come back. Hell, I know we dont need it to be Glam, but FUCK man, theres hundreds of us, and amidst our hundreds and hundreds of bands - why WOULDN'T it come back?!

Let pop have their Glam ideas. Let 'em bring back Synth and Electro, they can maim funk or spoil space all I care, its what they do and a lot of people dig it.

But I know theres nothing to stop us from bringing fresh days of fishnets and leather to your television screens!

GLAM ISNT LADY GAGA Shes a talentless piece of shit!
Glam will never be pop.
The music and style never left now its just more of a cult following which i love! I love the fact that its not mainstream and we can enjoy it in peice without posers or whatever trying to crash it.

Glam is about guitars and big hair, not hermaphrodites with shit makeup.

glam with pop is crap, more digital sampled drum beats,a guitar player playing a few rock licks, and turn tabels.Fuck that Shit,Im just gonna hit the stage and shred. Its not glam rock with one dude or chick out there with the look, but doesnt have the chops to be a rock musician,or a musician for that matter, and having a guitar player and 2 turn tabels!

Yeah i agree with what your saying admin, but there are quite a few new glam bands nowadays ya know mostly from Sweden. They sport the look, attitude, and of course the music. Like the ones I said earlier Snake Of Eden and Vains Of Jenna. Snake Of Eden has already had a huge impact on the US and other places, showing the world glam and they havent even put out an album yet. But like you said, we dont need a revival and i would be fine if there wasnt one, im just glad that there are people like us all over the world who still love this music and there are quite a few bands playing it

Usually my opinion is restrained but this thread is bothering me and I have to say something.

There have been very, very few bands since the mid '90s that qualify as real glam. Some of the bands we know and love, reform and do tours. Others such as nu glam, genuinely pay homage and justice to their roots bedded in the Sunset Strip of the 80s.

Any act that ignorant publicists, media, fans etc categorize as glam or fuse with glam to create a new form of glam that obviously lacks the 80s Sunset Strip attitude and look (eg. cowboy boots & 'BIG' hair), can go and get fucked.

Any talk of glam coming back is sheer fantasy. Just like the 20's charlston, 40s swing bands 50's rock and roll, 60's summer of love, 70s folk, 80s glam and 90s grunge. It'll never happen again. History tells us that.

We don't need a revival to validate what we feel and believe.

There are bigger things to worry about and it's the assholes that have been stealing from our glorious heritage to create this new glam fusion garbage.

I mean it might be okay if they were better artists but i don't see glam fused with pop dance working out to well
