YEAH!
This guys probably the best artist ever to have lived. I love him, like. I'm growing my hair to look like a healthier, dark brown version of Jareths

I actually got into Glam during the summer after stumbling accross an album by David Bowie - Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars. I talked to my Guitar Tutor about it, and he told me all about Glam Rock. I had already been getting into Glam Rock as a fashion by then, because of my old friend, Ryle, was/is an expert Glam Rocker.

We talked about Marc Bolan and The Velvet Underground as well, two more of my favourite Glam artists, who arent always considered Glam Rock! I admit Velvet Underground is more art rock than Glam, though. He introduced me to the New York Dolls, as well, and told me a few Bowie Albums to get.

I was a big fan of Whitesnake, and WASP, a while ago, so hearing Glam Rock and Glam Metal bands sounding sort of like all these people was very exciting for me, plus there was a great, experimental fashion sense to get into, and a fantastic lifestyle, so I instantly became a Glam Rocker.

David Bowie, since I found that album, has been my favourite Artist of all time. I've now got Space Oddity, The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars, Aladdin Sane, Diamond Dogs, and Never Let me Down, although I havent listened to that.

I can play Ziggy Stardust, Hang Onto Yourself, Rebel Rebel, and some of Moonage Daydream, on guitar, as well. All amazing works.

He's a great guy.
And hell he looks good, hahaha.

Brilliant!

Why isn't he mentioned on the bands section of this site!!?

But yes he is a legend. His best years are certainly sixty nine to the mid seventies. Ziggy and Alladin =D

No artist has had a bigger influence upon me than this man =]

^ You saw him live? That's awesome!

I started listening to Bowie in June 2008, and it resulted in an obsession that lingers to this day. I have around twelve albums and it just blows my mind how many genres he's tackled--and, most importantly, tackled well. I basically love everything he's done between '69 and '77. (Though I like some albums outside of that time frame.)

By the way, has anyone heard about this?

I really hope it's true...

SickThing, I wish I'd gone to a school as cool as yours! I fell in love with Bowie aged precisely eight, when my cousin - who was twice my age and therefore impossibly cool in my eyes - played me Aladdin Sane. The three best days of my life are the day I got married, the day my daughter was born... And the day 7 years ago that I fulfilled a lifelong ambiton and saw Bowie live. Ziggy was.....almost religious. I'm getting goosebumpy just thinking about it!

David Bowie's lovely! This year my school is doing a production called "Changes", the music teacher/cultural coordinator thought it up last year. It's like a play, based on the songs of David Bowie. So far it's been soo much fun, at the moment we're sorting out our costumes, last Wednesday the costume lady showed us some pictures of glam bands and such (two of which were Motley Crue and WASP!) to give some ideas to members of the cast who don't know much about glam. One of the pictures was of Jareth from Labyrinth (played by Bowie of course) and ALL the girls (including myself) screamed like maniacs when it came on the screen. And then my friends and I started yelling the lyrics to Magic Dance.

Anyway, tomorrow on assembly we're doing like a preview performance of Jean Genie, (which we've choreographed this super fun dance for) we're gonna be awesome.

It's true! And I saw him live a few years ago.... OMG if he was in politics, we'd all be in trouble! hehehehe He is soooo funny and quite charismatic! I've always loved his voice. It's got such a unique range, from high falsetto to low crooner and angry growl. I realize that Glam was just a few-year phase to him but where would we be without him?

David Bowie is one of those true rock legends, the kind that commands respect from musician's of all genres, be they new or old. Does anyone rememember when there was that big birthday concert for his 50th birthday, and everyone from Smashing Pumpkins Billy Corgan, to The Cure's Robert Smith was there to perform on stage with Bowie?

I bags this Glam Legend.

Bowie is amazing. I haven't really listened to much of his work recently, I have pretty much all his records from Man Who Sold the World to Reality, but I've chucked on some weird random Best of David Bowie that I had been given, and it's really fucking good! I don't usually go in for yer Greatest Hits things, but this is an excellent mixture of my favourite Bowie period, yer Thin White Dukes and yer Scary Monsters, Lodger, my favourite underrated album of all time, even gets a look in.

I love Bowie. I have more Bowie stuff than any other band. He was excellent in Extras the other year, and he's guested on Spongebob. He's amazing.
