If that is the right path for him I don't care what other beliefs you have, it is his choice. I am not a big fan of the Christian faith, I am a Deist. I have seen what Christianity does first hand to people, but I am a big fan of the theory live and let live. If it doesn't hurt or kill anybody let them do it. If it makes him happy and helps him good for him. It just wouldn't be my choice or maybe not yours, every man and woman has right to live the way they want to. I don't like the views on women, homosexuality, sex, science, and other faiths.
