I'm all for a protest guys. The era that we are liveing in now has to fucking end! I agree with you HananatheBanana socity needs to see glam once again. i have been trying to start a glam band for the past fucking two years now, every time i tried i failed misrabley. i finally found one with TDePaul1313 and we have been working hard at it for a while now. We got what it takes to make it but as shit goes my parents won't let me be apart of a band any more, they want to be assholes and tell me i can't be in a band with him. But i will be an adult in 4 months and they can't fucking stop me from leaveing. i use to be in bands and i miss being on stage alot! There wsa an old band called The Bubblegum Mafia that TDepaul1313 used to be apart of and we've been trying to reform it with hi mas the lead guitar player and me on vocals and bass but we can't find any musicans who are willing to do the glam thing again. if you guys are serious about a protest i think we're your boys, if we can find some more musicans and i may need you guys to help us, we will show the world that glam is fucking back and better than ever!

I've found, among my friends anyway, it's not that they don't like Hair Metal, it's the fact they've never heard of the genre! I'm 18 (as are most of my friends), so we weren't fortunate enough to live through the 80's and experience it all first hand. Some of my friends haven't even heard of Glam Rock!! Believe me, I'm trying to educate them. Society needs men in tight trousers, with big hair and makeup. We need to have that music back! It's just being forgotten about. I would totally start a hair metal band =P

BachFan4Ever
"I wouldn't call any of those people talentless freaks. I think they're very talented. Just give them a chance. Times change and new performers gain popularity. That's just the way it goes. And I don't think they're going anywhere, no matter how much anyone protests. Don't you think there's room for all types of music? You don't have to be their biggest fan, but just respect them for their talent."

That is so true
People are so close minded these days and you can't just think that Hair Metal is the only good music around. It's like saying Fall Out Boy and emo music is the only good thing around. Would you like it if people who liked that music would protest to radios to play only that music? You'd be furious, right? You are entitled to your opinion but not everyone has to agree with you

It's gonna happen, I just know it! People are sick of boring pretentious 'rock' music. People want GLAM and FUN and to PARTY! People want OUT-OF-CONTROL ROCK-N-ROLL!

Rock-n-roll is about rebellion and it is time to rebel against the bland, soulless 'rockers' of today. Where is today's Dee Snider to push the wankers out of the way for real rock-n-roll? Hopefully YOU are that person!

There are tons of new bands out there and they are forming on a daily basis. Having worked in radio; however, I tend to believe that they will stay true to their formats. We may get some night time airplay, but that is going to be from DJ's that are rebelling. We may hit some play with "classic" rock stations, but mostly they have a prescribed formula that they go by. And radio in general doesn't really care what people who are not in their advertisers target audience have to say. If you are in doubt, just check out some of the old episodes of WKRP in Cincinati.

Agreed. I just was operating on a "what if" assumption. On the whole I would like it to come back, it would beat all the shit thats out there right now. I think though I'd be a little annoyed at the Johnny Come Latelys who said glam was stupid or gay but now claim to like it. It would kind of piss me off to have the bandwagon I've been on for so many years crowded by people who would jump off to the next one that looked little prettier. I don't know, just saying.

Dude I am with you there. In this town its either stoner hippies who listen to the Eagles, wanna be "gangsta" cRap fans, and those douches who wear super tight pants, sweaters and hair covering their face, they listen to "indie" bands. Yeah Fall Out Boy is really "indie", whatever. I want glam to come out again, on the other hand it will become another fad for the above leeches to latch on to. Like you I don't know if I want it to happen, it is cool when it is our own personal thing. Its like a community. On the other hand there is alot of bands who deserve the success and bands that never got it back in the day that I'd like to get their just desserts. Sure if glam became popular it would be another fad but us real fans would stick around and not be like lemmings to the next fad that comes along. Most people who call Hair Metal "Gay" have really never listened to it, they just say it because other people are saying it. I've asked a couple of these hip dip shits if they can name any of the bands or songs, their reply "Don't know because their gay". That says it all.

Dude I am with you. I am a metal soldier, I have been doing that for the past two years in this town. Its funny though, on the rock station their starting to play 70's and 80's stuff, mostly at night, so I think I might have made a contribution. Still its not enough, and on the "Classic Rock" or what I call Classic Crock station they play Crosby, Stills and Nash, that type of garbage that isn't even rock. Been bugging them, they know me by name over there now. They used my phone call in a sound clip for a ad for their radio station where they have for and against the station. My friends it is a uphill battle to try to restore real rock, screw Mtv which should be called Rtv for Reality Television because they play no music on there at all. Shit you can go on youtube or any other site and see whatever videos you want and there is online internet radio stations that play the stuff we like. Still we need to fight the pop/cRap axis of evil. Onward Allies of Metal and Rock!

See, it just goes to show that many people claim to dislike Glam out of ignorance, as opposed to from actually giving it a chance. Have you ever met a David Bowie or Queen fan who claimed to hate Glam, despite the fact that both of them were so important to the 70's Glam scene?

In my art class (hate it but my school requires me to take it), my teacher has a stereo system (big one) that you can plug your ipod into and so a few weeks ago, my friend plugs in his iphone and starts playing 'Round and Round' by Ratt and everyone was headbanging lightly to it! Including the people who hated hair/glam metal said it was awesome and they didn't know it was glam. When they asked who it was, I told them straight up in their face that it was glam metal while doing the \m/ and they were surprised! So it goes to show that glam/hair metal still has a chance!! Don't give up, keep pushing and most importantly Rock the fuck on!!

i honestly just decided grunge killed rock n roll

i mean after hair metal faded away grunge became popular then the more mainstream stuff like nickelback and 3 doors down which both have good songs but it was just downhill from there

We are fortunate enough to have a few pretty good classic rock stations in my area, and they happen to play a healthy amount of Glam and hard rock, although they do ocassionally try to sneak in a little grunge, but it's still not all that bad!

"I wouldn't call any of those people talentless freaks. I think they're very talented. Just give them a chance. Times change and new performers gain popularity. That's just the way it goes. And I don't think they're going anywhere, no matter how much anyone protests. Don't you think there's room for all types of music? You don't have to be their biggest fan, but just respect them for their talent."- BachFan4Ever

Avenged Sevenfold, Shadows Fall, Unearth, and Lordi are really about the only new popular bands I can stomach. I generally hate all of the emo, hardcore, and hip hop music that's ben popular for the last 5-8 years. I consider this music a phrase that's going to die soon (I'll give it another 3-4 years), and just like 50s rock n roll made somewhat of a comeback in the 80s, I think it's going to revolve full circle, and 80s music is going to be somewhat popular again in the next decade.

Hell, it's already starting to make somewhat of a comback, check out this new band Blessed By a Broken Heart. They started out as a full metalcore band, but their new album has obvious elements of glam (catchy choruses, keyboards, guitar solos, etc.) I think they're going to be one of the bands that are going to bring good ol' rock 'n' roll back. At least I hope so.
