you're developing callusses (I think I spelled that right). I have them. They make your fingertips feel like leather, and when you get them, you don't feel the strings digging into your fingers.

lol i gave gene simmons my vote. Though i think nikki sixx and rick savage are great bass players in their own right, gene simmons just owns on the bass and is a great showman as well. Even bruce kulick(the 80's kiss guitar player, he was on asylum etc) says in the notes of Kissology vol 2 that he rarely makes mistakes.

Well, From the bassists in the poll, I would go with Nikki, He is just amazing.
But as I'm probably the biggest Tigertailz fan ever, Ill have to go with Pepsi Tate, God rest his soul.

I particularly like how he sounds, and looks at this concert...

well now mr SIXX-again, you do have a couple very valid points here, but in my opinion slash and GNR arewhat ive heard many people in general refer to as "punk metal"...and just because slash auditioned, auditioned mind you,for poison doesnt make him glam..thats my 2 cents

I disagree, metalrulesall...

Slash IS glam even if he/or others don't believe he is...

Glam metal combines traditional hard rock with elements of punk rock, catchy hooks & guitar riffs: Tell me GNR's music doesn't do that! Of course it does!

Slash & GNR just didn't want to be in the same category as bands like Poison, Bon Jovi & Warrant. The glam metal acts that were more "radio friendly", white-leather wearing, purple-spandex wearing, makeup wearing, etc.

They were more from the denim & leather glam metal school like post-"Theatre of Pain" Motley Crue, L.A. Guns, Faster Pussycat, W.A.S.P., and Tesla.

And ABOVE EVERYTHING ELSE -- Never forget that Slash auditioned for POISON once upon a time! He wasn't cool with wearing the makeup -- but had no problem with the music...

THAT IS A GLAM GUITARIST!!

I voted for who had the biggest impact on my playing. Van Halen especially, and Vai are in a league all their own. Lych is one of my most favorite ever, but Vito Bratta showed me how to play a solo that is equally bad ass and melodic....you could cry during about half of his solos!

No one is match for Eddie Van Halen, he is the best guitarrist Post-hendrix, completely revolutionized the way to play the eletric guitar and on stage hes also very cool with his jumps and stuff, and we cant forget that he wrote Eruption that is like the bible for many guitarrists.

"King_Killah, I've been noticing your past posts here and there, and I just wanted to point something out.
Okay, Joe Satriani is NOT a glam guitarist. Steve Vai is. He played for David Lee Roth. Yngwie Malmsteen is NOT glam. He's more of a neo-classical musician." - Alexx Noles

Someone a little cranky?

Satriani isnt glam but Yngwie is. Listen to some of his songs.... glam, neo-classical is a vauge(and stuipd) label.
he would often have puffed up hair, a tailor made jacket, tight lycra trousers and cowboy boots, as well as showy and virtuous guitar playing, which is hair metal features more often than not

Of this list, I have to say CC Deville. He is extremely underrated. DeMartini rocks, too. Steve Perry??? I am thinking meant Joe Perry. Bratta was quietly a guitar phenom, too... Wondering why the likes of Mick Mars, Keifer/LaBar, Tracii Guns were left off... Why Vai is on, but Satriani and Yngwie are not???

Mick Mars! The underrated backbone of Motley Crue!

However Slash is also the MAN! No guitarist has as distinct a look as Slash. When he left GNR -- There was no reason to call them Guns N Roses ever again! His sound/style & Axl's vocals were the signature sound of Guns. Axl & Slash were the quivalent of Freddie Mercury & Brian May. You can't have one without the other...
