While watching MTV the other morning I noticed that metal is no longer played. The closest thing to rock I saw was another limp-dick tune from Nickleback. :?

In place of metal/rock was a LOT of rappers carrying electric guitars -- Not playing them! Just slung around their necks, like another fucking gold chain! A prop :!:

They all claim to party "like a rockstar", use guitar riffs from rock tunes in their rap "songs", wear AC/DC logos on their oversized shirts and now carry guitars without playing a note. ANNOYING AS HELL!! :x

Then I remembered a few things some Glam rockers did... :?

**Who can forget 'DJ' Tommy Lee's Methods of Mayhem --

**Slash with Cypress Hill and Fergie AND Aerosmith with Run DMC giving their own classics rap-makeovers!(That's right, I said it -- I ALWAYS hated the "Walk This Way" rap version!) :x

AND PROBABLY WORST OF ALL -- although not rap; more hip-hop/r&b -- IS POISON FOR COVERING JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE!!! 8O

So I ask y'all: WHICH ANNOYS YOU MORE? When rappers pretend to "party like a rockstar" or when rockstars try to "kick it like a rapper"?

Yeah I try not to even acknowledge Poison covering Justin Timberlake...

But it is a very tough choice there man...they're both extrememly lame scenarios, but I'm gonna have to lean towards the rappers pretending to be rockstars to be the more annoying, probably just cause I hate rap intensly, but its a close one.

I want the 80's to last forever!

Well well, Mr. Close Minded. LOL.

I liked Aerosmith and Run DMCs thing. Fuck it, I dont like Aerosmith, not a lot anyway. Run DMC made it for me. And Poison covering Justin Timberlake is jokes, haha. I dont believe they were wholly serious.

But yeah, the whole rap being rock thing does get to me, so that, haha. Some bands pulled it off in the beginning, or at least it worked for what they were doing, but now.... I mean its not going anywhere either. Its tapering off from two sides to mainstream music of a decade thats now past.

When you think about it though, I reckon this century is gonna follow the footsteps of last centuries. 1900? Shit, wanna-be 1800s music with dumb musicians. 1910 and 1920? Boundary-pushing, controversial, highly sexual, very dark and deep in places, totally innovative. 30s? Carrying on that tone but with no aims to push forward. 40s? A bit dry, art takes to writing, filmmaking and like, paint. 50s? Starting of a revolution, some totally new, fresh and amazing stuff and again highly sexual, heavily glamourous. 1960s, insane revolution, 1970s, the 1920s again, then Punk, which changed everything, 1980, 1930s again, 1990, confused decade, everything going haywire.

2000? Shit, wanna-be 80s music, with overproduced musicians.

2010s already looking promising where I am, and in a few other cities. Oo-oo-oooh. See? Its allll the saaaame. Haha. My theory anyway.

SIXX-Again I think a lot of this can be seen as being a tit for tat parody. Ignore the music videos, that's just the latest fad by directors and stylists :) Also, Rap music tends to sample many musical styles and always has.

Unfortunately for Rock/Metal, Rap and R&B are really popular at the moment in the UK music scene and have been for some time, in fact they have taken over AGAIN!

"Walk This Way" is a classic and always will be. It brought Aerosmith back onto the scene, thank god. The Sugababes/Girls Aloud version was also good in my opinon (Retroman prepares for a lynching)

Rap and Metal fused years ago with the likes of Anthrax/Public Enemy, Mordred, Ice-T, Electric Boys and the rest... I don't mind some of the proper Rap and R&B tunes from well established acts, I just hate it when record companies push lame wannabes at teenies and saturate the music scene, but that's true for many genres.

Fuck Rock n Rollers going rap in anyway. I try to look on the bright side with the opposite. In hard times like these at least its some sort of promotion of R N' R

I just hate hearing that phrase that's been clichéd these days,"party like a rockstar".that shit pisses me off cuz of all the people that say it don't even listen to rock, and therefore aren't,nor will ever be,rockstars.rappers aren't rockstars in my mind.they're rappers.y can't they just be happy with the title of Rapper? Why do they feel the need to take our title? Fucking dumb in my opinion
