I was just thinking about this myself, and then I decided "Just make a thread about it already darnit!"

And so here it is. Do you remember what got you into Rock in the first place?

For myself, I grew up on bands such as Poison,Crue, and Guns n' Roses.

And to this day, I still keep up on what all the old bands have been up to.

What about the rest of you?

I just remember as a kid seeing all the glitter and colour and costumes. I didn't know it was glam, but I knew they were having fun and the songs were so catchy and energetic. Then when all the girls at school have the bands all over their school books and their walls, you know it's a good thing ;-)

Older siblings for the longest time (so I thought) tortured me with their loud metal music. What I thought when I was real young, then it just kind of grew on me. And you know, I am a sucker for guys with good eyes. :)

Seeing Kiss's rock n roll all nite on tv in the mid 70's, it was like "this is their job? it can't be, its too fun and too cool to be a job, oh shit, it is". The seed was planted.

I was a teenage kid in the '70s. Glam was it. At least, for me. I loved it. When Queen came out...I was awestruck. I was a huge Aerosmith fan...and then I got a load of Queen. I was all done after that. When Freddie died, my whole world seemed to collapse around me. I cried for week.

i always listened to my mum and my sisters music growing up...but i didn't recall many band/ artist/ song names...then i had a touch of amnesia...and when it started to disappear..."then i saw the light"...and found glam...it was triggered by the end of TOTP...and my knack for getting lyrics wrong. "Does Anyone Know The Way To The Bus Stop?"...lol.

I kind of rebelled against grunge! could never get into pearl jam or nirvana like my mates so i just hid and listened to hanoi, the crue, kiss and the like till grunge passed by.

My Dad was a huge Guns N Roses and Queen fan, and I just expanded from there a couple of years ago. I listen to lots of different music styles, but Glams definitely my favourite.

I didn't realize that there were so many younger fans of glam. Definitely cool. I remember seeing Motley Crue's Shout at the Devil album in the music store with my cousin. He said, "We have to get this. These guys look too cool to possibly suck". We bought it and were instantly hooked.

Well for me it was my older brother. He is 11yrs older than me and he loved Ratt, Whitesnake, Poison, Dokken, The Crue..etc. So i would hear him listening to it in his room and i wanted the songs, so i would take my tapes that came with my little kiddie books, (remember those?) LOL Anyway and he would put tape over those holes and make me a tape! LOL So needless to say my "My little Pony" tapes turned into Dokken ~ Under Lock and Key and Poison "Look what the cat dragged in".

i've actually just been reminded how i first found Sweet, specifically...slightly embarrassing...but here it goes: when i was about 7...Top of The Pops 2 was on TV showing some of the hits of yesteryear...and apparently...even at age 7 i fell in love with Steve Priest....i've been told that whilst i watched Wig Wam Bam...my eyes didn't move away from the screen...lol.

My sisters had Def Leppard, Queen and Duran Duran posters up everywhere. All kinds of glam on posters in our room. It was amazing to look at...especially when Halloween came around, we had no problem getting into a costume!

I think, though, that those posters had a major hand in getting me into glam.
My sister, in her forties and a grandmother, still likes the glam stuff.

Totally my best friend's older brother's fault! I was like six and her brother had this Kiss-poster on his wall that we always sat and stared at and talked about when we played vido games in his room.
And one day, like...yeaarrzz ago he played a def leppard record when me and my friend was there visiting and I got totally crazy about them and switched all music on my playlist from InFlames to Def Leppard and Aerosmith (and etc!).
And practically everyone I know is sleazers - most band members anyway. Plus, the glam band afterparties are kickazz!

used to like grunge like nirvana ALOT...till one day watched metal mania and a band named poison came on and they have led me to like other bands like crue, ratt, iron maiden...and the reason i like the music so much is cause like you see in nirvana's vid "smells like teen spirit", all kurt does is mope around and act all depressed...and in poisons vid "nothin but a good time" they are all jumping round, running, and have so MUCH energy...that is what i LUV bout glam

i know it seems like we are never coming back. i know it feels like we r never coming back. you tryed ur best and you knew it wouldnt last. they were the words they wrote on her casket!

I got into glam through Pantera's 80s albums which they ironically used to deny existed. After that, I started listening to Skid Row and Cinderella, and the rest was history.
