My mom loves Europe, AC/DC and Bon Jovi. She loves when I comes around to her place and plays that stuff - mainly because she's too stupid to figure out how to log onto the computer and start the playlist on iTunes!

Ozzy was VERY straight froward with his lryics....thats why they call him the king of heavy metal AND the mad man od ro0ck-n-roll...and thats why he's been on of my all time biggest idols sense i was a young boy ast the tender age of 14

no...that's fine...it looks quite cool that way...i might just keep it that way...and Ozzy is well....you just can't beat Ozzy, when it comes to that dark side of rock and metal.

I was pretty lucky that both my parents encouraged music of all kinds! They even let my brothers and my bands practice in the basement! Yet I am pretty sure that my mom would of rather my brother and I listened to Mozart or Bach!lol
I have lucked out for the most part as two out of my three kids like the same music as
I! My youngest likes some of the same stuff but she is still figuring out what she really likes and she has gone through Rap, country, and now is mostly listening to the new stuff out there which I have to say is way better then the Rap and Country! LOL

they weren't fans, but they did buy me a lot of records i liked, as well as getting me tickets for shows like zep, kiss, aerosmith, and the like, they were live and let live type people that as long as i did good in school and didn't get into trouble, they were cool with what i listened to and saw, which i wish i could say about other parents, but unfortunately can't say because they can be so square and insecure that they have to make their kids miserable as well!

My dad pretty much never paid attention to the band sback then. However, my older brother (35 years old) hated glam back in the 80s except for Def Leppard, Bon Jovi, and Guns & Roses. He looked at the majority of glam bands the same way I look at bands like My Chemical Romance and Fall Out Boy today.

I guess this thread doesn't really apply to me as I'm a 90s kid and it was my dad who got me into Glam Rock in the first place, but my mum is 51 and listens to Steely Dan, The Eagles, etc. So here we go:
She isn't overly happy about my strong liking for KISS, as she believes that a lot of the songs have inappropriate content. But that's what she used to say when I was 10, I don't think she cares anymore now that I'm nearly 15. One time when I was about 10 I was going to buy a KISS CD but I needed an extra $2. So I asked my mum and she fed me this lie saying "Oh listening to that music could make you depressed.." um.. how?
Also, she often tells me this lie about attending a certain concert of a certain ROCK GOD. She was hanging up my new curtains one day and she asked me to put on some music. I jokingly said something along the lines of "Oh, you really want my music on? I've got some Alice Cooper if you want!" She then said "Oh, I went to his Welcome to my Nightmare concert years ago!" Naturally, I didn't believe her. If she was telling the truth, she was either 1.dragged along by a friend or 2.trying to fit in. Which she had a habit of doing when she was young, hence her smoking addiction. Infact, she's still trying to fit in with the crowd, joining that stupid golf club and cutting+bleaching her long beautiful hair..

I'm livin' in the 70s, I feel like I've lost my keys
I got the right day, got the wrong week
I get paid for just being a freak

You are kinda right. Guns & Roses's debut album sort of borderlines on glam, but I consider it more like a straight-up 80s hard rock album.

actually Sixx describes them as having glam elements as do a few other artists of the time of their biggest run.

@Sickthing...you can still comment, of course you can..i was raised in the 90s...my parents lived through the glammy days, as did my sister for the 80s ones...it's commenting what they thought of it..not specifically liking or disliking it.

My mother always said turn that crap off. So I would blast my CD's anyway. I would hear I told you to turn that crap off. Haha. I told her to stop playing Barry Manilow and Billy Jole it was killing me but did she listen to me, hell no. I would turn on my headphones and to this day I do not hear like I should. I can hear but I lost some hearing due to listening to my headphones all the time on full volume because I was not allowed to listen without my headphones. However when my mom left the house I would turn up my CD player and sing along to Ratt, Dokken, Motley Crue, Aerosmith and Dio and so on.

My Mom sings along to Ratt (Lovin' You's A Dirty Job) whenever we play it around her...and L.A. Guns (Sex Action). Oh God, it's embarassing.

Well there sure seem to be a lot of younger glam fans on here! My parents grew up on the Stones and the Beatles, so it was kinda hard for them to be all weird about bands like Bon Jovi and Motley Crue-although my dad would sort of frown at the makeup thing. When I was a kid I listened to the Bee Gees and Rock Springfield, so you know-it wasn't much of a musical jump to glam. I find that I even like to listen to my parents' music sometimes, although Bon Jovi is still my number one band!

I don't think that'll work...she listens to dance music or Britney spears...but I suppose singing along to RATT and LAG is a start... :D

Growing up Mom left me with my own transistor radio.Mom and Dad knew there wasn';t much culture where we lived so they encouraged me to listen to anything I wanted.Mom liked the Beatles, but as she got older she started listening more to Dad's big band music.

But if I listened to anything even remotely melodic, Mom dug it.Queen, Boston, anything with harmonies or elaborate instrumentation. She knew better than to bitch at me, so long as I kept up my grades and stayed outa trouble.

Now I still try to expose her to new music, but these days mostly my radio stations are on news and politics.

My parents were totally into it back in the 70's, 80's & 90's... My Mom took me to see Alice Cooper on the "Billion Dollar Babies" tour when I was like 4 or 5. I still remember that to this day. My Parents used to go to see concerts with me like Motley Crue, Dokken, and Metallica. I did a lot of drugs with them too. It's funny though because these days I am still rockin' and wearing make-up, but they are totally done and expect me to "grow up"... Screw That!!
