I have to admit that I really liked Kiss from 1983 to 1987. For me, Paul Stanley was at his absolute peak.

Also, I really dig their image when they first came out up until Alive!. Around the double platinum era, I was completely disinterested.

They are a band that kept on reinventing, churning out new material and doing the tours. They must be the most prolific glam band of all time. Being ever present during both of the golden decades of glam. :-)

What female would not be a Kiss fan? I freaked out when they stopped with the makeup, that just isn't right. I think it was more to try and torture the fans. I cant handle Kiss w/o the B&W, otherwise its just not Kiss to me. And Alive was a good album, favorite would be "Deuce". Few could survive all glam had to offer, all members of Kiss did it good. :)

Gotta agree with Motley guy. They've survived over 35 years of changes within the music industry. Stanley is only getting better as he gets older. His solo album and recent tour is testament to that.

Best albums? All prior to '83'
Most glammiest period? - Asylum/Crazy Night era. Lots of flouro & glitter and almost more make up in this era than when they had the b&w face paint :)

OMG...I love Kiss and the funniest thing is: (I think I already told the "S" man)I babysat for a couple of kids when I was 17. The kids were like 6 and 8 years old and HUGE Kiss fans. The older kid had a totally amazing record collection for an 8 year old. I was astonished...but it was so cool.

I loved what the guys were doing before they put the makeup back on. I was a fan of 80's stuff but the Revenge Era appealed to me a lot more. I'm starting to think i need to get my glam on a bit more huh...maybe i require a bit of 'Uh! All Night'!!!

I love Kiss. Best band in the world. EVER.

They have had their crap records out... but hey, every band needs to screw up once in a while. But yeah, they have survived over 30 years and still younger generations are into them. They will be one of those bands that will never die or fade into a back ground.

The 80's unmasked kiss were, i think... brill. Never did i think i would see Gene Simmons, the DEMON dress up in pink sequins... haw haw.
(Then again, i never thought i would heat him say "scream for me... lowestoft bowls club")

My favorite KISS song is "Hide Your Heart" from their 1989 album Hot In The Shade.

"I Was Made For Lovin' You" was the biggest sell out in kisstory.

KISS drove my mother crazy, with all of her three girls. Could you imagine that, even with the spam between having two different fathers, myself and two sis' are 14 and 17 yrs apart. Just really shows how well a band can have fans of all ages. :)

Yeah, I heard about that! Some say it'll just be a one-off, others say they'll do a whole tour of Aus. I think the latter is more likely; they'll make more money out of it :D
I got to see Paul Stanley's 'Live to Win' tour early this year, my dad and I met Doc McGee afterwards, it was awesome. Only a few of the songs he played were his own solo stuff, it was mostly KISS classics, which pleased me. Although, when he played Shandi, I sat down. And felt quite bored during I Was Made For Lovin' You. Those are the two most popular and well-known KISS songs here, and I can't stand them.

Yeah, but it's fun to dance to.......

(I need to get into better shape if I tr it again)

I have a friend of mine who has been following everything Gene and KISS related for eons. He sent me a DVD of a couple shows for my birthday that I will always treasure, but they have never really been high on my list of absolutes. I like the hard rockin' stuff I can get out and dance to, but play "Beth", and I am going for a smoke.. lol.

    LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE them.

Strange that almost nobody talks about Carnival of Souls...I think its a great album....a bit dark....but thats okay.....

I am partial to the no makeup era....

In beauty school I had news clippings of them unmasked for JJ Jackson...I STILL have those clippings on a collage I made on an empty double LP jacket (not KISS I'd never deface their stuff)

I ended up making some trueblue friends, through the KISS Army too.Chased after 'em for 20 years....no regrets....(but I finally wised up and don't anymore)....love those guys....RIP Eric Carr....RIP Mark Norton (St. JOHN)....

In my opinion they are the greatest band ever! I know some people put down albums like "The Elder" or "Dynasty" but to me, even the worst of KISS is better than the best by whoever comes in second. I love the makeup era (the first one in the 70's) the best but "Revenge" is one of my favorite KISS albums. I first started listening to KISS when I was in Kindergarden! My older brother (in 2nd grade at the time) and I were at some friends house when my friend and I heard this incredible sound coming from down the hall. At the time my musical world consisted of "Christy and Jimmy McNichole", "Leif Garrett", a young "Michael Jackson" and a slew of others like them. When heard these deep manly voices and growling guitars I had to go down the hall and see what it was. I remember walking very slowly as if everything was in slow motion almost scared of what I was going to find. The whole time thinking these sounds I am hearing are incredible!! When I got down the hall and turned into the room where it was coming from my older brother and his friend (my friends older brother) were facing the other direction playing air guitar. I walked into the room and picked up the album jacket that was laying on the bed. It was quite possibly the coolest thing I had ever seen up to that point in my life. My brother and his friend then turned around, grabbed the album cover and chased my out of the room slamming the door behind me. It took my 3 days to get the name of the band out of my brother, but he finally told me it was KISS. I was hooked forever! My mother belonged to Columbia House record club and the next time she got her monthly mailing I intercepted it from the mailbox. She belonged to the Country music version of the club but luckily each mailing has selections from other styles of music. I leafed through it thinking I probably wasn't going to find something that radical in anything that my mother would be a part (after all my father was a pastor and she was a pastor's wife). But then as I turned one of the pages there it was... the picture of that awesome looking album. I took it to my older brother and convinced him to help me order it. Being much older than me (he was 7, I was 5) he knew what to do. He had me check the box that said, "Do not send me the selection of the month. Instead send me the following selections". We then filled in the corrosponding numbers to the album and 6 to 8 weeks later (which is an eternity to a 5 year old) I recieved what I later learned to be "Destroyer". My mother was furious! She did however let me listen to it until she heard it skip just one time and that was her opertunity to take it from me and throw it away. It would be about a year later that I would get "Love Gun". I eventualy got all of there records albums and most of the 8-tracks until I switched over to cassettes at which time I rebought all of there old stuff and kept buying them on cassette through "Hot In The Shade". At which time I started buying CD's. I then repurchased all of there back albums as well as continuing to buy all of there new stuff from "Revenge" on.

I hope I didn't bore you too much but that's my story on how I got hooked on KISS and what I've always called Heavy Metal but has now been broken up into about 100 different catagories including Heavy Metal, Metal, Hard Rock, Glam Rock, Hair Bands, Classic Rock, Classic Metal, Death Metal, Thrash and whatever else you want to call it. I still call it all "HEAVY METAL" and I love it all!

Didn't bore me at all :) I like hearing stories like that.
My story's completely different.. all I can say is that I really liked the music my dad playing in the car when I was about 4 or 5 years old, and that was KISS Unplugged. And probably Psycho Circus and a few others. Maybe my subconscious linked this great music with being happy to be with dad rather than being unhappy at home (my parents divorced when I was about 4) and so I get this good feeling listening to KISS. I dunno. I remember one New Years Eve several years ago my dad and I stayed up watching KISS Unplugged, projected onto the wall (I think my brother was asleep). He got out his V and played along with some of the songs.. I remember he got all emotional and told me that when he dies he wants to be buried with his V..
"Every time I look at you" is our song. 'Cause I'm everything to him :D

I love listening to KISS stories! KISS means something different to everyone but means something to everyone. Ya know what I mean? I even enjoy stories from people who don't like them! They are hilarious! So ridiculous to me! I've loved them through their whole career and all their changes....since I first laid my eyes and ears on them. I've argued with friends, lovers and even lost a husband over it...love me, love my KISS! In some circles they are kinda' hard on us old KISS fans. I'm so glad this is not one of those circles!

I think it'd be interesting and fun to go around town asking people what KISS means to them. I know this one guy who said he had his first kiss to Shandi. Naturally, I was disgusted at the mention of Shandi, but at least KISS means something to him in a way, y'know?

Also, just an interesting little snippet, while I was waiting in line for something at school (I was about 12) I was kinda trying to make conversation with the girl behind me. So I asked her if she likes KISS and she replied with "No, they're demented.." haha.

Not a huge fan, but one of my earliest memories of watching music videos is rocking out in my babyhood loungeroom to I Was Made for Loving You. I must have been three or four. In fact, I think it's the first video I remember, the next was Woman by John Lennon, which must have come out when I was 4 or 5.

They're coming here at easter, Wellington even, for the big festie with Alice and Ozzy. $250 bucks a night, doubt I'm gonna make it, may go for a roadtrip and indulge in some stalking though!

"Personally monsieur," said Poirot, "I don't give le fuck."

You shouldn't talk to me. Find better company. There's better people to know. You'll only end up like Rimbaud. Get shot by Verlaine...
