DASH - Those demos are AMAZING! You gotta wonder why the hell songs like that aren't considered "good enough" to make an album's final cut...
As for Still Standing, you're absolutely right. It's definitely my least favorite Cinderella album. It's like Crue's New Tattoo compared to a Shout or Feelgood...It pales in comparison. (BUT I'll take Still Standing over New Tattoo any day!)
I really hope it's not the last album Cinderella ever does. Hopefully they can do at least one more before it's all over. I'd hate to see them go out on a weak note...
i havent done this in awhile,so here we go.from a later Night Ranger album called Neverland, which is decent, not awesome like their earlier work tho.this one's one of my faves off of it.ull have to turn up ur speakers for this one,cuz its horrible quality.only non-live version youtube has.that solo is killer:
and another one off of Neverland, this is the title track.another killer solo:
Great White has always put out good albums.i now have all of them and can say that while Psycho City my fave,Hooked is pretty damn awesome also.u have to appreciate the bluesy-ness of this band. this is my personal fave off of Hooked:
and one more from Hooked:
about a month ago i finally found this album.Rockstar Supernova featuring Tommy Lee,Gilby Clarke,Jason Newstead, and the winner of that second season of Rockstar.i didnt watch the show,so i wanted the album just blindly figuring that an album with Tommy Lee,Gilby, and Jason would be pretty damn kickass.so i got it and gave it a listen and its not bad.it could be waaaay better than it was.it was solid musically tho.i dont care for the singer tho.he shouldnt have won that contest.maybe everyone else was just that bad, haha.anyway, heres a cut that i liked off of it.it features one of my fave pieces of equipment of Tommy, the Zildjian Zil-Bel,which i own now and is fuckin BADASS! anyway, heres the track off of the only album they put out:
With Alice Cooper & Rob Zombie touring together... I'm posting these recommendations from Cooper's Along Came a Spider album in the hopes that they decide to collaborate on a film based on it.
The album storyline is amazing:
It's about a serial killer named Spider. The police are baffled by the bodies of Spider’s victims, which are cocooned in a silk web, and are each missing a leg. Spider's task is to collect eight legs in order to complete the construction of his own spider. However, things get complicated when he falls in love with his eighth victim.
There's a 10 minute "movie" that's just a long music video(very campy) But I can see Rob Zombie making a demented classic out of that story! My fingers are crossed. Here's a few tracks:
Here's a couple of videos from the 10 minute "movie":
obviously everyone should know by now how big of a Lynch fan i am,so ill put up a couple Dokken that not everyone knows.this first one is from Tooth and Nail, and it pisses me off that youtube doesnt have a single decent vid for it,so ull have to suffer thru this dude's pathetic Lynch guitar cover.anyway, its one of my fave Dokken songs,so i thought id share, and believe me,the studio recording makes you want to fucking cry its so fucking badass.i guess it just makes having the album all that more special, haha:
and this ones from Under Lock And Key.a trully awesome album.this is a standout for sure:
and from Back For The Attack,my personal fave album, but im not gonna post the entire album, haha:
Always remember that LYNCH IS GOD! so it gives him the right to do this to Breaking The Chains w/Lynch Mob,which doesnt sounds pretty good.Robert Mason has an amazing voice:
not sure if ive already posted this, but its my fave Dangerous Toys song.that chorus is just ridiculously badass:
kinda like a heavier Dream Theater,Symphony X is a more progressive, aggressive, and less overproduced version of Dragonforce and fairly similar to Firewind:
and one from Triumph's Surveillance:
thought id throw this up cuz im not sure many of you know of it.Heart W/Layne Staley.great song.they do it justice for sure:
Blue Murder was an awesome band, and Blue Murder was an awesome ass album.kick ass all the way thru.i can listen to that S/T album a hundred times in a row and not get sick of it.John Sykes is amazing.heres a couple from it:
Stryper gets alot of shit.and ive posted up some stuff from them before, but i just got Against The Law recently and i cant stress enough how badass it is.come on people, try to look past the lyrics.as a drummer,i can honestly say i dont really pay that much attention to verses or lyrics in general.unless u are an overobsessive vocalist,it shouldnt really matter that much.this really is a badass band who plays badass music.Heres some examples:
this ones got like an Iced Earth feeling circa The Glorious Burden:
some more Scorps for ya,this one's off of Animal Magnetism, and its the OPENING TRACK! wat a way to kick off an album.it trully is an amazing kickass song:
and Europe's Final Countdown is a classic gem full of hits.literally.10 songs, and 5 made it to their greatest hits albums.heres my fave 2 from it:
Here's a PRETTY BOY FLOYD thats different from the usual-- CANDLE IN THE DARK
Does anyone know if this is a cover, and what CD its on? I asked someone in a record store here in Mpls. and he said they're not even available anymore ( I assume he meant no label sells them since he checked the store computer). That is just so wrong! Anyone know where I can get an actual CD?
I was very pleased to discover Crashdiet on this thread, I've totally hated every new "glam" band--UNTIL NOW!! It's good to see someone inspired by our generation with the talent and will to do something about it!
I think back and wonder where all the great times went from the 80s.
I saw Autograph on their first tour opening for Van Halen in October of 1984 at the Cow Palace in San Francisco, Ca for the VH 1984 tour. Of all the bands that have managed to survive grunge, alturnative and hip-hop I wish Autograph would have survived. They were a great band.
I remember when that album came out, it was perfect for bringing parties to life. I love how many people there are on this site that lived it, sweet memories!
WOW Thats almost too much awesome for my brain to handle! On that note, is there any really good compilation CDs with this sorta stuff? Aiming toward the Tigertailz, Pretty boy floyd sorta stuff.
My contribution is one of my favourite bands honestly, a newer band, featuring a former singer for Crashdiet, though these guys are notably more fun spirited: Reckless love - Romance
And Reckless Love - Beautiful Bomb!
EDIT: Totally worked out how to actually post videos
A band called Silvertide released an amazing debut album about 7 years ago. Unfortunately they have since disbanded for what reason I don't know. But this is the opening track off the album and it fucking rocks, as does the whole album. Check it out if you can.
Hey TylerD, I'd check out Pretty Boy Floyd's compilation Tonight Belongs To The Young, I love their demos...can you believe they didn't put something as beautiful as Candle In The Dark on a CD anywhere??! But yeah, it has Hands Off My Radio, you can check out that plus Tonight Belongs To The Young and Restless on YouTube to see if ya like it first. I also like the ballads on The Vault 1 & 2 (2 seperate albums) but haven't heard the rest yet.
So here's my recommendation in case someone hasn't actually heard it yet, this one is too fuckin amazing to miss!
DOKKEN'S Standing On The Outside from LIGHTNING STRIKES AGAIN
I wanted to recommend JUDGMENT DAY but couldn't find it. There's something about the momentum that makes it even more powerful than their other songs, it reminds me of the buildup in that 8 mile song, I hate hip hop but there was something so powerful in that, it feels like some FORCE pouring thru the music, anyone know how its created? But yeah, this whole album is fucking incredible. I always thought the love sux rants distracted from the power of the music, this new stuff is so much better. I noticed an eastern sound in It Means, it sounds like a string instrument being plucked, anyone know what it is? I love stuff like that, was disappointed that no one found Warrant's Indian Giver when I mentioned it earlier. If anyone has it will you please post it on youtube?
Every now and then ill see these Time Life ads on Tv for 80s Metal. Hawking comp cd's with alot of this obscure 80s stuff on them. Watch for them.
Way back when I was a teenager in the 80s a band called Giuffria was made. Greg Giuffria formed it after the glam band ANGEL split up. I thought Giuffria was better sounding anyways. This was around 1983-1984 sometime. The band didnt last long tho but it did spawn some great talent. Craig Goldy played guitar and later went on to play for Ronnie Dio. Giuffria played in Rough Cutt before Rough Cutt morphed into Ratt in the early 80s.
I saw Giuffria with Deep Purple and again with Forigner in San Francisco in 1984 and they were awsome. Talk about hair spray ... geeze
I have taken alot of slack from people over the decades for my always being a Wendy O Willams fan. I saw her perform live two times in the 1980s. She was a trip to say the least. A shame shes gone tho. If Alice Cooper was female hed be Wendy O.
Here's a couple from an Aussie Rock band called the Choirboys, not to be confused with English band The Quireboys. They are not a Hair/Glam band as such, but a great pub rock band. This is two of their best from the 80's.
This is something recent from Austin, TX Rockers "Broken Teeth" fronted by Jason McMaster of Dangerous Toys.
If you get the chance to see these guys live...do it. They play alot around Texas mostly but do get out and about on occasion.
