Ok,so I know there's a thread somewhere about "the best 80's cover by a current band" but wat I want to hear,is is it acceptable for a new glam band today to record a cover from the 80's and put it on album? I say fuck yea! Covering a song shows wat ur influences r,shows wat kind of band u r.I know for damn sure that when I get my band goin,on the debut album I want to have a kickass cover of maybe a poison or skid row song.the reason this came up,is that I was listening to Black Tide and Hit The Lights came on.it inspired me to pull out Kill Em All.so I'm thinkin that if more bands play covers,on their albums(and not ridiculous,u kno, like just maybe 1 on an album is enough),then it will inspire people who kno it to pick up the original,or people who say,"wow,I didn't kno that was a cover" and they'd go pick up the original themself.it could turn some new people today onto our genre.now I'm talkin about new glam bands, not rockbands such as nickelback or staind.newer glam bands.like say if vains of jenna did Rocket Queen on their next album.that shit would be fucking awesome! But like I've asked before...is it acceptable for a glam band of today to put an 80's cover on an album like Black Tide did and even maybe bring back the lesser known songs? I say fuck yea!

I agree with that as long as the band doesnt suck like all the modern bands that think they can play something thats a classic and they dont even represent the music at all.
Whenever I move and get a band I want to do mabye a cover for a record.
Id love to do Fuck Like a Beast or something by Dokken

yeah man, its totally cool for a band to cover an old song. its great for the band who wrote it and it just shows some of the influences of the band.
i dont know why the jonas brothers covered aces high, but its a good cover. even though i hate the jonas brothers music i cant doubt their musical ability
dudes, check out my band at

There's NO WAY IN HELL that audio is the Jonas Brothers!! NO WAY!!
Anyway...Totally acceptable! I'd encourage it! Who knows, maybe some new band will cover the 'right song' and kick off a massive glam rock revival! As long as it's not a major hit like "Sweet Child..." or "Livin On A Prayer". Or any song that's been covered to death.
Good call On "Rocket Queen". A known song, but not an anthem. Follow the Quiet Riot model: Take a 'known' song and TURN IT into a classic song.

I think its fine as long as its a new GLAM band doing the cover.

Glam bands in the 80s did it with Classic Rock song.
I think it would be cool, like a tribute kinda thing.
I agree with SIXX-Again, known song but not a huge hit.Posted 1 year ago # -
Yeah I reckon it'd be pree cool ^_^
But not some huge massive hit that everyone knows (a.k.a Every Rose Has Its Thorn, viva la Miley Cyrus)
I think that's a little bit attention seeking, you know what I mean?"Rock never really dies, it just goes underground." - Bret MichaelsPosted 1 year ago # -
Yea,I still stick by my Vains of Jenna Rocket Queen idea.I hope they hear this, haha.yea, the massive hits would just get butchered.I've heard L.O.V.E. Machine by Loud N Nasty, and its pretty damn good

I try really hard not to get involved with the covers, coz I start fighting with myself about wether or not it's any good.
mmm k that sounded like I had mental issues : S"Rock never really dies, it just goes underground." - Bret MichaelsPosted 1 year ago # -
Totally, Id prefer if the band could make the song their own, like qr did not be just doing the exact same thing, like i like the pbf cover of toast of the town but it really dosnt add anything. But im totally in favor of paying homage to your roots or if you want to take a push some bounds like stryper did with shinning star or be like children of bodom and do oops i did it again and just have some fun whatever

if a band from now'a'days wants to cover an older song, let 'em. ONLY IF: the influence of the original band is clear. I'd HATE to find a band cover say...Motley Crue's Looks That Kill and then WikiAnswers the band and not see Motley in their influences. Ya' know?
