... What're you talking about? Axl Rose is God... at least I think so.
Anyway, I thought it was Izzy and Vince who had the dispute, and Vince claimed to have broken Izzy's nose and Izzy was just like "He had a free, full-on right hand punch and still didn't manage to cause any damage"...
Then he said he'd be happy to fight Vince whenever he wanted?Posted 9 months ago # -
Vince used to always wear a t-shirt that had the name Axl on with a line through it, I think it's safe to say he didn't like him.

I think considering his body of work, including chinese democracy, and how fantastic he is live, you can forgive him.
It's not like any of us actually know him, it could just be a media spin. Maybe he is private, maybe he is irrational, who cares? It's all about the music.Posted 9 months ago # -
it is all about the music amen to that

i have been reading through this thread tonight, and referencing YouTube for videos for comparison (after being a teen in the 80s one too many braincells are dead to remember it all) After viewing and viewing video after video i have several statements that i believe to be true.
Watching a video of the most recently filmed version of Axl and his band i found that the music behind the vocals was technically as precise as the original line up; however, when going to the video of the old school version of GnR i realized what the difference was. That difference was based on emotion. it is even evident in Axl's singing. When Slash plays a song, even if one is not watching Him do it, one can tangibly feel the emotion that He is sending through the strings. The same was true of Axl, as in the old school vids, one can actually see the emotion coming through Him, can feel the loneliness or joy that He evoked in a song. That is not evident in the way that Axl sings these days. it still is in Slash's playing though. If you have doubts as to this, i suggest watching Alice Cooper's 'Along Came a Spider' movie short. Slash is featured in the video/movie and when He plays it is still possible to 'feel' what He is sending out through the strings of His guitar. When i think of Axl Rose, i tend to think of Him in the late 80s early 90s. Part of the effect that He had on the teens of that era IMHO was his venture into sleaze. Much like the effect that Elvis Presley had upon the teens in His early career. Elvis was known for his hip movements, and for that time frame it was unheard of. The hip movements of Elvis though were nothing compared to the lithe sway and strokes of Axl Rose. Back in the day, Axl could make virtuous girls throw themselves into a fervor imagining being in bed with him. my thought on this is that either he was amazing there or the most conceited sob in existence.
While viewing on YouTube i found what i thought was one of the funniest videos and sadist in existence. it was from the superbowl where Slash performed a small section of Sweet Child of Mine with Fergie. *who the fuck is Fergie and why is she trying to do a GnR song?*
Slash with a bunch of other non glam performers.
i will end with that bit of horror.Seriously though, if you are going to make me go to karaoke then at least give me a couple shots of Jack before you make me listen to things like that.

Vh1 classic is saying guns is going on the road again soon. A few years back they were to Perform here after the chinese democracy album was released. They scrapped the concert and never gave any reason why. Axl no doubt had some tantrum and refused to play. I've been preaching for about a decade now that I still believe the original lineup will reform. Eventually at some point they will either be out of money or something else. Kiss for example said they would never play again with the original members, and they did. Proclaiming it was the Farewell tour 2000 , Same with Fleetwood Mac and the Eagles. Ozzy Osbourne back in 1992 said this would be the last time hed tour. It was for No More Tears, the shirts I bought even had The No More Tours Tour. The following tour was dubbed Retirement Sucks tour. He also still performs live to this very day. All these bands swore they'd never play again and did just the opposite. Id say to give it a few more years and guns will eventually reform in its original lineup.
When I saw the band live in San Francisco back in 1987 with Aerosmith they were steller. The music never missed a beat. They were electric and had chemistry. I think with a little work they could bring that back.
Fergie is big with the kids today. I put it down somewhere else in the forum, when your a mjor star in music its somewhat of a brotherhood. Rockers take a certain liking to pop stars and rappers and so on. When amy winehouse died people came out of the woodwork commenting on her death , Dave Mustane, Cher, Madonna and I think even slash gave their condolances. When michael jackson died even dolly parton put in her words of sorrow. Lucinano Pavaratti the opera singer sent Wendy Dio a box of flowers and a letter of condolance when we lost Ronnie. Music is weird like that.
