Do you like bands playing songs of your favorite bands of the 80s? I personally hate it, because often/often times, they screw up the song.

There are cover bands that are really good. One is called "Almost Queen". The lead singer sounds so much like Freddie Mercury it's frightening. Another on is called "Adrenalize". A Def Leppard cover band. They are amazing.

I will have to check out Almost Queen, if its as close to FM as you say that is. I still love my Queen, that will never change. I really wish he would have been one of the rockers to make it to his late 90's, couldn't you just imagine some of the stories he could tell? Sooooo loved his personality. :)

Some music covers are quite good actually, although the vast majority...terrible crimes against humanity!

I mean, some bands give the originals the due Credit they deserve. Others do it as a big joke, and not a very good joke either.

Cover bands who do it as a joke get no respect from me. If I ever see a cover band that sucked or was foul they will hear from me whether they want to or not.

If they're going to call themselves a cover band and imitate the original, then they should do it with some style. If they can't do it right, they shouldn't expect people to want to listen to them. Cause if the audience isn't coming to hear the original bands songs, why are they even there. If a band wants to do things their way, they shouldn't present themselves as a cover band.

I have heard some excellent cover bands. You can really tell when a band really tries to duplicate, or even improve the music. Without cover bands, some music would die off because the original band has disappeared.

i have much respect for cover bands so long as they do it right and dont make complete idiots of themselves if they pour their heart and soul's into then they have my respect if they just half ass it then they shouldnt bother because cover bands are kind of a way of bringing the old days back to life

I saw a KISS cover band once that was awesome. They had the costumes and makeup just perfect and they sounded just like them. Its been years, and I don't remember what they were called but I remember thinking it was dumb, something like "almost kiss" or "not quite kiss"... but anyway, with a better name they'd of really rocked.

Hey Animal, it might be hard for Twisted Bro to get out to Melbourne to see the awesome tribute bands we have here. He live in the USA.

Maybe because the USA gets too much good stuff their way, the cover bands are slacking off - whereas over here in Oz as we are so far away from the action, that we try to create something as close as we can get it to the real thing. Who knows? But poor old Twisted Bro is not getting out to see the right bands, that's for sure...

I've not seen a cover band that I've liked. I especially hate it when they call themselves a cover band and you go check them out and they have warped the music into their own and you can barely recognize the song.

Covers and tribute bands is an important part of keeping glam alive. Coz, if we relied on the current crop and fresh wave of glam coming through, it wouldn't be one blip on the radar.

I've seen some great Motley tribute bands and there an all girls Motley tribute out of New York that are great and I saw them last time I was in Jersey. They're called Girls Girls Girls...this is their Myspace page.

    Hot aren't they?

I am not opposed to cover bands.Atlantic City New Jersey has much more of a market for cover bands than for original music.I didn't think I appreciated cover bands, but that was before I started going to the KISS Expos. Now I know a lot of KISS Tribute bands.Theres some real talent out there.

What I can't stand is the bands that don't focus on a genre or band, but just do general Top 40 pop.Blah, they tend to have plain clothes and...well you couldn't tell them from the audience...and Atlantic City's not a glamorous town dispite what you might here about the casinos.

Anyhow I would recommend the bands my friends play in...they practice hard and their costumes are spot on and they try to get note for note with great choreography.

I don't really like cover bands.
It's kind of annoying if they don't have any of their own songs.
Because I think that's the whole point of a band...to create your own music.
Now, I have no problem with bands that do some covers, but if they consist entirely
of cover songs, then I probably won't like them. But it really does depend-
I mean, if they sound better or as good as the original band, then sure!
But seeing as how I don't think anyone could sound better than Guns N Roses or Motley Crue....
that would be hard to do.
