I was told this is the same thing as classic rock? Has anyone ever heard it before? I had a talk with a friend of mine, and I'm like WTH is this, and she started to name off bands from the 80's, then I felt dumb, but I still don't get why its "Daddy" rock. :(

I've never heard this term before!??!
I guess it's got something to do with nowadays most of the kids who grew up in the 80's are now fathers... So kids today would be looking at their Dad's old records and seeing all the 80's stuff he was into..

That certainly is a term worth killing off.

    DADDY ROCK?

    Wow, what a dumb name!

Anyway, I understand why it may be called that.

Still hate the name though, and it makes me feel very old :(

Why not just call it Glam Rock or Hard Rock, like they used to call it?
