Album covers (or CD covers now) arent what they use to be.
I took alot of my old albums and cut the album cover off and framed them. Decorating my game room with them. Meatloaf (Bat of out Hell), Quiet Riot (Metal Health), Scorpions (Blackout), Molly Hatchett (Flirtin' with Disaster) just to name a few.
But my question: What were some of your favorite album covers?

Mickmars I was being tongue in cheek about the comment above, don't ever take me seriously. It was to get people to check out the cover you know negative re-enforcement.

Yeah I know its pretty crazeee! I heard that when K Mart and other stores refused to carry it that they changed the cover. It was really unique, people read alot into it that isn't there. The whole bondage, or underage thing is bull shit I think, they were trying to push the envelope I am sure and it was to shock but it's just a naked chick who is pretty much covered up. That album by the way is pretty bad ass it is my favorite Scorpion album and Virgin Killer, the song I am pretty sure is about a serial killer, who well, kills virgins. I am with you there pretty unique cover glad you didn't take me seriously.

My personal favorite album covers. Didn't rally put all of em. These are just some random bands and most aren't really glam.

Damn me! I forgot the Manowar "Hail to England" cover! That is the one I forgot to put down. That Cannibal Corpse one is cool, as gruesome as their covers are their still cool and I like the title of their songs. I can't listen to them all the time but its the only death metal I can stand because I know they don't take themselves seriously knowing their horror movie buffs like I am.

    Dear God! The Hoffster! Thats the best of them all. You know what? when I was a kid I was a huge fan of that show Knight Rider, such a big fan that at 7 years of age when my parents were asleep (my dad just got done touring, this was in 87' when he got back from Texas)I got the keys to the pinto. I pretended that I was the Knight Rider and the car could talk like in the show. I turned on the car and got it into gear, but not in reverse but forward... right into a fucking oak tree smashing the front of my pop's car up, I was fine and I could barely reach the gas pedal. Boy was he pissed even today he makes me rake his yard when I visit him and I am 28 years old!

Cool. Too Cool. That album cover above is pretty sick and off the hook, I love it. A Japanese company was releasing a limited print of CD vinyl Scorpions "Virgin Killer" with the original art work that got banned. I got a copy from my friend who works at a record shop for like 6 bucks. The cover is the tame one but inside the vinyl sleeve is the CD of course and then the booklet which had the banned art. That Crystal Method cover looks like something could be on the front of some album for a thrash band. Pretty cool though, if I had a glam band I could think of so many cool ideas for covers. Hey thats a idea! Dorkstarmy, Mickmars and the Warrior should form a glam band so we can put out records with cool covers we don't even have to be good, we could suck if our covers were cool!

Another thing to all you people who dig controversial cover art, pick up this month's issue of Revolver September issue, the middle section of the magazine has controversial cover art, I was howling in laughter at some of the art and people were looking at me like I belonged in a insane asylum which I probably do. Since my computer is being stupid seem to not be able to put links up to the art, just check out the issue and put it up your self. The rest of it isn't bad for Revolver, a interview with Nikki Six (cool), Metallica claiming to get back to their 80's roots in their new Rubin produced album (skeptical "we'll see") and ground and pound by one of my favorite modern power metal bands Dragonforce! The rest of the magazine is filler in my opinion, but the album art section is worth the price alone only 6 bucks! Post the art if you can do it, because I can't.
