Steve Vai gets my vote, with Slash close behind.

Never cared much for Eddie Van Halen, even though he's a good guitarist. He just seems like a complete jackass, and he copied his style off lesser known guitarists before him.

I voted for George Lynch because of his meat and potatoes riffing, his amazing tone, his passionate technique; and most of all: For producing some of the greatest solos ever recorded!

Sleaze: GnR is NOT GnR without Slash, it's simple as that. But Axl Rose keeps getting weirder and weirder. We may never see another GnR album, and even if we did...it would be the flop to top all flops. There is simply no way Axl can match the anticipation he built.

maybe im confused but isnt steve perry the singer for journey?
    do you mean joe perry?

i like lynch, but man eddie van halen is definately talented because of skill and writing ability i also think hes possibly the only on this list that could still sit down and come up with an album of amazing riffs if he really wanted to.

but RATT is my favorite band of the genre and i love warren.

steve vai has always bothered me, i mean dont get me wrong his skill is amazing his ability equal to anyone.but ive never been impressed with his writing.i would much rather have a simple guitarist that makes classic simple riffs like sabbath or the stones anyday over a super skilled guitarist that makes nothing memorable.
i know vai started out with zappa and he almost outplayed ralph machio to defend the devils title :)
but i always think of him as the guy that didnt replace eddie very well when david lee roth went solo, and the guy that joined whitesnake after their biggest massive album ever then released a pretty forgettable follow up.

dont get me wrong i would give anything to have his skill but i would also give that skill up to be able to write like jimmy page.

still think that Vito Bratta was one of the best.

never understood why he gave Mike tramp such a hard time when he started up WHITE LION again.

he could have been in the band a few years ago, but he does not want to!

and now mike starts up the band again he started a lawsuit.

    start playing again VITO!

TOM KEIFER!!!!!! I think he puts so much passion into his live shows, as I've said many times. I think CC is really energetic as well. Slash, hes just amazing too!! And yeah, Joe Perry, hes amazing!! wow, theres so many to choose from. I also LOVE Warren DeMartini!! and Ritchie Sambora. heres one: Vinnie Vincent. I personally think the dude is strange, but his solos are crazy!!! I admit... I make fun of him sometimes though.....

Okay, my vote went to CC. There were many greats, but do you know how many of them took lessons from Satriani? Also, if you want a real mind fuck, listen to his version of Beethoven's Fifth.

I'd go for Joe Perry, but he's not listed. :( However, Eddie is right up there with him, as far as my favourite guitarists go.
Steve Vai is awesome - quite unbelievable!! :D
