Pete Steele, the vampiric, giant frontman of Type O Negative died of heart failure on April 14th.

Steele was an enormous dude! In both physical size and talent! He had one of the most unique voices in metal, and is one of my favorites because of that deep tone like Lurch from the "Addams Family". You'll be missed... R.I.P.

“There are no atheists in foxholes, they say, and I was a foxhole atheist for a long time. But after going through a midlife crisis and having many things change very quickly, it made me realize my mortality. And when you start to think about death, you start to think about what’s after it. And then you start hoping there is a God. For me, it’s a frightening thought to go nowhere. I also can’t believe that people like Stalin and Hitler are gonna go to the same place as Mother Teresa.” - Pete Steele

I always respected Type O Negative from the very beginning. I have a couple of their albums and still enjoy listening to the hits "Black No.1", "Love You To Death" and "My Girlfriend's Girlfriend".

Thanks SIXX-Again for bringing this to our attention.

    He will be sadly missed.

I had heard about this bad news ... :( I'm very sorry for him, I can not claim to know very well the Type 0 negative, but I find that their songs are great, and he had a beautiful voice ...

I felt so so sad about Peter's death.I loved, still love their music, and Peter's striking beauty.(Anyone else have his Playgirl pictures?Wow....)There was a fan gathering in Peter's memory at Duff's Bar in Brooklyn NYC on Halloween, which was Peter's favorite holiday.I arrived late because I always get lost in New York, but the owner of the bar is waaay kewl (he and Pete were good friends) and I was allowed to stay with the "inner circle" there til sunup so could have the rest of the day (Nov 1) in Manhattan (which was cold brrrrrr).
