From Glam to Metal to just plain partying it out with a Blacktooth Grin in one hand and his guitar in the other, we must all say Dimebag was one of the best and most influencial guitarists ever.
I'm a bassist and he influenced me heavily, infact i class him and jimi as the two best guitarists that ever lived.

Yeah he was one of the greats and it is so sa that he died the way he did. Pantera is one of my favorite metal bands and Dimebag was the band. But at least his memory will live on in all of the great guitar riffs he left us and in his many fans.

Dimebag was an amazing guitarist, but the last album he did that I really enjoyed was Cowboys From Hell back in 1990. All the Pantera albums after that still featured some amazing guitar work, but I just couldn't really get into the music. The vocals were one of the main problems, and that wasn't Dimebag's fault of course ;)

Cowboys from Hell yeah I remember that album. It has a song clash with reality that I really liked. I wonder why he called himself that?

Without a doubt I can fully agree on this and some still go "who is dimebag". I still do not understand those people.

Fun fact for those who may not remember: During Pantera's Glam phase back in the 1980's, his original nick name was "Diamond" and it wasn't until around Cowboys From Hell that he decided to change it to "Dimebag"

As for what Dimebag is in reference to...I think you could probably figure it out

Actually, it was Diamond D and he explains one thing in a Rebel Meets Rebel song that his wife once was out looking for a dimebag and people thought 'it was some chick looking for dope'.

Actually I would have to double check on that, but I am near positive he was credited as "Diamond Darrell" on at least one of the 1980's albums, possibly all of them. You may be right on the Dimebag origin story at least though.

Maybe she was some chick out looking for dope and she just gave her husband a new nickname rather than get busted. But anyway... yeah, I'd have to agree with other opinions in this thread Dimebag was amazing and Cowboys from Hell was a great album.

Diamond D was written on the mixer in the music video for Hot n' Heavy

That is in the Music Video though, and I was talking about who he was credited as in the album credits and linear notes. Also that video is the only reference I have found to him ever being called "Diamond D" instead of Diamond Darrell or Dimebag Darrell.

I really am into Pantera (not as much as KISS) and into KISS as much as Darrell. But I really do miss him, and his guitar playing. I saw Pantera four or five times during their latter days, but I really liked CFH and Vulgar Display of Power. And "Cemetary Gates" is one of my all-time fav. songs.

The "Diamond" part is true. There are two diamonds at the bottom of the shirt I bought when Dime got shot. And having a "Blacktooth Grin" is a tasty drink. Seagram's is a staple in our house.
