Oh bother.... The topic says Randy Rhoads or Angus Young, but the poll has Randy Rhoads and Mick Mars. I chose Randy Rhoads without looking at the other choice, assuming it was Angus Young, but I would have chosen Mick if I had noticed he was actually the other choice. Bleh.

Nothing against Mick whatsoever
but I just HAD to choose Randy.
Randy was on a whole 'notha level.

I saw this and nearly died.
Mick Mars.
Definitely, no competition!

Mick Marrs. I think Randy is kick ass, but I grew up on Motley. I respect Mick because he has had ankolosing spondylitis for years and was in tremendous pain, but he still kept jammin. I never knew that till recently. His spine is basically like concrete and somehow he managed to play some of the greatest songs ever. Talk about a Guitar Hero! He's got my vote.~AJ~

Mick Mars. the only reason Randy is so popular is because hes dead. Im not saying hes not a great guitarist. i mean he wrote Crazy Train, im just saying that Mick Mars is too underrated.
Anything worth doing, is definatly worth over doing!Posted 3 years ago # -
Mick lays it down like a mother but Randy conducts and plays orchestra's on his guitar. Randy isn't so popular because he is dead, it is because he was a awesome and intelligent player. Any guitar player will tell you that. For my money it is Randy.

Most definitely Randy Rhoads.
Mick has nothing on him .Posted 2 years ago # -
that was a bit cold...poor mick.
but let's see...i like mick's style better..it's more...metalish, if you know what i mean.
but never the less Randy was great!
I gotta say Mick Mars.
xDPosted 2 years ago # -
i hate you for making this thread lol
this is really hard to say
but im going with Mick Marsthe respect i have for mick is because he does not know music theory and yet he is so creative and his style is so unique to other guitarists of the 80s
Randy is really great too though he was also very unique but he did have music theory down and was a guitar teacher
so you could say either wayits really hard to make a decision lol

and plus Mick Mars still gets up there and plays his best and he has that disease which causes him pain..like ALL the time.
i feel bad for that man.Posted 2 years ago # -
I can't vote on this one!
They both are two of my fave. guitar players!!
No one can touch eather of them ever!*New Pix* http://www.myspace.com/timmydepaul

Randy F'ing Rhoads. Sorry to those who love Mick! This isn't even fair for Mick. Randy Rhoads started Quiet Riot, He than Jump started Ozzy's career, If it wasn't for Randy everyone that Loves 80's metal mind as well not be on this board. Cause Quiet Riot would eventually go to number 1 opening the flood gates for such guys as Motley Crue. And without Randy, Ozzy would be just a former member of Black Sabbath. Ozzy's signature songs that he plays at all his concerts come mostly from his first two albums. Not to mention that anyone that plays any type of neo classic owes it to Rhoads. listen to Rhoads early Quiet Riot CD's or his live solos with QR and you can hear parts for Dee, Believer, Mr. Crowley among others. Oh I forgot to add that all those guitars that have the offset V body, yeah Randy designed that body and Jackson made. Sorry Mick, I love the Crue but Randy has way too much on you!

- Shaggzillanot trying to be a dick, but techincally the 80s were already set to happen since KISS the Dolls and Van Halen
but Randy did do a lot for the 80s

Yeah the 80's were going to happen but if not for Quiet Riot, metal would not have been seen as a large commerical force. It was Quiet Riot going to number 1 on the billboards that showed the world Metal bands could be marketed thus opening the doors for bands like Motley Crue, Guns N Roses Ect. Metal was all but dead in the late 70s due to punk, disco and more mainstream rock. The early metal scene that started in the late 70's in LA and the New wave of british metal that was coming over would eventually become the glam metal scene. If not for Rhoads forming of QR and jump starting Ozzy's career again, metal may have taken a diffrent course. Ozzy probably wouldn't be as known today and many of the bands that we love on this board may have had a harder time becoming mainstream.

Mick Mars ..... let me explain why!
Randy was a better guitar player
Randy wrote better songs
Randy looked better and was so much cooler........... however Mick Mars wrote and played on the Too Fast For Love album ..... in my eyes that's game over !!

Okay, I know I already put my two cents in this!! but lets just start out by saying Randy was what 25 or 26 when he died.. okay how old is Mick Mars and he still to this very day isn't as good as Randy to me.. Everyone say you have to hear Randy's stuff with Quiet Riot!! Well he couldn't have been but 22 or 23 when he was doing all this.. and listen to the lead in Mr. Crowley. WOWOWOOWOWOWOWOWOWOW!!
