Many would argue that the main difference between old glam and new glam is the music. What the hell happened to the superstars of the eighties? I was blown away at how un-loyal the fans of these artists were when Kurt Cobain and Nervana hit the scene. The entire music scene just completely and totally shifted! Suddenly, (overnight) if you were a superstar heavy-metal hair-band, your career was pretty much over and the majority of your fans were gone. Fuckin weird, huh?

As most good things do, GLAM has made a comeback, only it's very DIFFERENT now. I personally think it's different/better now. I don't expext everyone to agree with me. If you compare Alice Cooper or Kiss to Marilyn Manson you will see a noticible and obvious difference in style and make-up, they are very similar only more modern now, which makes sense. (If you have a good example, (or better) feel free to leave it!)

I think that another major effect on today's glam scene is the internet and the general public's access to cool rock-star style clothes and make-up as well as access to music and artist/fan websites. Remember, there was no internet in the 80's!!

The music today is much different, mainly because it is made different. I can't imagine an artist releasing anything today that was not either recorded or mixed or mastered or ALL on a computer! But it all comes down to the same thing: ROCK-N-ROLL and a hell of a show!

    Thanx 4 reading!!

Old school glam is way better. There are a few good newer ones, but I don't consider any of them real different and amazing... like, you don't see any "Guns N Roses" these days. Now obviously we won't ever see another Guns N Roses but I mean, in terms of being different, creative, edgy... you just don't see bands like that anymore. They're either completely ripping off Motley Crue or trying to be "different" but just don't sound too good.

However, some newer bands I like are (not all strictly glam): Vains Of Jenna, Crimson Coven (I don't think they're together anymore), Showgirl Suicide, Baby Jane, Chains, Axident Avenue, and Justin Zane. And of course my boyfriend's band, Hellspeed. But they're not really glam, aha.

I prefer old glam way better than the new glam. It's like the original and the original is always better. New glam is certainly good but I'll always prefer old.

i prefer the old glam(motley crue, poison, kiss, etc.)only because they are the founders of it and they still carry on the tradition of it.

    It's all good.

I like bands like Crashdiet and Crazy Lixx as much as I like Danger Danger or Motley Crue.

Is there a Glam that I don't like? FFS! Get real, I love glam rock, Glam METAL111, Sleaze (GnR), Bubblegum Glam, Glam Punk, Death Glam, and Gothic Glam! Give me hot pink hair, leather, spandex, leopard print, some fangs, and my mp3 player and I'm a glamttastically happy girl! I've encountered bands that I don't care for and bands that I am crazy about, but if it is glam in any way, shape, or form you better believe that I'll be there!

I like 80s-90s glam/sleaze the best overall though my fave band is the original New York Dolls from the 70s. Slade, Queen, Sweet, Mott the Hoople etc were great, but a little too tame for my taste.

A glam/sleaze band should have good songs, be obnoxious and out-of-control, and look fabulously trashy the whole time. It doesn't matter what era they are from if they have that formula.

Back in the day all of those bands from my previous post were considered glam or glitter rock. TRex and David Bowie too. The glam/sleaze rock that was popular in the 80s was very different of course.

the 80's glam was the best glam to me but it was kinda sad because all of the bands then just copied off each other

For me it seems like the few new now are less than the ones years ago that sucked. Does that make any sense? Say whatever % eons ago that sucked, and the % now of the few that don't suck, well the old outweighs the new I guess.

Ok so Old School glam is totally 70's but I can also see how 80's can be concidered old now (geeze that's scary) but they are 2 different styles! I mean, I think 70's I think silver platform boots, space-suits and glitter! Not to mention Bowie & T Rex. 80's is allll about the big hair and the spandex! I wasn't aware we had new glam bands out there really though some do start to appear that way. I think Marilyn Manson can be counted as a form of Dark Glam. He's not Goth, that's for sure. He's gone so far as to alter his look to the extreme, even copying Bowie himself and admitting he was his childhood hero! Now, I don't listen to a lot of the newer bands out there but visually, Tokio Hotel looks VERY glam.

I really dig the old school glam like T.Rex and The New York Dolls but i love the 80s glam as well. But new glam is pretty cool too like Sister Hyde, Crash Diet and Loud n Nasty

I like the older stuff the best (Poison, Crue, Kiss, etc), but i do like the new stuff to. I think it is kinda cool that bands are resurrecting this genre. It is amazing when you see the amount of new scandanavian glam bands that are doing it the old school way. The fans that deserted glam metal were never really fans in the first place, they just thought because it was cool to like this kinda music it was for them.
