Bret Michaels has whored himself & the Poison legacy out to the anti-Christ: MILEY FUCKING CYRUS!!!!!! > :(

Miley Cyrus(with the HELP of Bret Michaels!)is recording a cover of Poison's "Every Rose Has Its Thorn". That's more than a thorn...That's a dagger through my glam loving heart... Why Bret? Why? At the very least why give your blessing by helping her in the studio?

Anyway, it reminded me of some other thorns in the rose of glam rock. Which do you think is the worst?

**Carrie Underwood's cover of Crue's "Home Sweet Home"!!

**Mariah Carey's cover of Def Leppard's "Bringing On The Heartbreak"!!

**Shakira's cover of Aerosmith's "Dude Looks Like A Lady"

And...brace yourself, and get those barf bags ready:

**CELINE DION'S cover of AC/DC's "You Shook Me All Night Long"!!!

I would post the hilarious video samples but...I don't know how(help?)...Check 'em out on Youtube if you haven't seen them before.

Shakira also does a version of "Black in Black". It's fun to watch *drools* but horrible to listen to.

Haha, I think thats class, personally. Pop Princess doing fuckin' Rock 'n' Roll! Its soo out of bounds and wrong, its bluddy cool.

We should have our bands do it the other way around, now. Have Motley Crue cover Toxic by Madonna, hahahaha. Cinderella do 'Oops I Did It Again'.

This is an interesting debate. I personally disagree and think that covers are a great way to promote original songs. The back catalog of glam is massive and as most of our favourite bands have had hits the first time round I think it is only fair that other artists should be allowed to have a crack.

It is a well know fact that many albums feature a cover to pay tribute to respected artists and so on... Poison have had their day so if they released "Every Rose Has Its Thorn" it would bounce as high as the sky :(

Bret has put the song in good hands. Imagine a dance or rap version? Miley Cyrus has the backing, fan base and credibility to pull this off. It would be great to see her do well with this song cos many people will get to hear the Poison track. If Bret is happy we should accept that and support his decision. I think it is great that he bothered to get involved with the recording too. If we are lucky then it may trigger airplay of the orignal or maybe start a rock/glam ballad covering trend...

No one is forcing us to listen to these songs. Sure if Miley or any of the other artists were taking the piss then stand up and shout!

I'm not sure about Miley seing Poison live back in the day as she was born 1992:

Posion's hit "Your Mama Don't Dance" was a cover:

Come on Miley & Bret, beat this fucking shit. Here is the No.1 in the UK (Jan 2010):

No worries SixxShooter It took me ages to come round to the fact that covers would be done of my favourite songs, glam or not :(

For the record Britney Spears recorded but didn't write the song Toxic, it was written by Norwich born Cathy Dennis among others. Even the Beatles did covers, "Twist And Shout" anyone? Songs are not always tied to specific bands or artists and that's the point of this music industry rant :)

Didn't realize the antichrist was so cute.

Well, if she's getting help from Bret it might actually end up sounding quite legit. Hope they get CC to do that yummy solo he does in that tune!

Wait, Celine Dion did AC/DC??? I gotta check that out on Youtube! 8O It's one of those things... You know it's gonna sound like shit, but you just have to see/hear it to believe it.

Btw, Finnish death metallers Children of Bodom did a cover album. One of the tunes there was a death metal version of Britney's "Oop, I did..." No kidding!

I've always had kind of a thing for Mariah Carey. She was always one of my "desert island" women. Especially now I know she could sing me some Def Lep while we're there!

Shakira... It boggles the mind how a girl who looks THAT hot, ends up sounding like a constipated goat when she starts singing.

So who's the worst... Celine. First she did that horrible Titanic song and now she's butchered my favorite AC/DC tune. That puts her in first position.

And I totally agree that cover tunes are great, Retroman! BUT...and we're talkin Jennifer-Lopez-&-Kim-Kardashian-combined-sized BUT: ONLY IF THEY'RE GOOD.

This sounds like the best thing ever to be honest. I love Bonnie Tyler.

Her version of Hide Your Heart is SO much better than the KISS one.. not a patch on Ace's though

Can I vote every single fucking one on that list!? What the fucking hell, I mean I know most of these artists record songs written for them or do covers but please leave my music alone will you? Stick to the pop writing machine that keeps you rolling in money, mansions, cars and multiple partners. In other words hands off my FUCKING music!

Difference is they paid their dues and deserve every penny they got... they actually wrote their own songs and didn't have the honor of some record company picking them for looks and manufacturing everything about them. Just saying...

    How very, very true!

Meanwhile I've watched all the videos and actually Celine Dion's version of "You shook me..." wasn't horrible.

My vote now goes to Mariah Carey's "Bringing on the heartbreak". Too bad, cuz I reckon she's a total babe, but she just totally butchered that song till it's even barely recognizable!

I can't say i don't. She's sorta in the middle for me. She's not the kind of music i like, but she's not the kind i don't like either. She's alright in my opinon. (Now if half my friends heard this i'd get slaped...)

I had the opinion that other artists covers of famous songs can sometimes be good(for example I like Paint it Black from the Stones and from W.A.S.P.) But this is a different...style? I can't even listen to it.

If Bret thinks this will get him a bigger audience and younger fans I think he's wrong. Miley fans are just gonna think Miley came out with a new song. Carrie Underwood covered Home Sweet Home and my friends still dont know who Mötley Crüe is.

I get what you mean! When Carrie Underwood redid Home Sweet Home, everybody I knew thought it was just Carrie out with a new song. I hated that- I had to break the news to my sister that it was not her song, it was the Crue's. And she stopped liking it after I told her that.

the taylor swift and def leppard videos are insulting, Leppard are almost flawless tho, its just taylor thats awful.
her voice is mediocre and cliched, her range is limited and she looked like a ceqins threaded through cowshit.

I heard bret and miley do every rose on the radio the other day and i immediatly thought of my favorite site (glamrock.com). It goes to show that people will do anything for money these days, even if it means dissapointing the diehard Poison fans here! I wonder which glam god will sell out next? god forbid the crue pulls a stunt liek that and i'll put a bullet between my glitter crusted eyes!
