Still got those MUTE BUTTONS on?
Remember, this isn't about who PLAYED the best, it's about who had the coolest style/look. Whose look/moves did you mimic when you air-guitared in the mirror?
Here are THE BASS PLAYERS:
**NIKKI fucking SIXX--The man, the myth, the legend! The black mane of wild hair(that remains long to this day!), bass held low. The "Shout At The Devil" look is what sold me on this band before I'd heard a note of music... Anyway...You know the man's look/style--I'm showing too much favoritism on this one...
**ERIC BRITTINGHAM--The Cinderella bassist and his picture perfect palm tree of blonde hair from the "Night Songs" period. Like C.C. DeVille, this dude belongs in the How To Look Glam book. Bonus points for holding his bass low like Nikki Sixx.
**RUDY SARZO--The go-to bassist for metal bands. He makes this list for having some of the coolest moves for a bass player. Some are on the cheesey side--like the finger licking--but still cool, but the over-handed fret style and bottom of the strings strumming -- KICK ASS.
**JUAN CROUCIER--The Ratt-man! This fucker is another personal favorite of mine! Like a hyper little brother he ran to the front of the stage instead of hanging back like a lot of bass players. His moves were named(and hated)by his bandmates. But I love 'em all: The "gyro-copter", the "dive-bomber", the "spinning-top", etc. A true entertainer!
**JEFF PILSON--The Dokken bassist makes the list for his style more than anything. The dude, like George Lynch, played his instrument like he was pissed off at it. He'd beat the strings rather than play them. Now that's metal.
**BOBBY DALL--The Poison bassist is here because, like all members of Poison, his look was a defining-look for glam rock.
**BLACKIE LAWLESS--This one I almost didn't include here, because he belongs on the lead singer list. But that list will be hard enough to limit to a few. Blackie is in a league all his own--You know the look! Like Mick Mars and Nikki Sixx rolled into one. You know the manic style he did everything(and still does)! The BEAST! Oh, yeah, he played with W.A.S.P., like I even needed to say that...
