Here's a topic I was discussing with my girlfriend recently. It was to do with Tim Kelly (Slaughter) dying at 35 in a car crash.

Would you like to have a rockstar life style such as Tim but die young OR would you live a normal long life???

I'm undecided so far, but the rockstar life is really tempting...

The big question - Is it worth trading a long life for just a short period of Rock 'N' Fucking Roll ?

it's defident;y worth tradeing a long life for a short period of rock n roll. i mean i would rather be on stage entertaining fans until i die at age 30 or something than live a long ass boreing life in an unhappy marriage and bratty ass kids who want to put me in a home

I dont know! I always lived by the "here for a good time not a long time" moto but after hearing an interview with Nikki Sixx talking about his book he pretty much tried to explain "NO DONT DO THAT!" Live long and enjoy life!
Pretty much now i always try to live as "I never know when my time is up" so enjoy it while you can.

I'm 35 right now, so it's too late for me!

How about living to be 83 and leading Hugh Hefner's life? Not too shabby for me...

Rather do what I want to do and have a short life than live a long boring one like I am right now  It depends on how I'd die though, I think you'd have to rule out drug or drink related death with me, if I was a rock star and died it'd be in a tour bus or airline crash.

Hang in there Retroman, things can only get better if they totally blow. It seems like everybody is in the shit hole right now. It stinks down here I agree, anyways that sucks about Tim, I mean shit he's only 5 years older than me. Man do I feel old.

Cheers man, things arn't that bad yet.

I tell you one thing, I'd rather have my life than swap with the Boyzone member who just died! The boy band life style does nothing for me - going on tour in a long hair rock 'n' roll band - Yeah!!!

life is short anyway, you have to enjoy it while you can.
i'd rather have 100 times more fun partying and rocking out and live half as long as i could working 9-5 and going home to a boring marriage and nagging kids.

well its far more compelling to tell a tale of Jim Morrison(or dave leppard even) than some guy that lives down the road is it not?
back to mr.Leppard, the phrase "die young, live forever" is often used. its a pretty good way to think about it

As much as I wish I was a rockstar, I'd want a normal life more. Actually I really wanna be a groupie, but alas, things aren't the same anymore ): I swear I was born 2 decades too late

things are different, but there are still loads of great rock bands running the circuit that would love a team of adoring groupies

I'd hate to have a normal life. It makes me depressed just thinking about it.
I want to be a Rockstar, and I'm gonna be a Rockstar - even if that means an early death.

"LIVE FAST, DIE YOUNG, LEAVE A GOOD-LOOKING CORPSE"

    8) As they say.

This is actually a major theme in a 80s Glam Metal screenplay I'm working on: Three members of a four member undiscovered 80s glam band struggle with having become old & uncool men after being worshipped in the 80s. The fourth member committed suicide after glam faded(along w/ his dreams of stardom) & grunge took over. The other guys(dealing with 9 to 5 jobs, divorces, hip-hop kids, balding & weight-gain, etc.) struggle with temptations to do the same. It's a drama/comedy.

I get somewhat depressed seeing my rock heroes that haven't aged well: Vince Neil, Don Dokken, Jani Lane, Axl Rose, Eddie Van Halen, most of Twisted Sister... I also hate seeing them slowly fade away like Mick Mars is and Robin Crosby did...

Then again -- Look at Nikki Sixx, Tommy Lee, Bret Michaels(forget about the hair thing, he looks great!), Joe Perry, George Lynch, Tom Keifer, Dee Snider & Steven Tyler(ugly as they are), Slash...They all look great & still rocking.

If we're talking lifestyle: Rocker or average-Joe. I'd definitely pick the rocker's life. I'd rather have fucked the chicks, drank the liquor, done the drugs, and rocked the masses for a decade of decadence than never to have done shit.
