the suger hill gand and bands like that was when it was actually pretty cool to listen to, so i am gonna have to agree with you on that one. But now adays the shit really gets on my nerves likt that dick rida dude sampleing the chorus to like a record by dead or alive proves that rappers have no talent these days. They can't write their ongs, they have to sample everyonelse's hits. But when they do write their own shit, it's usually about weird ass bullshit that only they can understand

I don't like hip-hop at all. I don't have anything against it and people who like it, but it's just way too boring for me.

I made a post about this same subject a month ago. It seems to me a majority of people have good taste. I agree with Pete, don't have anything against people who like the music, theres just nothing to it. The old school rap had a edge I'll admit, groups like Sugar Hill, Run DMC, Public Enemy, Beastie Boys, and Arrested Development had instruments in their bands. Can't stand sampling, its fucking ripping off other artists instead of creating your own thing, when most rap revolves around samples and even somebody else's drum beats I just don't find it music. Modern Rap blows donkey dick and bands who just sample suck it even harder.

Today me and this guy at work were talking about Motley Crue and Ratt. We're the only guys at work besides our night sports guy who digs glam, and theres this other jerk off who works there and dresses like a "gangsta". He calls himself a cript or some shit, he's whiter than vanilla and lives in the Concord district which is in our town the upper middle class McMansion area with his mom. In fact his mom got him the job at my place, of course he listens to rap and he is a complete douche bag. So as we're talking he walks by sneers and goes "Yo dogs, y'all listen to that old man music". I turn to him and go "Oh you mean real music?" He walks off all pissed off and he wouldn't talk to me all day, it was great.

I have to disagree with most of here on this topic.
I am a music lover, everything from Gypsy Kings to Dimmu Borgir (just an example lol) and I think some old hip hop/rap is good for the fact they are writing about 'real' things and 'real' situations, mostly about being on streets and the shit that they hate around them and if im not mistaken most rock n roll bands sing about that as well.
But I do hate the shit that has no meaning and they are speaking about shit that is unoriginal (bitches, guns, drugs) but yet again I could name hundreds of Rock songs that are about bitches and drugs lol.

But on a day to day basis GLAM all the way :D

Hip hop is in my opinion crap, musicians and listeners that truley apperciate music alike think its crap.It lacks emotion and theres the human element also missing there becouse of the samplers, drum machines, and all that shit thats piled in the recording.Good music played by good musicians is alaways better!

.....more pointless than tits on a fucking bull...

    LOVE THAT lmfao

I do not generally like hip hop but the OLD SCHOOL stuff like RUN-DMC and Sugar Hill Gang I can appreciate.Or sometimes an intelligent and female-empowerment lyric from Queen Latifah where she says we chicks are not a bitch or a ho.

But I'm sick of thug culture and the violence and bragging it glorifies.

I just left a showbiz NING site because almost all the men on it were rappers.I was the lone rocker chick.Talk about feeling out of place! And,everybody was posting their rap songs and plugging their shows, but the one blog I wrote, about the Importance of Professionalism (about models and photographers showing up and doing their jobs etc.) was ignored. Not a single damn response.

I don't wanna come right out and say they were racist but I gotta wonder.....

Hip Hop/Rap is like Grunge. There's some good stuff(very little & peaked in quality in the 90s) and there's some utter SHIT(pretty much everything out nowadays)!!!!

But, like Grunge, I hate the attitudes of the people that love the music. Like the depressed bitches that "lived" the grunge-lifestyle, the people that "live" the rap/hip-hop lifestyle are MORE PATHETIC!!

I HATE white boys & my fellow Latinos that talk like they're straight out of 'da hood'!

I HATE the pants hanging below the ass -- I don't wanna see your fucking underwear!! Or worse, the shorts that are enormous and worn so low that they might as well be pants!

I HATE the "GRILLS" and "DA BLING"(i.e. gold teeth & jewelery)!

I HATE the enormous basketball jerseys!

AND I REALLY HATE when the rappers/hip hoppers wear GNR or AC/DC shirts(XXXXLg of course!)!!!!!! You know they don't give two shits about the bands!! It's be like me wearing a Lil Wayne or 50 Cent shirt!!

BUT MOST OF ALL -- I DESPISE WHEN RAPPERS FUCK WITH GREAT CLASSIC SONGS:

EVEN MY FAVORITE 80s NEW WAVE TUNES ARE BECOMING VICTIMS OF RAPPERS & THEIR LIMITED MUSICAL WRITING SKILLS! Compare the original "Forever Young" by Alphaville & the RAPED BY RAP version by Jay-Z called "Young Forever":

AS THEY SAY: RAP stands for Retards Attempting Poetry!

I can see Sixx calling the adoption beareu when he reads that, LOL

    Im kidding.
THAT WAS PROBABLY A STEP TOO FAR

I voted 'Its ok but Glam Rock is waaaaay better' 'cos, well. I have nothing else to say, LOL. Well put, sir!

I must agree though, I hate Whiteboyz who try and be gangsta. Theres a cat like that in our school, hahaha. He's white with an english and french backround and he's plastered in freckled, urgh. And he's a 'prefect' or some in school - Y'know, a toilet monitor in other words!

Although, we actually have a Toilet Monitor rank, haha. He's got a badge and everything. I KO'd him, kinda, last week, hilariously. Not on purpose, LOL.

I grew up with a mexican best friend who loved bonethugz n harmony,so back then I would listen to them all the time.he had a jeep with an insane amount of bass that he had installed himself, with like 13 neons throughout the inside.I didn't like to waste gas,so he drove his car anytime we'd go anywhere.I listened to rock music at the time, and he liked hair metal actually.cool guy.I've lost touch with him over the years.but anyway,he'd smoke Black & Milds heavily,so it would be dark out,we'd be on our way to go see a movie at the theatre that was in the ghetto,Kankakee(for anyone who knows that part of Illinois, haha) with the bass blaring, neons flashing, and thick smoke pouring out of the cracked windows.haha,it was like living a thug movie.good times, haha.but yea, bonethugz were pretty deece to listen to when I absolutely had to listen to that genre.some classic bonethugz, are Weedman,Crossroads,Ressurection(paper, paper),and First Of The Month.the thing that I think that made it ok to listen to them,is the singing that they incorporate.Bizzy Bone in particular.some notable solo songs of his are,Demons Surround Me,Nobody Can Stop Me,and On The Freeway.now remember, this was before I was glam.at this point in time I was big on postgrunge like nickelback, smile empty soul, the exies, puddle of mudd, submersed, hoobastank, and 3 doors down.I was a football player.I was very different back then, haha.but every now and then, ill go on youtube and listen to a bonethugz song to reminisce of all the good times Id had with my buddies as a kid.like I've said many times,I wish I had gotten into glam earlier like a lot of these guys on this site are at like 15 and 16.that would have been a good time

I'm actually a huge fan of Public Enemy, Ice-T, and Too $hort. Give me the 80s class rap acts anyday. However, I have a huge dislike towards modern rap such Lil Wayne and what not.

I understand if you hate modern rap as much as I do.
