- hairmetalharlotHell, they were good when they were thrash as well (Power Metal sorta and Cowboys From Hell). Now the groove metal stuff they did afterwards was pretty shitty.

thrash metal is pretty cool. i like anthrax, megadeth, and metallica. slayer sucks though...

Are those the only thrash bands you know though?

I really like Pantera. And, since that is what this thread is about, letz talk about them.

I just find it a bit ironic that you mentioned all four bands out of the big 4 of thrash. which happen to be the most known thrash bands, but if you want to get into thrash, listen to shit like Exodus, Overkill, Vio-Lence, Heathen, early Sepultura, and if you want more extreme shit, listen to Kreator, Dark Angel, and Sodom.
That's not to say that the big four of thrash isn't great either. Megadeth and early Metallica kick ass!

Deal with it Move on with your lives. If this continuez, I will just close the fuckin thread. Okay -- Bitch mode over. Please forward any need to vent hate mail to me at Broncotwerp@live.com -- Thanx

Watch the videos for All Over Tonight and Hot 'N' Heavy. I'd post them myself, but I can't be arsed to do so at the moment. Ironically, they used to deny having a glam metal phrase, and always used to claim that Cowboys From Hell was their first album. It's also ironic, because listening to their 80s albums got me into glam in the first place.

Glamtera rule! I have Projects In The Jungle on vinyl- 'tis a great album. I bought Far Beyond Driven on a whim years ago and hated it.
I read an article that mentioned their 'Power Metal' album. It took me ages to 'acquire' a copy, but a friend gave me a CD with the discography and I was hooked on their first five albums (up to CFH).
And much like IWP, I only had a passing interest in Glam Metal up until that point (mostly from what I'd heard on V-Rock in GTA Vice City), but these albums got me hooked.
Terry Lee was a great singer too. Kinda like a cross between Vince Neil and Joe Elliot.
I would kill for a tour shirt from the 83-88 era.

Thanks IWP, dude! Pantera was a pretty kick ass glam band, I don't know why they hide that part of their past. Awesome stuff.

I know why, because glam isn't "cool" anymore. That, and because they're a bunch of tough guy dumbass rednecks that haven't made a decent album since Cowboys From Hell.
Posted 3 years ago # -
Too true, they really haven't made a decent album since Cowboys from Hell, I am glad somebody else has the same opinion. People just hate glam because it is hip to do so, not because they have ever heard any songs. When I usually quiz these hipsters, coolies clenched with three fingers pinkie out what songs they hate by the band they listed, they snort sweeping their 100 dollar hair styled wedge out of their manicured eyebrows and snort "All of them." Give me a specific song then I reply. They usually turn beet red for a second, their elitist snob guard let down for a second then they regain their composure and shrug their shoulders and say "Your such a bore I am done here". Walk off in their 300 dollar a pair designer hip hugger jeans while I laugh at them. I know the people who hate glam and I just fucking pity them, I just wish Pantera wouldn't cowtow to those bastards and had held true to their roots.

i already mentioned somewhere on this forum that about a little bit over a year ago i acquired Metal Magic from a mom and pop record store worker.i had learned that pantera used to be glam and wrote out the albums before CFH on a piece of paper for him to order for me,like i would do every week.(i was always ordering cds at like 15 at a time.yea,i spent my paycheck every week on cd's,haha.the store worker was in his 40's,so he loved hair/glam metal)He was like,"dude,i dont see anything for those.theres no way ull get them.I have Metal Magic at my house.if u want it,ill bring it in for u." that made my day.i listened to that shit over and over again, and i fell in love with the Glamtera sound.now,a year later,i just so happen to be living in Arlington,TX.Dime's old house is just down the street from me. theres this mom and pop record store across the street from my house that i just found out about.went in there to check it out,and they had(since theyre from around here) Projects In The Jungle,I Am The Night, and Power Metal on display for sale.my eyes lit up and i told the guy ill take all 3.the dude was like,"damn, ive had these for a long time, didnt think anyone would buy them." 10 bucks i got all 3 for.and that first one i got for free.so it came out to a grand total of 10 bucks for the whole collection of Glamtera.PRETTY DAMN GOOD DEAL!!!! I feel pretty damn lucky. i kno i dont even have to say it,but i will.Glam Pantera kicks some serious ass and i encourage all to go out and TRY AS HARD AS YOU CAN to get these albums in your collection.it will change your life.just wat glam metal does, listening to these Glamtera songs just makes you feel so good after hearing them.i dislike phil for his screaming, but on his debut with Power Metal, hes money.i wish they didnt change their sound.its hard to pick a fave album, but Projects In The Jungle is damn near a flawless hair metal album.here's the single most greatest Pantera song ever.and im glad youtube has it,so i can show everyone how great it is.they sound like early def lep circa On Through The Night and High N Dry:
its amazing how genius they were adding keyboards to their sound back then.sure makes alot of those songs workPosted 1 year ago # -
Proud To Be Loud, i saw a comment on one of their videos on youtube saying "Pantera more like Van-Tera"

awesome find Dash! it was a nice surprise to see that any of the 'Glamtera' music actually found its way home here. brought back some nice memories for this old glam girl

Haha. I was talking to this guy about music and he always mocks me about likeing glam and about how its not real metal and stuff. Any way, he told me that I should listen to real "metal" and then listed a whole heap of poser nu-metal band and also Pantera. Kinda ironic that he metioned one of the biggest sell-outs in thrash music. Also kinda funny that I do like Pantera and that he's from San francisco.

Haha, it is kinda funny how alot of fans of them dont even know about it lol. But of course everyone where I live knows all about them. Everyone I talk to says how they swore they went to school with Dime or knew him personally in some way

yeah i remember watchin behind the music i dunno why they had to change from a hair band to that fuckin grunge/heavy metal wanna be shit
