What would you give or pay for a piece of merchandise of your favourite band or idol.
I have just bid on e-bay for a Rare Marc Bolan c.d.(Loony As August).
This cost £75.00 or about $150.00,I would have gone a lot higher if I had needed to.
What would you give?..

What would you give?

For a rare cd, a maximum of £40/$80, although I haven't paid that much in a long time. For memorabilia, I'd rather get it for free - like gig mementos (set lists/picks/drum sticks etc.). The only exception is rock shirts at gigs, I will pay up to £20/$40 for a nice official shirt, but I'm quite picky. They rarely make shirts I like enough to buy.

- bolanboogieNice score and you didn't pay too much. It'll only go up in value.

...my life. LOL. JK.
Well, depends on what it was.
If it was a CD, ehh...I don't know.
Unless it was signed or something.
What I really want to get my hands on though,
is some kind of clothing item that Axl Rose wore.
Like that white Guns N Roses jacket.
I'd probably spend my life's fortune to have that.ADD ME ON MYSPACE! http://www.myspace.com/misty_riversPosted 3 years ago # -
Depends how much cash/debt I had at any given time!
That pretty much sums it up lol. If I had cash to fling about I'd probably try hard to get things. Things are always good. But I'm poor so everything I have means something.

You shouldn't talk to me. Find better company. There's better people to know. You'll only end up like Rimbaud. Get shot by Verlaine...Posted 3 years ago # -

I'm not sure that I'd spend much on music memorabilia unless it was a sure first investment like one of Jimi Hendrix's guitars.
Also, the sound quality of different pressings is the same so I think the cheaper one is just as good.
That's my 2cents!

The kids come first, but, provided they were taken care of, I think if there are enough good memories attached to something then go for it. Good memories are hard to come by. When you find something that brings them back strongly, it is a good investment no matter what it costs and no matter if the value ever increases. Just my thoughts.

It really depends on the money in my pocket, if i have $4 in my pocket, then i'll give $4, but if i have $100 in my pocket, then i'll probably give $100 depending on how suppah awesome it is..

suprisingly enough.

- RexxYeah I see what you mean - if you buy signed band stuff or whatever on ebay then it kind of loses its value. I'd never pay to meet a band - you pay to watch them play their music, aside from that they're just people.

I have memorabilia in storage in Hollywood.
I keep hearing from people, family included, that it can be like an investment.
But I don't see it like that.
Unless I had doubles on something, like whats the case with some of my vinyl (lp records,I would NOT sell it.It means too much to me.
It saddens me whenever I hear of fans selling part of their collections on Ebay to pay bills.
And.....thank you REXX for bringing up the whole "pay a thousand bucks to meet KISS".
To think...when I was younger and dumber I mighta fallen for that....
Just to cross paths with people who normally would not give me time of day.
Ooops now I'm sounding old and bitter.
Ignore that.*smirk*

I'm gonna have to go with what GlamRose said..If it was something Axl Rose wore I'd give everything I have without question!
Posted 3 years ago # -
BUT I'd give more to have something Slash wore, or to have Slash [; haha.

I love memorabilia but I am not going to lose a financial leg over it. The most I paid for something was a rare Budgie 3 Cd greatest hits with the banned Nude Woman Parachutist cover for like 180 bucks but that was when I was living with five other room mates and I barely had any bills. That might not make me much of a fan but I am a extremely cheap bastard. I used to improvise ways of getting into shows and concerts without paying, I was a expert at finding a back door, a break in a fence with wire cutters, paying a person to transfer a stamp on to my hand or finding a way to get over a wall or fence. I don't do that anymore because most of these guys deserve my money, other than that I may love my bands but I won't lose my shirt for them.

I'd pay for what ever Nikki asks for his glove that he wore with the pentagram and pyramid studs on it.
it puts the lotion on its skin or else it gets the hose againPosted 3 years ago # -
Just bought myself a new drum kit. So I'm skinned. But if I had lots of money, I'd buy something Nikki Sixx or Mick Mars wore on stage in the 80s.
