Ok,so ive been going back and forth about this for the last year now.its something ive been wanting to do,but im not so sure of it.ive heard that all the people over there want to come to the states, yet i wanna go over there, haha.its just that overseas is so rich in glam, and over here, its rare to find glam people.soooooo,my huge question is for any glam people overseas,if i decide to do it,could i stay with you for the time being??? would you be ok with that??? and if anyone thinks this is a horrible idea, tell me.i kno it would be expensive to do.i would have a total of like 6 or 7 thousand dollars(US Dollars) at the time when i would do it.not sure if thats enough tho

Hey Dash that's kinda funny because I would move to the states tomorrow if I had the $$$ but that is another story...
If you have no ties then I say go for it but I would suggest that you visit the new location first to check it out before you make any commitment. I'm sure there are plenty of girls on this site that would love to meet you and show you round and a good time
On a serious note, use the social side of GlamRock.com to ask questions - maybe send out a bulletin to all your friends... "Dash is lookin' for a new home!" or "Is there a glam scene where you live?" ...
If you drive then maybe you could locate known glam clubs or venues taking a road trip out of your local area (sleep in your car if you have to). Experiment finding glam in the USA before you try overseas then at least you dont get a giant $$$ bill to pay at the end of the experience.
I wish you the best of luck man.
Any questions just ask.

This reminds me of that guy from "Love actualy", who goes to America to find girl(s), 'cause girls love British accent. xD Anyway, I can't be helpful to u (though glam scene is fine in my city), since I'm 17 and living with my parents, but I'll just give u moral support and hope u'll be as lucky as the guy from the movie.
And, Retroman's right, u should check out the field first.
Very brave of u.Posted 1 year ago # -
Dash has it sorta right, If I had the means id leave the states myself. Dash they are not just going to allow you to move out there. You will need to prove you have skills to earn a living. Maybe if you are a doctor, dentist, auto mechanic, whatever so you wont be a sponge on the economy. Id go out there as long as theyd let you stay, find a girl and marry her , even if you dont love her, by marring her you will get residency. This will allow you to everything citizens are allowed to do, except get social services or vote. The immergrations people will want to see your bank history to determin if you are responsible with money and how much you have in the bank. You will be leaving the states so you cannot say its for political asylum. America wont kill you if you dont agree with its politics .... well not yet at least lol.
Id recomond you take a look at economy at where you want to move to. If its got mass unemployment or a depressed area, id choose to not even think about it. OR go out there ona tourist Visa and see for yourself what life would be like. A tourist Visa will allow you to stay for up to 90 days. You can renew it I think , check tho at whatever embassy or councilet of the country you choose to move to. These countries all have different cultures and they will be a totally different world then your used to. Theres more to it then just packing your shit and moving to a different country. Youll need to cut through mountains of buerocracy to get residency, its hard but not impossible.
It would help if you knew someone in whatever country you want to go to.
I cant tell you to or not to do it. Nobody can

The biggest problems are language and money.

Hmm, most european countries require kids to learn english in school when they are young.

I live in Finland and I can say that people speak english quite well here.We also have lots of places where you can work and you don´t have to speak finnish.Finnish is quite difficult language but I think you´ll learn to speak it if you want to.

Well, If you go you should go to sweden or something indeed.
I live in holland, it's nice to live here but there is NO glam scene at all. You can count the glam people on two hands. I tought the US was the best place for glamish people. Perhaps an other country in the US? It's a lot cheaper to move there haha.In europe they can speak english in almost all countries, especially the younger people.
There's always work to find, maybe it's not the best payed job in the world but you will get a living.I live with my parents so you can't stay at my place. If i had my own house you were welcome all the time. I like this sort of things, ones stayed in germany for 2 weeks at a cool guy i met at a festival haha.

Dash, if you are thinking of moving to Sweden then Gothenburg is the place to go. It is Sweden´s glam-capitol, and a centre for musicians and rockers from all over Sweden.
I myself are going there as soon as I'm 18.
But I agree with the rest, you really should come and take a look at the place before you decide. Gothenburg smells like fish.Posted 1 year ago # -
When it comes to the job thing, I don't think Sweden is a good place. A lot of swedish people moves to Norway to work here, because they can't get any jobs in Sweden. And the glam scene in Norway is pretty dead, at least most places.

Scandinavia is great for Death Metal! That's still a plus at least to me.

Stockholm or Gothenburg is the place to move if your coming to Sweden both cities got an ok glam scene. And you can always get a job as long as you take what ever you get(learning Swedish pretty quick is key i think).
The reason people from here go to work in Norway is because you make soooooo much more money there.
Or you can move to pite where i live so i would not be the only glam guy in town anymore
and as a bonus you are close to absolutely nothing
One thing you need to know if you are seriously thinking of moving here, living in Sweden is not cheap. I pay 28% income tax on what i earn and stuff that you buy are more expensive over here

wow,i forgot i made this thread, haha.since then, ive actually decided on moving to LA.moving across the ocean to another country would just be too hard to do and far too risky.but theres tons of talent in LA thats just waiting to be discovered.and theres history there too! i just think its a better overrall decision.

I live in finland also, and must agree that people here mostly speak very good english...although finland is a small country i think we have a great rock scene here, there's lots going on all the time, loads of great bands and gigs..and the distances are not too bad if you wanna go to another city for a gig or something. Tampere is probably the "rock city" here in finland, there's a really vivid scene there and lots going on also sub-culture wise...and of course Helsinki our capitol...
Finns are friendly people although they might be a bit shy first, but once you get to know them you notice they are great friends...and a bit crazy
