Okay i have some great friends, but am going to be honest i talk to them about bands i love and tbh they dont have a clue who i am talking about they are completely clueless, i mean i mentioned to someone that me and my brother were going to see Michael Monroe and they was like who?
so yeh i would love to meet some people whom were into the same bands as me, hopefully from the Leeds area?

also do any of you have this problem?
i mean the only person i know who likes glam is my brother and thats because i got him into it

I'm not near you haha, but I totally have the same problem! I only have one friend who I can talk to about Glam, and thats only Motley and Guns, plus other bands like Alice Cooper (Glam?) and Aussie pub rock bands. And even then, going to a different school than him now (both went to primary (elementary) school together but different high schools) So its only through online means.

This thread got me thinking about how I hooked up with my metal/rock/glam friends... you know, back in the days when you left the house to meet people :)

Well I can tell you that from the early 90s onwards, I found very few people that liked glam! Metal and rock fans were easy but glam was out of the mainstream by then...

I've lived in several areas of the UK so I've usually had the task of starting again friends wise. I don't know how I did it but I seemed to home in on the metalheads as if I had some built in radar device!!! I would find the main metal/rock pub/club in the town/city and hang out there (Work mates usually pointed me in the right direction for those venues).

Joining a band or DJing helped me get started. Pratice rooms and the local band scenes are great for hooking up with new people. Universities usually have a rock society so that is also worth joining if you are eligible...

I used google to research the rock scene in Leeds and also track down some of the old places I used to hang out, most of them have closed down :(

Here is a list of my favourite past venues:

    Jilly's Rockworld (Manchester)
    Quigley's Nightclub (Hull)
    The Festival House (Norwich)
    Zoom Nightclub (Norwich)
    The Sutherland Arms (Newcastle-Under-Lyme)
    The Stage Door (Stoke-On-Trent)
    Chico's Nightclub (Stoke-On-Trent)
    The Highwayman (Cheadle)
    Keele University (Keele)

Researching Leeds from the internet didn't provide me with much information on the rock/metal scene. The BASSMENT was mentioned and RIO's nightclub looked interesting but seems to have closed down. I'm sure you are not the only "glam" fan in the city... I would hope that there is a pub somewhere for the rockers hang out???

Just a reminder that the Social area of GlamRock.com gives members the ability to make friends, create/join groups and post messages on your profile/current status as well as the latest site activity stream.

    GOOD LUCK!

    Edit

Here is one more tip; attending glam/rock gigs at local venues (even if they are a tribute band) should give you the chance to meet new people within the Leeds area...

    For example;

70s rock/pop/glam tribute "After Dark" are playing @ New Roscoe 2/4/11.
AD/DC tribute band "Bon/DC" are playing @ New Roscoe 29/5/11.

Dates may be subject to change!

I think their is the Rock of Ages club night at the Leeds Uni Union on the 1st Sat every month. I always have meant to go but never have. I think they have a myspace page with loads of pictures

When I was younger it was Rock City at Nottingham, Limit Club, Wap n Take and Rebels at Sheffield, RnJ's and The Green Gingerman at Hull, Lazers at Sheffield
