Okay so the job fell on me to, for lack of better words, kick our rhythm player out of the band. I know its the right thing to do but I felt terrible doing it, and he's REALLY pissed off, and I see him everyday at school. Anyone else been in a similar situation? Not feelin to good about myself atm :?

For some context to your dilemma, what was the reasons behind it not working out with your rhythm guitarist?

Many reasons, he messed up parts he plays a million times, he made excuses not to be at practices, he killed the mood when he was there ( we have so much more fun when he doesn't show up) and he has told friends that he only practices rarely and doesn't want to better himself slot musically. and if we're not worth his time in personal practice, then yeah..

Then dude....you did the right thing and you got no reason to feel bad. You did the right thing.

So what if you see him at school? He's got the choice to remain as your friend or to cease being your friend. Let's say worst case scenario and he decides not to be friends, talk shit about you and act like a spoilt asshole.

Even if he behaves that way, so what? He would have proven to you and everyone else he was worthy of firing and deserved worse than he actually got.

I would think you just don't worry about him. Don't you go being an ass and just say hey, wassup man when you cross paths down the hall. Just be cool. You're in a band man.

He's already been talking shit about us thanks to the wonderful invention of facebook, "f*** em all, I put so much time into this (not true) blah blah" and he's one of those people that has a million people on his side..

    Rant over :P

Thanks heaps, gave me some much needed reassurance in our decision

I remember my band unanimously agreed to kick out our first drummer, who was terrible at drumming and wrote worse songs. So we just did it. He was mad for about a month, and then he got over it. We're a lot better off now, and it's all good. Also, kicking him out was hilarious, because kids in our school that aren't even in the band kept walking up to him and telling he was kicked out.

Your band is a business. Anybody that gets warned they aren't doing good at their job , after enough chances will get canned. Your rythm player screwed up bad enough to get himself fired from the band. It was a business move. It was in the bands best intrest to can him. He's pissed because like any employee at any business, nobody likes getting the axe. Lucky you, you had to do the dirty work.
