I play bass and I recently acquired an effects pedal for it and am getting a wah pedal very soon. What do you guys think about bassists who use effects? Personally I think its a great way to show what bass can do and it is so cool to make it sound like a guitar (like Cliff Burton). I am not about using effects all the time, but I personally want to use effects in my band for solos. I want to try and bring back the whole bass solo thing using distortion, wah and some other effects. Obviously I can't play like Cliff Burton, but I want to try and revive what seems to have died with him. A lot of people do not realize the importance of bass and automatically assume guitar is more important. I don't want to steal the show from the guitarist of course, I just want to show what bass can do. What is your opinion on this kind of thing?

Cool man, well I also play bass as well.Main essentials, not using much is the way to go,its about your fingers, you only need an effect to amplifi it.An overdrive pedal!,not a distortion, notes will become mushy.I use a tuner overdrive and chorus pedal live with my bass rig.For soloing Overdrive compact pedal from boss!
