Question about teasing hair

I just have a quick question about teasing your hair.

How long does your hair normally have to be for it to look good teased? I'm assuming it has to be about 6-9 inches long.

I might cut it a little so that it's about 8-10 inches long. I think my hair (especially on the top of my head) is too long to tease.

I think it looks good How ya Got it! But Mine tease is about 5 inches and I can makee it 10 inches long when i do mine... Its all in the Style you like it in

How? Come by some time and show me because, every time I tease my hair I end up getting nots in it that are the size of my fist!

I don't have layers cut into my hair except for,I have bangs....I can still make my hair stand up pretty damn high before it cascades down like a fountain.

I use a hairbrush not a comb to tease it.

I just discovered this new 'punp' hairspray,I got it for just a dollar but only on a special sale..its by Joico and its called "ICE" Ice Fixer" Firm Hold.

I have a small bottle that fits in my purse.

When I went to NYC Thursday for the 9/11 memorials I teased up my hair in Port Authority that morning, and it stayed huge all day.

And it remained huge until 2 days ago when I brushed it out.Its still full of body.

I really want to grow my hair long and tease it but my hair's so incredibly thick that it's just such a pain to maintain that I always end up chopping it all off. At the moment it's about shoulder-length and I always have to wear it in pigtails, otherwise it'd just do its own thing and flick up at the end like some kind of 60s housewife.
It's a bad length right now. I can't really do much with it but I'm gonna have to be patient and wait for it to grow long enough to glam it up. It's just so annoying 'cause I'm used to having short hair. I miss my spiky head of doom... but I want long hair... I'm gonna have to get it layered soon, this thickness is just killing me.

You will be grateful you have thick hair.

Mine is thick,its naturally wavy.

It being thick means,when you do have it the length you want,you can go ahead and put styling products,or you can dye it if you want,or you can heat process it (crimp or straighten or curl) and,your thick hair will not break off or damage so easily.

Its truly a blessing...

That's true... but it's such a hassle 'cause it's very curly and very thick it takes so long to straighten and all that. But I guess it's worth it.

mines the same, thick and curly. However! You would never guess it, I get it thinned when it gets too thick then its easy to straighten. I also use a shit load of conditioner so its easier to straighten. After that it backcombs a beast. I can get my hair pretty high...

Got my hair layered today Though she took off quite a bit of length, I can't get it into a ponytail anymore. But at least it's all nice and light now. Also my bangs are pretty damn annoying but I'll get used to 'em.
Maybe later on tonight if I'm in the mood I'll get my products and equipment out and make it Peter Criss style. Though it's a bit shorter than his, it's the right cut.

i found use gel first on the roots and blow dry, then use hairspray and back comb. Shockwaves worked best, and it's what all my punk mates used for their mowhawks!

teasing is all about the product you put in it, hair spray is the best but you have to get lacquer not the flexi hold. and a hair brust is better than a comb too.

I think its better do tease hair with a comb. Because hair brushes are so big, but with a comb, you can tease it from the roots.

If I really had to I could use a plastic fork or even my bare hand to tease up my hair.

I used to use a rattail comb,back in beauty school days.But I pretty much just use my hair brush.I am sure to emphasise the root area.

One caveat:If you use a hairbrush,do NOT pick the brushes with the little balls on the ends of the...whatever the filaments are called.

Those balls will just rip the hair out.I wouldn't use that kind of brush to brush OUT the teasing,for the same reason.

Your hair looks great in that picture.
I have the same problem (except i'm a dude). I cut my hair a month before Download (big mistake as i saw Kiss and other amazing bands and i wanted to just go mental with my old hair).
Yeah, back to the point. If your hair is like mine, it will start off like a 60s housewife (I said exactly the same thing) but grow it and it will turn out a bit curly at the bottom (see the picture below). If you do, don't straighten it, it will end up like the 60s housewife look.

well mine finally got long enought where I can tease it right but my problem is that I end up looking like the singer from Wrathchild. if I wear it down I end up looking like a weird imatation of Dave Lepard from Cashdiet. I have tried useing aqua net but It's a pain in the ass to get out for me because I end up useing too much. So what do y'all think i should do because i want it to look like Vinie vincent's in his early days.
