I got to thinking that makeup is a big part of Glam......

So, ladies, and gents, which do you prefer?

Foundation or not? Powder, liquid or both?

Eye shadows: cream, pencils or powders?

    Liners: liquid or pencil?

Blush? Or prefer not to use?

Guys, how'd you learn to put it on? Watching your mom, sister or girlfriend at the time?

Ladies, what are the essentials you *MUST* have in your kit?

    :)

    Foundations: cream with powder overlay.
Eyeshadow: mostly powder but I use liquid occasionally
    Liners: soft pencils
Blush: powder - but I'm thinking of using liquid blush. I think powder scatters too much.

    Essentials: eyeliner and lip gloss

Foundation:I don't usually use foundation these days(although I really should), just out of laziness, but when I do, it's L'Oreal Feel Naturale Soft Ivory. It's somewhere between a liquid and a powder, but more on the powder side, so it saves time(there's the laziness again). It's about even with my natural skintone, but it's a shade paler, so if I do a crappy job, I look like I'm in clown white.
I used to spend half an hour just doing foundation and powder, then another half on everything else. It's a pain in the ass when you live this far away from everything because you(well...I..) end up getting to clubs at midnight, and then they close at 2.
Eyeliner: Usually Wet & Wild pencils...because I'm cheap. I used to have a really great Maybelline pencil, but I used it all up. It's been years since I've used a liquid, because I didn't like the feel of it, but I'm open minded.
Shadow: usually this nice purple MAC powder I have, but I also have some cheap burgundy and grey shadows I have...I think they're Cover Girl or Wet & Wild.
Lipstick: MAC Viva Glam, pretty much always. I have several sticks of Tabu Kyoto Red, which I used exclusively in the 80s, so I bought several sticks when I heard Tabu was discontinuing their lipsticks in 99 or 2000...but honestly, I've gotten so attached to Viva Glam that I haven't worn them out of the house this century. I also have some glittery Manic Panic stuff, but it's not very comfortable to apply, and it's about 10 years old, so I should probably actually throw it away.

When I'm lucky, I look this crappy at 5AM:
...after several days at a 5 day Goth convention.

I use, concealer (around the eyes) then foundation (liquid) then transparent powder everywhere, then pencil eyeliner, mascara, and blush....generally don't use shadow, or if i do, use it where i would normally put eyeliner, now if i'm glammin' it up....WAY more...

Foundations: Don't really use them except this ivory-white one for when I'm getting all Robert-Smith'd up. I have a pale complexion anyway, mainly because I stay out of the sun and that I'm anaemic. Sometimes I use a powder if I have any skin discolourations like baggy eyes due to my insomnia -.-
Eyeshadow: Mostly powder, sometimes liquid, sometimes pencils.
Liners: Always pencils, I've never used liquid. I heard it's good, though.
    Blush: Never use it :D
Essentials: I NEVER even so much as step outside without my eyeliner on. I look dead without it. Most of the time (like at school, where we have strict rules) it's the only makeup I wear. Actually, funny I should mention school rules, as eyeliner is totally not allowed. But I get away with it most of the time :D
Ooh, I also love my black lipstick. I usually don't have to wear lipstick and such, as my lips are perfect and pouty already :D I just love the different colours/shades.

I can't use liquid eyeliner. Just can't, my hand will start quivering and there it'll be...everywhere but lining my eyes :-P

I recently bought some cream blusher. It's better than powder. You put on the powder blush and it seems to fade away slowly, but surely. That's very annoying. If I am not wearing blush my face looks like an eggshell with eyeballs.

Your lips can not be too red or too shiny. I was thinking about black lipstick...but my sister will make a wisecrack about the mortician being color blind! My sister is 44 years old an an amateur comedian. Not a very good one either, but I love her!

I've never used foundation, can't be arsed having to wipe it off every day, I'm too lazy for that!

If I wear any make up at all, it's usually just black eyeliner pencil. I think the one I normally use is a natural one from boots for sensitive skin.

If I'm feeling adventurous I'll go for what I call the "Tommy Lee look" which is eyeliner, red lipstick, and ridiculous amounts of rouge pretty much from my ears all the way down my cheekbones. Lol!

Some times if I'm going to a concert I'll do something special, like when I saw Alice Cooper I did Alice-style eye makeup.

For foundation I use Max Factors 3 in 1 powder...a concealler, powder and foundation in one product...fast and easy to use.

Then I am an addict to black eye shadow so that I can really make those cat eyes :)

And then off course my beloved violet lip color pencil and super lash mascare.

Other wise I just use any blusher in a sandy/bronze shade, black liquid eyeliner, and black eye pencil at a good quality to a resonable prize that I can get hold of.

When going out apart from the normal routine...I then do my cat eyes and then add glitter eye gel and glitter mascare to my normal eye make up. And for my lips I draw an outline with my black eye pencil and then add my violet lip color...it makes my lips look all nice and full.

For everyday use just a bit of powder/foundation/concealler on my eyes, a bit with the black eye pencil, a bit of blusher, mascare and a ruby red lip gloss and I am done makeup wise.

My kit is pretty simple...I can get from drab to an acceptable glam in 20 minutes.
A quality black eyeliner pencil is paramount. I use it for subtle shadows as well as its intended use. Usually, time permitting, I'll pencil in two or three coats of underscore eyeliner...I like it really thick and dark, to the point of dulling the tip a bit. Then, I drag the pencil across the underside of the lid, so that all fleshtone is covered when I relax my eyes.
I have 3 little eye shadow pots that I pick from to dip my fingertip in and rob a streak directly under my brows, downstroked.
A bit of rouge if available...
I discovered this cover-up shit of my girlfriends that nicely veils the sleep debt I carry under my eyes.
And, essential to my look is red, red lipstick. The "fuck me red" kind. I'll carry it on me usually when I go out. I coat that with a layer of bubblegum lip gloss...

I never apply make-up the same way twice. Every glam down is a singular experience...there are always variations to the above depending on availability and time.

I'm naturally pretty pale, and finding foundation is hell haha so powder has to go over the top to tone down the colour, nothing worse than looking a little orange! Pencil liner, and maybe glitter some days. Eye shaddow, not fussed what it is as long as the colours right, usually powder shaddow cause there are more colour variations, maybe a mix of two or more blendng, or in stripes white eyeshaddow is perfect for bringing out the colours too makes everything brighter! usually have blusher on, but a rosey colour if my lips are dark and a darker tone if they're lighter.
i cant do without eyeliner and mascara, and something for the lips, normally gloss in my pocket or something for if its needed.

I'm learnigng to be a make-up artist so i love tryin out new things on me or other people...who are willing.

For gigs, I do the full routine - foundation, powder, eye liner, eye shadow (3 shades), mascara, lipstick, rouge. The foundation I use is Max Factor pan cake. It tends to go the distance onstage under lights during stinking hot Australian summers.

Usually when I go out to public events (like parties or other bands gigs) I put on a light layer of foundation and eye liner only.

First off,I ALWAYS wear an SPF (sunblock), even in winter. It sucks trying to find something that isn't greasy, but I love Avon's ANEW All-in one-MAX SPF 15 for oily skin, its a greaseless lotion that also has alpha hydroxy acid for exfoliation! In more sunlight I might wear Clinique City Block spf 40,or a heavier sunblock (higher SPF number).

I like eye creams,if I don't wear any other moisturiser. Some also have built in "bag reduction"....also one can use a bit of Preperation H under the eyes.Does the same thing and many actors do that.

I like my foundation to be pretty opaque, although I have quite a variety of formulas.Sometimes I use a foundation with salicylic acid in it if my skin's not great.I also like stick type foundations that double as concealer and that dry to a powdery finish.Just so long as I remember not to apply TOO thick under the eye.No use creating wrinkles that don't even exist.

After I apply foundation sometimes I put a bit of powder under my eyes, so that when I apply eye shadow it does not sprinkle under my eyes.Or I fold a tissue to use as a shield.I prefer vivid colours.

I find that dying my eyebrows does not last long, so often I use purple lip or eye pencil to go over my brows so they match my hair.i have also used a liquid lip colour from Revlon called Colorstay, the shade is black cherry. But I keep a range of purple-to-fuchsia pencils or even lipsticks for my eyebrows.(Hair dye just tends to smear in my foundation if thats all I use to dye my brows).

I like liquid eyeliner the best. Its hard finding truly waterproof formulas. My eyes tend to water in the slightest wind,or if I'm in a club where they flagrantly ignore the vsmoking ban (grrrrrr don't get me started on THAT one!lol).

I like both regular AND waterproof mascaras. One fave mascara is "Astonishing Lengths" by Avon.It really makes something of my lashes.Any oil will remove waterproof formulas.

I will use almost any brand of lipstick.Sometimes cheapest is best. But its great if it tastes good.I really try for good tasting lipcolours when I'm clubbing for obvious reasons. Now they make flavored lipglosses.Too bad a gloss will shorten the wear of lipstick.I never leave the house without all the makeup I put on in case I need to do a touch-up.

Sometimes I also will top off lipstick with a chocolate or vanilla lip balm.Yum!(I always keep flavored lip balms in my *booty bag*!)

Some really AWESOME flavored glosses are by "mark" (made by Avon).I recommend the mark Shine Tubes in "Sugar Almond", "Cream Caramel" and i forget what else. The Avon ColorTrend "chocolate drop" lip glosses are great too, nice colors and great flavor.

I wear a few blushers,in a color that's the same "season" as my lipstick.Mostly powders, but recently I bought a few mousse blushes.

I NEVER go out without painting up.One never knows who is watching. Its best to be prepared and not be caught slumming!

    Nice to know........

Leathur, I never go without sun screen, either.

I mix my foundation with mositurizer, use concealer when I have to, then brush on Physician's Choice powder, just to glow things out. Cannot live without mascara..... and I only use Cover Girl, or I start itching.

I never use liquid liner, prefer pencil......... and know how to do what I want to with it. Liquid doesn't always co-operate.

Powder eyeshadows in shades of black/grey/white (my faves) or 3 champange shades, or tans and browns. I look like crap in blue with my blue eyes, even though I have a bright blue and a bright silver eye pencil.

Lipstick isn't something I really like, and stick to rose or wines. I have black, but rarely use it. I have a maroon to die for, too....... rarely use it.

My *MUSTS* in my kit are usually simple. I go nowheres without mascara and blush. I'm pale, so I tend to highlight my skin tone, not over-power it. If I feel naughty, I use blue mascara.......

Oh I just thought of something else.IF you're ever at a wake or funeral and you know you'll be crying a lot....heres what I did after George Harrison died....I layered waterproof liquid eyeliner under a black pencil liner. They had photographers snapping away like mad,(at the Beatles star in Hollywood) but the makeup stayed put.

And I don't recommend the so-called "semipermanent" mascara. One is by Revlon Colorstay. It coated my lashes but it was WAAY too uncomfortable to sleep in....and removing even with vegetable oil, even with cold cream, was damned near impossible.

I'll sleep in my makeup if I've got "company",but normally I'd rather do a good washing and use an eye cream or alphahydroxy night cream, depending on how my skin is doing.

I tend to like Lancome foundation. It has good coverage, but is not too heavy. My most important items are foundation, mascara, blush and lipstick. My make up has gotten lighter over the years.

I like solid coverage on my face and there's this bronzer called so-cal glow that I use for blush and a bronzer when needed. Mascara, I'm not fond of waterproof. It makes me pull on my eyelashes a bit. And lipstick, I like a matte that is sparkly and kind of light in color or pinkish. Not into red ANYMORE or just gloss. As far as eyeshadow, kind of neutral on that, and don't wear it often. When I'm going to a show or dressing glam, Mac has some great vibrant colors.

I started using bronzer. One day my daughter asked me "Mom, do you realize you look like an oompa-loompa?" I never had such a laugh. I don't use bronzer anymore....I don't think the "oompa-loompa" look does it for me. I guess I don't have the skin tone for a bronzer. So cream foundation (dream matte mousse by maybelline) and a brushed powder (Coty) is my base. Then I use liquid and powder shadows (greens, greys and purples) and eye pencil for the liner. I use Avon's eyeliners (green, brown or black). They work best for me. I have cream blush (dream matte mousse). Powder blush never stays put and is gone from my face in a few hours after I apply it.

I just bought this Cover Girl eye liner. It's a felt tip and it works so nice. It comes out nice and dark and doesn't smudge. I just it on at 6 am, and it's 2:00 am now, and it's still on and looks good.

Right now, I just wear that eye liner and mascara. I curl my eye lashes. The mascara I use is cheap, I'm pretty sure. It's a silver tube and it's called Lsh In a Tube. It works really good, though.
And I use Cover Girl powder cover up when I break out.
