Long Nails

Well, I have long nails for a guy. They aint long by my standards, but I have a girls standards, usually, hahaha! So my nails are longer than most guys'.

One problem I get all the time is dirt. I get these little black trimmings under my nails and its disgusting. I can start off a day with freshly cleaned nails and within a few hours they're clogged black. I dont get it...

So, girls, what do you do to keep 'em clean?

as a guitarist i need longens fer me finger pickin stuff, if they get dirty i usually use a pick to pick all the stuff out. you could allways paint your nails so nobody could see any dirt

Hah, I'm a guitarist as well!
I aint a finger picker though, actually whatever way my frets are, I get pissed off with my long nails sometimes for getting in the way, haha.

But uh, yeah, I do pick it out. Cocktail sticks, straws and stuff. But I cant always do that, and it still looks horrible when your doing it, hahaha. I mean, that aint stylish.

I do it with a pen sometimes, and thats stupid, 'cause you cant notice the difference by the end of it, LOL.

My girlfriend suggests using a nail brush, soap and hot water. That should keep them clean Jack!

Also an orange wood stick helps really get the gunk out, I had really long dragon lady nails for awhile (used to keep em' painted cherry red) and that's what I'd do.

My nails don't grow so I wear fake ones, but I know about the black dirt under 'em. I just sit there and pick it all out, its kinda therapeutic

I got a nail brush I'm teething on it at the moment, actually. Bloody toothache, LOL.

Heh. It seems you all just have to pick it out like me.
I'll have to work on a stylish, discreet way of doing that in school

I'm an epic fail when it comes to growing nails. I'm a nail nibbler therefore my nails are really short and stumpy. It makes my fingers look short too, which they don't need any help in doing, and I can't paint them!! All in all, it's annoying, but it's a habit I can't break.

I bite my thumbnails, lol. I bite the nails on my thumbs and then pull them up and bite the soft skin underneath, and it rips open and scars, haha. Hurts like hell. I think its a worse habit than biting your nails but at least my finger nails can grow!

They're all cracked now, though.. I reckon I should get strengthener, or something.

I have pretty long nails, but I dont have a problem with dirt under them. Thats is pretty wierd, since I am a lot with horses and stuff xD But maybe I just dont see it because they are always painted red.

But when it is a topic about nails here. Does anyone know what can be the reason that my nails are yellow? :/ I always paint them red, but sometimes I take it off to do it again, or I take it off to go some days without. But they look really yellow, people always ask me if I smoke, since it looks like that, but I dont. So does anyone know what it is? It doesnt bother me since I usually paint them, but it is really ugly when I dont xD

Sometimes the gunk I get under my nails is yellow...
Maybe its that, you just havent realised?

I dont know where that stuff comes from like.

Lucky at not getting the black stuff mind you, lol.

No, its the nails that gets yellow. Its just where the white starts. xD It can be because I use so much nail polish and nail polish remover, but that is strange. Nails arent supposed to get yellow from that xD

Maybe you just have naturally yellow tough bits? Do you have naturally yellowing teeth? It just means stronger than normal teeth and Nails, seemingly...

It's from where the nail varnish is staining your nails. You need to put a clear base on before you put a dark colour on otherwise your nails will be stained by the darker colour.

oh man, i think long nails are gnarly. anything that goes over just the edge of the fingers that can get dirt and shit stuck under there grosses me out.
