Ok, right i'll admit it, i'm at the poser stage.

I've recently been introduced to a lot of Glam/Cock-rock, & tbh, i love it.

So other than my recent 6 month Motley affair ( ), any other reccomendations to get me going? :D
    I'm pretty open to anything...

    Thanks.

Along with Motley and G N' R, the bands I first started listening to when I got into the 80s hard rock scene were Ratt, Dokken and Faster Pussycat, followed by Great White, Hanoi Rocks, Baton Rouge, Black N Blue, Tigertailz, Warrant, Winger, Lillian Axe, W.A.S.P., Scorpions, White Lion, Kix, Loudness, Wildside, EZO, Killer Dwarfs, Dangerous Toys, Jackyl, Tuff, Tesla... ah but that's just the tip of the iceberg. There's so many, and I can never remember half of them... and as you'll find, you can never get to the end of them! Hopefully that's a starting point for you though. (moderater edit). Rock on! 8)

Then again i was the same with Motley, i'll check again.

People are gonna be spewing opinions here, but:
the movie called "Blues Brothers 2000" (not the first Blues Brothers) has some amazing music in it. You might want to watch that....especially the huge jam session at the end.

I like Grease, I was almost cast in a play when I was a teenager, but I wasn;t a great singer. But I never saw the Sound Of Music. I guess it's about time....everyone in the world is going ^omg^

    Thats actually amazing!
    Grease is just legendary!

& the Sound Of Music is just amazing, i always thought it would be terrible (and in some parts it is) but it's actually really good. So i was pretty shocked at that.

    Chicargo's good also.

You HAVE to give the New York Dolls another chance. They absolutely rock. Johnny Thunders is soooo cool. Believe me, the more you listen to them, the more you'll love them.

Also, listen to Sweet. Incredible glam band. Also, Cinderella, Def Leppard, and Skid Row's first album.

Here are some of my favourite bands and songs(with vids),which tend to be more on the Glam side than the Cock Rock side, but I'll mix it up a bit and I'll also include some Glam Punk and Glammy Goth:

    T. Rex

    David Bowie

    Roxy Music

    Iggy Pop

Mott the Hoople (All The Young Dudes)

Wayne(now Jayne) County(covering the Barbarians' "Are You A Boy Or Are You A Girl?")

    The Glitter Band(Non-Garyated)

    Cinderella(Universal Music has blocked embedding)
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mdWh9IT_oZk

    Gene Loves Jezebel

Imperial Drag("Are You A Boy Or a Girl?"...no relation to the Wayne County song above with a similar title)

Alice Cooper(The Black Widow- a bit of a long video, but with Vincent Price!)

KISS God Of Thunder(...no real video here, but one of my faves for the past 30 years)

    New York Dolls (Personality Crisis)

    Specimen

    Bauhaus(Covering T. Rex's Telegram Sam)

...and here I'll quit before my post starts looking like a video dictionary..

Try and get a good solid base, get yourself a few Rolling Stones records (or just invest in "40 licks" as a starter)

Try and get a couple of Led Zeppelins albums if possible, maybe a little ACDC.. get a decent feel for classic rock first.

Definately pick up "Too Much Too Soon" from the New York Dolls, "Rocks" and "Toys In The Attic" from Aerosmith.

From there, the thing I've found that works is this..

Find a band like Poison for example, read up on them at Wikipedia, check which albums charted well and buy a couple. See the bands they went on tour with, read about them, see which albums did well, etc etc.

It's weird but the linking system works well and it'll tell you "after that they made a move to industrial music and the singer became a goth" *cough Jani Lane cough*

Oh, get Too Fast For Love by Motley Crue by the way. I know you're already into them. If you've already got it get it again, that album is probably the best 80's rock album that came out, aside from Appetite.

    Warrant went Industrial?
Wow, that sounds hilarious...where can I hear some of that?

    "She's my rivet pie..."

Of course, the Glam/Goth connection actually goes back to the 70s though.

Not *so* much Alice, although certain songs are a bit gothy, like Black Juju, and he certainly left an impression on Alien Sex Fiend.
But I mean things like Bolan touring with The Damned, Bauhaus(whose final album was released today), the Roxy Music influence on The Banshees, and the music of most the early Goth bands, which was basically a blend of Glam and Punk.
