I hate how kids think they are hot shit cause they can play a piece of plastic. Fuck guitar hero. I also don't care for the people saying their obsessed with Kiss or Motley b/c they heard a song from Guitar Hero and when its the only one they know. Maybe I'm overreacting, but its kinda insulting, the bands they are just pretending to like...are the bands I love and know so much about....

personally, i like guitar hero because it entertains me, especially this summer time. but this doesn't mean I don't agree with you. a lot of people in my school are like "I'm a |<icK A$Z FuCK3N M3+@L H3@D!!! I c@n pl@Y 'barK at T3h m00n' on E><p3r+$!!!" (no shit... that's really how some computer dorks in my school type...) It fucken pisses me off, but it doesn't mean it's a bad game. I know damn well that I suck at the guitar, but I'm pretty good at guitar hero

Too right - why not just get a real guitar and learn to play that? You can get a guitar and amp for peanuts on ebay.
The other day I went into a music lesson at my school to get some keys off the teacher (It was last day of term and the kids were younger than me) and they were playing guitar hero, the song was Shout At The Devil - and I thought, I bet none of these kids even knows who the Crue are.

I think the complete opposite actually. How many younger kids are now getting into Crue or Ozzy or Ratt because of Guitar Hero? Prime example, my 11 year old son loves Ratt because of Round & Round he heard on Guitar Hero. Also, saying "why not get a real guitar and learn to play that?" well I like playing Wii Tennis but I'm not about to go to a sporting goods store and buy a racket because I would look like a tennis poser otherwise.
I think Guitar Hero is fun as shit, it turns kids on to rock music (in a world littered with horrific rap music is a good thing) and it gives people a hobby centered around music which is always a good thing too. So, thats my 2 cents.

as I see it, it's kinda like pong (the old game with 2 white bars and a ball)... if you're the best at pong, does it mean you can play table tennis as good as Forrest Gump?(that's a joke, btw.) but seriously, though, video games are meant for fun, and not to be taken seriously

True - but I have a lot of friends who love playing Guitar Hero but it doesn't get them into any of the bands on there.

Well, I am ready, because I know this is going to be unpopular. . . . Guitar Hero is a mixed blessing, with some kidz it sparkz a genuine interest, however; it seemz to me that mostly it creates a lot of little punk ass bratz who think that they lived everything in the 80z because they can play a fucking video game. No offense meant to anyone, but my daughter does her school work to glam. She really thinkz that shez livin it. most of the people im around who play guitar hero either a. have too much time on their hands ( one can play a song with his feet) or b. do it because everybody and their brother knows about gh. i play guitar hero cause its entertaining but thats not how i got into glam. at least it doesnt teach them to hate rock of any kind. rock band is the same deal.

Yeah I really can't stand the guitar hero thing because all the preps at my school play it and they think they're tough shit because they can play a damn video game on expert. It makes true metal heads such as myself look like a total dumb ass because I've been listening to the bands that are on there like Skid Row and Faster Pussycat since I learned to fucking talk and these guys say that I'm not true metal because I can't even play the game on easy,well I say fuck them!

I like guitar hero a lot. I have, like, all of them, lol. I don't know about where you guys live, but since #2 came out it's become a social activity here. When people hang out they tend to bring out guitar hero or rock band and we play that. We don't think we're hot shit because of it, we just enjoy playing it. I have friends who are ridiculously good at it and others who are terrible at it and we all play together because we really don't give a shit, we just want to listen to good music and have fun. Plus, even though it's dorky as fuck, it's really cool to play my favorite songs on there. I really haven't met many people who think playing it well makes them cool.
I also like it because it introduces people to some really good music, and I've burned more than a few cds for people because they hear a track they like on it and want to hear more material by the band. I actually got into Faster Pussycat after hearing "Bathroom Wall" on Rock the 80's. Now I'm constantly listening to their self-titled. I really don't think there's any shame in getting into a band because you heard a track by them on guitar hero. It's not like we're in the 80's anymore, these songs aren't in heavy rotation anywhere and you can't really expect people to look up all the bands that existed before they were even born.

well, the past few months, i actually got bored with guitar hero since I'm learning to play a real one. people said it was "all that," and being a video-game dork, I just thought I HAD to buy it. I spent $250 (not included tax ) on all my guitar hero stuff, and I gotta say it wasn't worth my money. I should've just gotten a real guitar and not have to be stuck with two wireless plastic guitars with 6 frets and 1 bar for a string or a cheap-ass electric guitar knock off (which I bought for 60 bucks) that i'm learning to play right now.

I think Guitar Hero rocks...but that's just me. Most things music related I like. Before I got GH3 I had only heard of Poison, after I got GH3 and playing Talk Dirty to Me, Poison is one of my favorite bands. I'm not just saying I like it because I can play most of the game on Expert...but since I'm like obsessed with guitars I love it. In fact...I've taught myself Hammer-Ons & Pull-Offs just from learning about them on GH3, so really...its kinda helped me out on my real guitar.

My brother got guitar hero last christmas and I personally find it fun to play although I don't play it much anymore. I plan to learn a real instrument soon, but GH is just a way to spend a few hours really.

Ever see the episode of South Park lampooning "Guitar Hero" called "Guitar Queero"? LOL. That episode sums up my opinion of the game pretty much. I have heard kids get interested in picking up a guitar after playing the game but so far I have seen no evidence of that, and I have also heard it said that it gets a new generation into the bands we like. I know one girl that I work with told me she wanted to hear Motley Crue and Aerosmith after playing that game, so I let her borrow some CD's. She was a rap chick but she was blown away by what I let her borrow. She went out and bought "Shout At the Devil" and "Toys in the Attic". I told her there is so many more bands, now that is a good thing but I think a rare happening. This is my opinion though, Guitar Hero is lame, and like the rest of you I can't tell you how many kids I have talked to about a band but they know only one song from the band and it was in "Guitar Hero". Get off your ass, pick up a guitar. Playing a plastic piece of crap and having your brain turned to mush by flashing, epileptic colors and scoring points or whatever the fuck it is you get in that game isn't learning a skill or stimulating your brain. Sorry to all you people who like "Guitar Hero" but that is my opinion again by your standards I am probably old, the last gaming system I played was Super Nintendo.
