At the risk of getting flame broiled on here, I am absolutely loving Steven Tyler on American Idol. The shows producers should have bought in a real rock star years ago instead of industry executives such as that pompous rim licker Simon Cowell who to me epitomizes everything that is wrong with music for the last 18 years.

The show could be called by any name you want but it's FUN to watch. I don't know for sure but it seems to me the contestants are rocking their performances up to impress Tyler.

Lookit, I hate manufactured music as much as the next guy and I absolutely hate the reality TV process. Now and with a real life rock celebrity, it's taking on a whole new meaning.

    Over to you wise people....

I've watched some of the new "Idol" shows (during commercial breaks from the other shows I really watch). I agree that Tyler is doing a good job. But, hey... It's fucking Steven Tyler, what else do we expect? The man is awesome!

But, as I watch him sitting there listening to these hopefuls audition... I can't help but feel sad, thinking about all the things he and Aerosmith could have done together. The "American Idol" season (from the auditions to awarding the winner) takes months! That's months of rocking that Tyler has robbed from his fan base. US!

And as the auditioners sing, Tyler joins in from time to time... as if he's yearning to grab the microphone himself. I caught one segment where Tyler sang along with a girl who was performing "Don't Want To Miss A Thing" from the judge's table. He sounded great! He should've been up there and she should've been listening and learning!

Tyler and the rest of Aerosmith aren't getting any younger, they're close to becoming senior citizens! There's no time to waste! I really hope Tyler gets back on the rock stage full time and leaves his judge's seat to someone like P. Diddy, whose 'musical abilities' won't be missed in his absence.

As far as the reality TV process goes... It ain't all bad. I watched "Rockstar: INXS" & "Rockstar: Supernova" and "Rock n Roll Fantasy Camp" on VH1 Classic. They were similarly formatted shows and each one was great. Like everything else, there's good and bad.

Yeah I'm watching it because of him, well him and the first real rocker that looks like they have a shot. Steven even said he'd sing with him :P
