    **Rant**

    It wasn't the bands that ruined glam for me but the other metal headz that took to piss out of it sarcastically referring to it as "Cock Rock" - WHICH I HATE!!!!

    Back in the 80s, Skid Row, Motley Crue and most of the bands on this site were 'Metal' and they still are today.

    Listen to Bryan Adams and then play "Hold Your Fire" by Firehouse and tell me which song has the metal riffs...?

    Here are some examples of the main genres of music:

    Cascada = Dance
    Kylie = Pop
    U2 = Rock
    Oasis = Indie
    Faith No More = Alternative
    Cinderella = Metal

    'Heavy Metal' is a sub genre of 'Rock', here are some examples for those of you who get confused...

    Black Sabbath = Heavy Metal
    Iron Maiden = NWBHM
    Slayer = Thrash Metal
    Helloween = Power Metal
    Slipknot = Nu Metal
    Iron Monkey = Sludge Metal
    Fear Factory = Industrial Metal
    Dimmu Borgir = Black Metal
    Anathema = Doom Metal
    Type O Negative = Gothic Metal
    Nile = Death Metal
    Electric Boys = Funk Metal
    Motley Crue = Glam Metal

    **Rant over**

    BTW, I thought that the Timotei Twins sucked :)

    Nothing ruined it for me . but in reality, All of New Jersey except for Skid Row. Bon Jovi and Trixter just skrewed everyone over and also Nelson. Also, once some bands got lazy and dressed in a less extreme image (trixter, no make up or flashy clothes or leather) that might have made for the whole package to seem watered down, a major aspect of glam is the full package music, image, show everything

    those bands aren't bad they are just wussy. THe only clinicly bad glam bands ive heard are London (no wonder Slash, Izzy, Nikki, Blackie and Fredy all were in the band and left)and Diamond Rexx. and they even arn't so much bad, just run of the mill and mediocre to a point of near nothingness

    I've gotta admit that we took the piss out of Trixter at the time. Glam in the 80s and early 90s covered many styles of fashion and acceptability. I think Skid Row were clever as they managed to blend in with there ruff 'n' ready leather look. I would say it looked halfway between 'Thrash' and 'Glam'. I prefered that over the full on Tigertailz approach. I loved Motley Crue's bad boy image.

    Anyway, most music scenes have the pioneers, mainstream and wannabes otherwise we would just have a bunch of clones plus it gives the genre exposure to the newbees.

    I remember starting at the bottom and working my way up. I discovered glam by listening to the UK Top40 chart - No internet back in the 80s, and we only had four TV channels :(

    It's hard to dress like Tigertailz all the time but Skid Row's style is straight out of bed and that's great when you're on the road most of the time...

    No band ruined it for me folks - We all filtered out what we thought was crap, Our lass hated Winger, White Lion and Bon Jovi but loved Skid Row, L.A. Guns and Motley Crew. She still has the same opinion now (2009).

    I cant think of any, you know. I mean, I dont really dig Bon Jovi, but I still like some of their stuff, you know? I can even play 'You Give Love a Bad Name.'

    I dont know why people hate Cinderella so much. I love 'em. And I love Whitesnake, too, like hell. Me and my friend always play 'em when we jam. They were my first rock band, first Glam band, first band to get me into HAIR, and the reason I'm now in a band -- I practically lost my virginity to them!

    And Vixen. Although I can sympathise with why they're disliked. Still disagree though, I'm just sympathetic, lol!

    I havent listened to Nelson or Warrant, haha, but by the common agreement against them I guess I dont want to. And you know, I'm not really so big on Skid Row.
