The Van Halen 1 album spike listed is a great choice of vinyl. Its one of the best records ever made I think. Records are or of going extint anyways. If you can find it, buy the original Slippery when Wet album with the girls chest on the cover. Massive clevage and you can see half a nipple through her torn shirt. Its out there but hard to find. It was changed to that water cover you see today.

Also the Leathur records release of Motleys too fast for love. Its got a different mix of Livewire, and two songs that didn't make the Electra issue. Stick to your guns and geeze another ... I know ill think of it after I log off.

The original issue of appatite for destruction has the rape scene on the cover. It was banned and changed to axls tat with the cross and bands skulls.

Lita Fords Out for Blood album also has a bannned cover. Her first solo album originally had beautiful Lita standing in a spider web of chains with a guitar busted on half bleeding. She's clad in leather and studs. It was changed to her just standing there with a guitar on her shoulder sideways. Kind of looks like Litas guitar is a hard on. The album isn't mixed good at all. But its still Lita in all her beauty.

For some unknown reason Poisons open up and say ahhh was deemed offensive. The original cover has the cat/person whatever face in full view. It was censored and blacked out only showing the eyes. I was never a big fan of poison anyways. I bought the original cover just because it was different.

The Scorpions Love at First Sting was altered too. Originally the cover had a pic of a woman geetting a tat of a scorpion on her leg, the pic depics her doing pre sex foreplay with the dude doing her tat. Her tit is half shown as he's aping all over her. It was changed to a pic of the band walking. This was the second vinyl by the scorpions to be deemed offensive. The Lovedrive record with the girl and dude in a limosuine with her topless on the ffront and on the back cover he's got sticky bubblegum stuck from one of her tits to his hand.

These are all great albums if you can find them at your local used vinyl store.

It got stupid what some people thought offensive back in the 80s.

lol what i think is kool is that now youll notice that a lot of bands are actually reissuing their music on vinyl. Hell even when i picked up shout at the devil, it was a vinyl reissue which i thought was awsome. And thanks for enlightening me on the album covers shadow of a doubt, i only knew of the poison issue, so thats made me learn something new about the genre i love today ^^ and metalrulesall i totally agree ^^

These were the days when hard rock and metal actually were relevant. The PMRC had pull with the record companies. What had me laughing even back in 1983 when Motleys Shout at the Devil record was a new album. Right there under the 5 pointed star WARNING: MAY CONTAIN BACKWARDS MESSAGES. friggin stupid. The warning alone would make people want to buy the record just to hear what it says played backwards. My record player wouldnt play backwards or the stylis would get fucked up, but my mother and dads old 1960s turntable did. I was one of the many teens who actually spun the album backwards. Same with Iron Maiden on their Piece of mind album. Its gibberish at the end of side 2 I think as I remember when played foward but backwards its got a message. The backwards message warning on Crues record was all Motleys idea, since Iron Maiden didnt have such a warning on Piece of Mind. Keen marketing sceme for rebelious teenagers.

wasp has EXPLICET LYRICS PARENTAL ADVISORY warning tag on their Live ... In the Raw. That was the PMRC pressing the record company. Once The Last Command album gained steam in album sales the PMRC ( Parents Music resource Center ) attacked WASP and Blackie Lawless by name in their stupid speeches and information booklets theyd hand out at concerts and record stores. Even picketing hard rock concerts reading bible verses via a megaphone to people standing in line waiting for the arena doors to open telling concert goers how its not too late to repent from WE ARE SEXUAL PERVERTS. Course nobody gave 2 shits about their bible or anything else about them. But Tipper Gores group went after alot of bands. Claiming Kiss was an acronym for KNIGHTS IN SATANS SERVICE since the majority of Kiss songs were about making love.we all know that Kiss isnt satanic but the PMRC went after them anyways.

Sorry to get so far off topic LOL

Theres the 12 inch singles too. Guns N Roses had The 45 shaped like a gun, side one had paradise City and the flip side has Its so Easy live. Its cute. The 45 shaped like a suitcase , side one having the Mr Brownstone single flip side had My Michelle. Motley released the song Dr Feelgood as a single, I had the 45 shaped like that sword , snake wrapped around it with wings. The flip side had Without You.

metalrulesall, im sorry but I disagree with you on how music being a harmless form of art. I believe music is at least for hard rock/metal is a release for the band or singer. They write songs when ideas are born. Its an out for them to arrange the music to their words.

But I dont buy this with rap or gangster rap. I seriously think violent rap has a real after effect on todays young people. Glorifying drugs, violence and degrading women. Kids hear this stuff and actually want that lifestyle. What is so sad is that the rappers sell this crap to the kids, getting rich even from kids while much of the time preeaching how life is so hard in the hood or how women are hoes. I see them as such hyprocrates. Kids arent dope dealers or addicts, they arent born degrading women or to shoot people. They arent born hating people for no reason. They are taught to by their role models or peers. This rap shit distorts reality from fantsy for many young people.

i agree with that last part about rap...and what i ment when i said music(and i ment good music not the bullshit they got now a days)is a harmless form of art is that to me,its harmless because its up to the listener how they re act to a certain song or how they interprit a certain songs in there own heads ya know what i mean ?..4 example, when ozzy made suicide soluiton im sure he never actually ment 4 anyone to listen to it then go kill themselves ya know ?...and alot of the songs we listen too such as with out you and because the night actually have a good message behind them and songs like loud n clear or crazy train are just great regardless...thats my 2 cents

lol i so agree about the rap issue, its sad that these dudes glorify murder and drugs and sell this to kids. Also its kinda funny cause the whole issue with metal/hard rock still applies to modern day society. in my own personal experience, i went to an adventist school, and i was the one listenin to metal/hard rock, dressin the part and man look what came out. people quoted bullshit verses, gave me evil looks and even some of the teachers tried to convince me of the 'evils of metal' which still didnt work, made me listen to it more. I also still think its a relevant genre but ur right not like back then. and to metalrulesall, im not sure where you get them, but i know that over here in australia i got mine from jb hi fi, thought it cost me $30 just for shout at the devil. Lol im lovin the convo this got into, really do ^^

Desperate people turn to religion as a crutch. When all else fails they will turn to " god " or whatever suprime being and beg for guidence. Give the people what they want and they will always want more. At the time in the 80s some Tv preacher Jerry Falwell maybe or oral roberts saying on late nite Tv that unless he got five million dollars in donations that god would call him to heaven. The money poured in. He made his goal. Condemming nightly that devil music rock and metal bands was warping the youth of the day. Using examples like when Ozzy bit the head off a live bat onstage, or him getting arrested for pissing on The Alamo in Texas, guns n roses starting a riot in St Louis and in Montreal Canada. People who watched just ate this up. Then would turn out at the Crue show or the Metallica or Kiss concert to preach to the teens to read gods word in the bible and destroy the records and tapes of these smut peddling satan worshipers. Judas Priest and Ozzy Osbourne were in fact slapped with lawsuits for their " influencal " lyrics whom the parents claimed led to the sucide of two unfournate young people. The federal courts laughed at the lawsuits and tossed them both out. The bands songs whatever the meanings were protected under americas freedom of speech. It is a shame thoes killed themselves but a deeper look into their lives showed a pattern of poor behavior, depression and so on. I'm not justifying anyone taking their own life, a song taken out of context by an already troubled teenager is not souly responsible. But the people who believe that a preacher on Tv or in rreality eat everyword up. When in fact many of these " mouths of God " are in the back room counting the money they get from people in desparation, or are secretly touching children and cheating on their wives. They use rock and metal band condemnation to distract from their own faults.

thats what i dont understand you had mentioned that "When in fact many of these " mouths of God " are in the back room counting the money they get from people in desparation, or are secretly touching children and cheating on their wives"...im pretty sure that shit is alot worse then any lyrics from any rock/metal band you'll find today or even 20 or 30 years ago for fuck sakes !

Its how they dress , the lyrics , the album covers ... the whoe bit there was a major big deal of that " devil looking figure " that's on nearly every Ronnie Dio cover. When in fact Dios lyrics are some of the most inspirational songs ever put on paper then on vinyl. Ignorant people don't pay attention to detail. They a lot of times go with whatever some preacher says. I'm using Dio here as an example because they came out in force to demonstrate the mans funeral. Dio was one of the very best people you'd ever want to meet. Even in death Dio attracted the ignorant bible thumpers.

its pretty bad that useless bible beaters have nothing better to do ?...theyd rather worship a fake god or a phalse prophet then take a closer look and realize our music isnt really as bad as they like to think it is

i own lots of them. and the best of vinyl is that there are a lot of bands from the 80's who just made one album. They brought it out on vinyl and not on cd. THAT bands are really cool to have on vinyl, nobody knows them but there have been some really good bands out there.

Really the quality of vinal is better then CDs, its not compressed down as much. You can also hear things on a record that you can't hear on a re-released cd. But I understand what you mean about the crackling.

    My list would be,
    1. Motley Crue- Shout At The Devil
    2. Motley Crue- Dr Feelgood
    3. Guns N' Roses- Appitite For Distruction
    4. Def Leppard- Pyromania
    5. Guns N' Roses- Live like a Suicide EP
    6. Ratt- Out Of The Celler
    7. Kix- Kix
    8. Van Halen- 1984
    9. Poison- Open Up And Say Ahh...
    10. W.A.S.P.- W.A.S.P.

Theres a whole lot of others I would want too, but those were some glam ones I could think of. I have #3, 4, 6, 8 and also, G N' R lies, Van Halen drivers down and a few others I can't think of at the moment aswell as other non glam metal bands like Iron maiden and stuff.

Spike if you look, look hard enough you can still find an original copy of Guns N Roses Live@Like a Suicide. Its outthere. But it was only made into 10,000 pressings when it was first issued 1986 , long before Sweet Child O Mine was even thought of. I had just seen a genuine copy at The Record Vault, a collector vinyl store here. Its a true issue of the very first GnR album, they wanted 4000 USD for it. It was in great shape but was a used album. Im surprized at the cost since the momentom for Guns N Roses is long gone. Id have expected to pay that much for it back in 1987 when Appatite for desytruction was hot. Album being the loose term, since its only got 4 songs on it. I dont have that kind of money to spend on albums. The songs on it were also put on the GnR Lies album.

Live Like a Suicide is for that Guns N Roses fan who absolutly MUST have all things Guns N Roses. That is if you can find it.

At last! The ac/dc ballbreaker album!!! collection quiet complete. Not 100% cause you still have the australian albums and the newer albums like stiff upper lip and black ice. but it's complete for the vinyl era (pre '93).
