Petition to stop Motley Crue playing Canada

Stop the moral degradation of the community

The city and residents of the community of Sarnia-Lambton should not be exposed to such trash as Motley Crue. The degradation and the immorality of the community with the promotion of such an event is astronomical. Our community is worth more than this.

This letter is to mobilize people and groups of people to rise and address this issue and to challenge them publicly to have it stopped.

To the evangelical community to take a stand on the immoral issue of this event.

To the council of the City of Sarnia and the mayor based on proper use of the Sarnia Bay area and on behalf of the ratepayers to cancel this event.

To the service clubs of the area who have taken an ethical vow in their organization to take a non-financial position against the event.

To the government services that promote non-abuse of persons and lifestyles in the community, to speak out against the event.

To the protection agencies that combat drug lords, sex abuse, beatings, murders etc. There is no dollar value to a life facing drug abuse, AIDS or a wife, daughter or granddaughter being abused. To the religious community to take a stand regarding the moral issue with this event.

This is a morality issue. The answer to the above challenge will be yours as a group or individual to carry on for eternity.

Eternity never ends. What are you going to do?

WTF is going on at the moment Backyard babies and Hardcore Superstar have faced the same bias after being pulled from a festival in China the authoritiez claiming that glam and sleaze music promotez drug and alcohol abuse, promiscuity and is anti educational. Lol, I sent that article to a few friends. We were talking about how "Home Sweet Home" always makes us want to beat our girlfriends and how we got AIDS the first time we listened to Dr. Feelgood. I fucking can't stand ignorant evangelical types. I have a lot of nice things to say to these people.

Haha, I remember when the Sex Pistols were on Bill Grundys show and he said "nothing like those nice clean Rolling Stones"..

Motley Crue are all sober now, I bet half the bands they'd consider to be "lovely" hit the drugs and party just as hard (well not that hard, but quite hard nonetheless) as the Crue did back in the day.

It is truly amazing how ignorant some people can be. 20 years ago, when Crue was still a very 'deviant' group in what they did, it might have been different. . .I don't know though, I went to their concert, listened to their music, I didn't become a druggy, become promiscuous, or let my grades drop. I had one side of the family that understood all that. As far as the other side, well, just like that little town, FUCK THEM!

Motley Crue In Ontario - Part 2 - Sarnia Observer Article

    By CATHY DOBSON
    The Observer
Bayfest organizer Michele Stokley wants Sarnia Coun. Dave Boushy to know
that a member of Motley Crue was once invited to the White House to talk
    about overcoming drug addiction.
"Nikki Sixx can speak in Washington but Boushy says he shouldn't come to
Sarnia? If you know nothing about the band, how can you judge them?" Stokley
    asked.
Boushy tried Monday to convince city council that the municipality should
have some say about which acts perform at Bayfest.
He said Motley Crue's off-stage antics are "pornographic" and could damage
    the city's image.
Council did not support him, and several members said they don't want to
become a censor board for outdoor events, even those on city-owned property.
Boushy's moral outrage over Motley Crue's July 10 appearance in Centennial
Park unleashed a flood of comment supporting the band on websites Tuesday,
    including The Observer's.
But his stance also prompted phone calls to the home of Gord Park,
the Mooretown grandfather who first drew Boushy's attention to Motley Crue's
    outrageous behaviour.
Park is appealing to churches, politicians, service clubs and protection
agencies to mobilize to stop such acts from performing in Sarnia.
Park said Tuesday he regrets the publicity the debate is generating for the
band. But it's a small price to pay to make a point, he said.
"My intent is to see how awake the community is to this. I'm not against
Bayfest but there should be a level of professionalism expected."
Churches, service clubs and councillors have already contacted him, Park
    said.
"There's been an enormous reaction and I'd say 99 per cent is in favour of
my opinion. People are saying this world is on a downward spiral. I'm not
just talking about Motley Crue, I'm talking about any kind of trash."
Park said he's disappointed council didn't support Boushy's attempt to have
    input on Bayfest's lineup.
"I just hope groups like the Women's Interval Home and other protection
agencies that combat drugs and sex abuse can handle the repercussions of
    what is being promoted."
Stokley said controversy over Bayfest acts is nothing new and she expects no
    trouble from Motley Crue.
"The band has been around for years and plays in many city parks,"
she said. "Motley Crue will arrive, play for 90 minutes and be gone."
Previous Bayfest performers created similar community concern, including ZZ
Top and Kid Rock, Stokley said.
"With ZZ Top, they worried we'd bring in bikers and Kid Rock was supposed to
be the bad boy from Detroit and bring all these rough Americans here. It
doesn't happen. This is Bayfest."Headliners like Motley Crue put Sarnia on
    the "rock-and-roll map," Stokley said.
Ticket sales have been steady but this week's controversy hasn't affected
sales one way or another, she said.
Mayor Mike Bradley said Tuesday that Boushy had every right to bring up his
    concerns at a council meeting.
"But we are not in the censorship business. I think we should be celebrating
Bayfest's 10th anniversary and remember there was opposition in its first
year when only 6,000 people were there.
"Now there are tens of thousands and we are very fortunate to have it here."
