What is THE BEST Motley Crue album? Period. All their albums have some sort of merit(except for "New Tattoo". I gave my copy away. Hated that one! Can't believe I missed Tommy on drums more than I missed Vince on vocals, because I love the Corabi Crue album!), but let's face it -- The Crue are at their best on 3 of their 9 albums...

***"TOO FAST FOR LOVE"(1981): With "Live Wire" opening & "On With The Show" closing, this one is great! Songs I never really cared for: "Come On and Dance", "Public Enemy #1" & "Stick To Your Guns". Result: 7 of 10 tracks are bad ass.

***"DR. FEELGOOD"(1989): This is a great album, with some of their best songs. PERIOD. However... It's a very uneven album -- "Slice of Your Pie", "Rattlesnake Shake", "Sticky Sweet" & "She Goes Down" are all lightweight tracks that simply don't belong next to powerhouse tracks like "Kickstart My Heart", "S.O.S.", "Dr. Feelgood", "Don't Go Away Mad" and the ballads "Time For Change" & "Without You"...even the 42 second "T.N.T." Result: 7 of 11 tracks are bad ass.

***"SHOUT AT THE DEVIL"(1983): THE CRUE AT THEIR BEST! There is only one weak track on this album--"Danger". With Allister Fiend's "In The Beginning" leading into "Shout At The Devil"! MTV hits "Looks That Kill" & "Too Young To Fall In Love"! The P.M.R.C. Dirty 15 member "Bastard"! The look into Tommy's future --"Ten Seconds To Love"(you know the lyric: 'I got my camera, make a star out of you...'). The best Beatles cover(to me),"Helter Skelter"! "Knock 'Em Dead Kid"! "Red Hot"! Even Mr. Mars got the spotlight on this one with the great "God Bless The Children of the Beast"! We haven't seen that since. Result: 10 of 11 tracks are BAD ASS.

"...So come now, children of the beast, be strong, and SHOUT AT THE DEVIL!!!"

It's a hard choice but I'm gonna pick Dr Feelgood with Girl Girls Girls just behind.

id have to say shout because it opened up the doors for motley's career as well as the doors 4 glam metal itself...how ever id also have to say dr feelgood simply cause it was there 1st number album and stayed at #1 for 152 weeks according to what i herd on the radio a few months back...and girls is some where in the middle

Dr Feelgood. Not musically their best, maybe, but they really pulled it together for that one. It was an important album for Motley Crue, but maybe not so much for us.

In terms of most crucial, I'm gonna say one of them that is not listed... Saints of Los Angeles.

    I'll explain...

They had their heyday in the 80s and very early part of the 90s as did most of our heros from that era. However, they all died after time. Sure some bands are coming back or still going but its nowhere near the success Motley Crue has achieved with all new material. SOLA solidified them as a powerful force in modern day rock music. This album has given Motley Crue their legacy, and not just left them in the dirt (pun intended) as a great 80s band.

    LOL!!!
    Your brilliant, Ms. Cleo

Crucial means critically imporant, I guess, for the record :D

MyOwnWay makes a good point. Saints of Los Angeles is an excellent album in a whole other way, but they havent changed their attitude nor their music, but just made some new stuff that sounds more today-ish. Some bands loose the essence of themselves, but make music. Some bands keep their essence, but stop making music, just albums. Motley managed to keep both.

That for me is a very tough question. Everyone in my opinion from "Too Fast for Love" to "Dr. Feelgood" are crucial, but if I had to choose one with a gun held against my noggin, it'd be "Shout at the Devil". Speaking of....

I'd say Shout at the Devil simply because one, it was the only album they had that didnt have a weak track, and two it was the album that put them over the top.

    Definatly Too Fast For Love.

I particularly love Tommys Drum sound on that album!
And I love the punk sound on it, probably my favourite Crue album to be honest.

When I started listening the Crue, Too Fast For Love interested me less than the other two albums, but now, I have a different opinion.

Too Fast For Love has such a perfect sexy sound, even too sexy, and Tigertailz2011, I also like the punk thing about it. Plus, I like "Stick To Your Guns". Don't really care either about the other two songs you've mentioned SIXX-AGAIN.

Dr.Feelgood is like an adrenalin shot, but it's flaw is, like u said, that it's uneven.

That meens that, to me, TFFL is a close second to Shout At The Devil. "Danger" is weeker than the others, but, rated from one to ten, "Danger" is a nine, and the rest of the songs are eleven :D so it's all cool.

Hmm well for me id say Shout At The Devil cause it was such a strong track, i listen to the album constantly and still dont get bored of it. though in all reality all the crue albums were good, except the one without vince neil on vocals. that one was kinda stupid to me. i did really like new tattoo though cause that had some awsome songs like 'She needs rock n roll' and '1st band on the moon'. lol sorry about my rant

However shout was the most crucial lol

not the best, but if u think about it,the most CRUCIAL crue album was SOLA.its what brought them back commercially.its not a metal album, but i think it was crucial for them to put out something that would appeal more commercially, and they succeeded.it brought them back up to topic.so,out of all the albums, the most crucial one,i believe, is SOLA. if they hadnt put that type of album out,i dont think it would have gotten the publicity it did. i think theres another thread on here where i say wat my fave one is.

Too Fast For Love.....The utmost crucial album for the Crue. It defined a new era of music that would take the world over. I remember watching Live Wire when I was about 12 and just looking in total awe!!! That was probably one of my first tastes of Glam

In my (tiny, confused and fucked up,twisted)mind Mötley Crüe did something that no other band (I can think of) managed to do,and that was create a 2nd album that was better than their debut."Too Fast For Love",is without a doubt a classic, but for me,"Shout.....",is superb beyond,"Too Fast...".But,just my opinion.
