We all know Steel Panther has recently brought a decent amount of attention to the Glam Metal genre. Some people i know see the attention as a straight up good thing because we want to spread the word about our music, others see them as a curse because they say that they make a mockery of the genre and prevent people from being able to take us seriously. Whats your take on SP?

Steel Panther is a lot like a local tribute band here in Dallas, TX called Metal Shop(in fact, I read that SP was at one time known as Metal Shop...), except Steel Panther has original tunes, as well doing covers. Steel Panther plays here from time to time at the House of Blues.

The look and show of both bands is tongue-in-cheek. It's a hard genre of music for anybody but us die-hard fans to take seriously, unfortunately. :?

But I'd rather see a glam tribute band play covers of the classic tunes, than see Panther playing their own glam-spoof original songs. It's a tad more insulting that way. Steel Panther is like the MAD Magazine of glam metal.

Both. I don't even want Glam to be big again, all the damn bandwagon kids are gonna go along with it, I like being the only Glam kidd in my city. Other than that, some of their songs off their Hole Patrol album are kick ass. Not too into their latest stuff.

I love those guys.I actually made someone sit thru feel the steel and they were disgusted.had to turn it off.he couldn't handle it.I honestly don't kno how someone could not like them.yea the lyrics r insane, but u gotta just try not to take it seriously and just laugh.I was pissed at him that he didn't like feel the steel, one of the best 80s metal sounding albums of all time

Death To All But Metal is pretty good. They had me at "f**k the Goo Goo Dolls". But the rest of their stuff isn't that great. And I definitely agree with what Sixx-Again said. They're making a mockery of a genre that really was nowhere as ridiculous as they make it out to be.

Great guitar, great bass, great drums, great voice, shittiest lyrics EVER. I love the band, they sound sick, and I listen to them a lot but I can't take them seriously. I'm no expert on music but I think if they took the time to write legit lyrics they would be a lot better.

Absolutely, Comet. The talent's definitely there. They could be another Crashdiet if they just got serious. :?

Since when does glam need to be taken seriously? If Steel Panther had "regular" lyrics they would be "just another band".

I see their music more as a tribute than a spoof.

I love those guys. Feel the Steel has been in regular rotation in my car for months now.

It shouldn't be taken seriously(that's what Thrash is for), but there is a difference between tongue in cheek and dick in cheek! I really doubt that is Poison or Motley Crue had gone to the "Fat Girl(Thar She Blows)" level of songwriting that they'd be half as big as they are!

We'll compromise and call them a 'Tribute/Spoof' band, which is probably what they consider themselves.

I'm not bashing them or their music. Just wish it wasn't so lyrically over the top. They're still great fun...for what they are.

lol i like em cause they really just embody glam in a modern form, they say what bands could not ages ago.

lol i also think its great that they are bringing attention to glam, cause it could bring it back to the form it once had, i mean it would be great to see a huge increase in glam bands this decade

I totally dig these dudes...I especially like the song "Death To All But Metal" I like how their slamming all this pop crap on the radio that everyone listens to with this song. Rock n Roll is suppose to be fun and that's what their doing. I would definitely check them out if they were coming to my town. I have always liked Tenacious D so that fit right in there!

I don't like them. I know they're trying to revive glam rock and that in order to do that they have an image and reputation to uphold, but I feel they focus too much on their image rather than the music. I find a lot of their lyrics funny, but their music isn't great if you ask me.

Well "SleazEc", whoever the fuck you are, I'm aware that they're a parody band- like I said I find their lyrics funny, but for me to like a band they have to be more than that. AND HEY, Y'ALL DON'T SAY THAT! Nirvana are great. Now go shave your furry back ;D
