I know with me its the constant bitching between bands and band members, keeping bands that I love from reuniting. Sometimes its the ego bull shit that keeps them from putting out good music or some of these bands embarrassment at the old stuff. Any pet peeves guys and gals?

People confuse it with other things such as punk rock or heavy metal way too much.
Also, there are alot of people in the scene who confuse how we dress with things such as goth, which really bothers me. BLAH.

When Glam bands deny they were glam. That fuckin pisses me off. Def Leppard for example. Same with Jay Jay from Twisted Sister. Even fuckin Tesla recently said they were never glam. Yeah, its kinda hard NOT being glam when you tease your hair, wear colorful clothes, wear leather or spandex and have Glam lyrics with cheesy glam music videos. Seriously, thats like having a colored mohawk, Doc Marten boots, tight jeans and a spiked leather jacket and saying you're NOT punk. Ridiculous. Another thing I have to point out is Glam shows nowadays. Why the hell are Glam shows always 18 and over??? Im only 16, ive missed so many great shows simply because they're always 18 and over. Me and a friend were going to a Ratt show in April at the Key Club in Sunset Blvd, and a few minutes ago I read it was 18 and over, so now we aint going! Same thing happened before with Dokken, Lynch Mob, Tuff, L.A. Guns, Faster Pussycat, Steel Panther, and Wildside. I swear that shits driving me insane.

Oh- and steel panther. They play good music, but they aren't really being serious. They're not real good droogies in my books.

That annoyes me too, Toodles! Fucking over 18 gigs!!

And; yeahh, I hate Steel Panther, hahaha. I think its funny how they take the piss out of Glam, but they're not really funny otherwise. They're lyrics are too obscene to carry any humour after a bit, and the jokes arent really thought out too well. Steel Panther are like the naff 'misses' from Hit and Miss sketch shows.

Spinal Tap did it alot better!

I hate the elitism, in Glam, sometimes - as RockLibertyWarrior himself pointed out at a time, even in our own camp, people think that anything outside of the 80s that doesnt have big hair and lipstick is crap!

Yeah--I mean, that's why they invented makeup, right? ;-)

Unfortunately, there does seem to be a time limit on glam--eventually you just about have to give it up. Well, either that or get a whole bunch of plastic surgery.

But that's part of why people "de-glam"--they want to show that they can make it without it. Too many glam bands gave the impression of not really caring about music (or at least leaving a lasting music legacy that went beyond Making It), and that gives glam a bad rep. So I guess that's what annoys me about hair metal.

Steel Panther worries me--they've got all the moves down and they're genuinely good songwriters and I think they're hilarious (at least for a while), but another Spinal Tap isn't what we need right now to lead us back to our own patch of the Promised Land. What are people gonna think of the rest of us now?

The main thing thay springs to mind is the fact that most normal metal fans take the piss out of 80s glam. I really fucking hate it when they call it "Cock Rock" or say it ain't metal.

I hate it when people call the Glam look gay, its just not. Putting a little bit of effort into looking kickass is not gay.

I cant stand the terms "cock rock" or "soft metal" used to describe hair or glam metal either. You cant call Dokken or Rough Cutt "Soft Metal"

Its because of the evolution of hardcore and screamo that fucks us all.this music isn't mainstream rite now,so there's only a handfull of kids that even kno about this stuff.because all kids hear these days that's classified as metal,is screamo and hardcore.so they go and assume that that's wat metal is.so when u say u like metal, they stereotype u and say,"oh,u like metal, pshhhh".they r totally oblivious to the fact that there is a history to metal.fucking retards! And as much as pantera is wat was said to be the "savior" to metal, keeping it alive during grunge or watever.its them that influenced most screamo bands,so we have them to thank for it.now I'm not saying I hate pantera, cuz I love 80s pantera and dime was a great shredder.but in conclusion, phil anselmo fucked us all by inventing scream metal

The 90s was a very heavy decade for metal and rock music. I don't think its fair to blame Pantera for "Scream Metal" as 'screaming' and 'hate' vocals have been around since the days of death, black and industrial metal. Many other metal bands were popular during the grunge period including Machine Head, Slayer, Fear Factory, Napalm Death, Carcass, Sepultura, Ministry, Rage Against The Machine, Typo O Negative and Korn. The later end of the 90s saw the rise of Slipknot, Linkin Park, Limp Bizkit, System Of A Down, Cradle Of Filth and the start of the EMO movement.

This new style of metal set the trend for an aggressive or darker sound. Many glam metal bands and artists decided to go with the heavier sound of the 90s and that for me is where I have to leave them to it. The days of melodic rock are long over and that fucks me off because something could have been done to save it!

I personally blame the record labels.

Oh God!!! I fucking hate screamo and hardcore. One time my ex dragged me to a stupid fucking hardcore show and this dumbshit in the crowd waves his arms around like some retard at the Special Olympics almost hitting me. I grab and tell him if he hits me even accidentally I would knock him into next week. He stopped and I ended up dragging my ex out of there. Yeah Melodic Rock was killed by Kurt and the record companies. I don't mind darker sound textures, but if whole songs and bands are constructed around this concept it gets annoying (Don't mind Slayer, Rage Against the Machine or Type O Negative). Sorry guys not a big Pantera fan either, glam Pantera yes, but not the thrash one.

If the biz could've saved glam-metal, why didn't they? Maybe they're as suspectible to the desire to be hip as the rest of us. Why just make money with Warrant when they could make money and be hip with Nirvana?

Besides, record companies (and others, like, say clothing companies) think in terms of either the latest trends or the most conservative tastes (because somehow the norm before the '60s is supposed to be "timeless"). There's plenty of blame to go around, not least to the bands themselves, who never stopped thinking about Making It long enough to think about leaving a legacy. By the time it happened (say, Extreme or Enuff Z'nuff), it was too late.

To say it's not metal isn't to say it's not good. Both sides keep forgetting that. Some reviewer once wrote that Ratt is musically a lot closer to Bachman-Turner Overdrive than it is to Black Sabbath, and I think he was right.

I don't mind the term "cock-rock" too much, and I don't mind that it's called "gay" (but I wouldn't, would I?) Heck, I wish more gay dudes did it--then I'd have some company. Most of them seem too occupied with "feeling normal" to be willing to, uh, expose themselves that way. As for "soft metal", well, I guess it's "soft" compared to blast-beat death metal--but these days that's what lots of people think of when they hear the word "metal".

This is legit. That bummed me out reading this. I cant imagine being so stoked on a certain music style and wanting to catch it and being too young for the show. Of all that was posted I give this an A+. Grab a guitar and knock on the back door, tell them youre with the opening act (find out the name) and let you in cause you have to get ready.

I don't mind the term cockrock so much. I mean, you can't stuff a zucchini down your supertight spandex pants and expect that no one makes a cock joke!

What bugged me most is how when grunge hit, a lot of bands anxiously tried to jump that bandwagon in order to keep their record deal. It simply doesn't work and it alienated a lot of fans, imho.
