I watched it, but I also pretty much left the TV on MTV during that time since it was music television back then. I think the the networks concept died when the glam scene started fading away from mainstream. Once hip hop and rap took over the channel the video's were a thing of the past.

its all nu metal now. well not even metal.. calling some of those bands metal is like calling kiss a hip hop group. but anyway.. yeah its all nu "metal" and hardcore/screamo emo bullshit. BUT vh1 classic's metal mania is always a goodie. no host though. just 3 hours of a straight metal.

The only things I've seen from it are a couple of interviews with Shotgun Messiah on YouTube. Oh, and I've got a GN'R interview on my hard-drive.

I didn't know it was so regular, I thought it was like once a month or something.

My son is into hardcore. It's on his Ipod now, and he doesn't blast it as much anymore. I don't remember seeing Headbanger's Ball. I never did watch music channels often.

Are there are good shows like this anymore? I need to find some stuff to record on the DVR to record and listen to when I cant sleep.

I've seen clips of people on the show, but never any glam bands (just people like Maynard James Keenan).I really don't think there are any good shows like that anymore on TV. Not that I've heard of anyway.

I remember Riki Rachtman from the Cathouse. He and Taime Down (Faster Pussycat) were roommates up on Bronson Ave. I think. We're talkin circa 1987.

I never did understand why Riki cut off his hair. And why he acted, in later interviews, as if he was ashamed of those days.

He hung out by the velvet rope at the Cathouse.Interesting fella.

The Cathouse was a great club back in the day.Disappeared for awhile...then reopened in some different locations.

YEAP. metal mania. thats pretty muchhhh it from what i know. and some other show on vh1 classic that i cant remember the name of. but they play all kinds of rock, some pop and metal from the 70s 80s and 90s whereas metal mania is just metal.

I loved Headbangers Ball back in the 80's, but they are absolutely horrible now!

They don't even play real metal or Hard-rock anymore, they just play Mall-Core and fake metal for trendy teenage posers who know absolutely nothing about taste or talent!

When I was a kid me and my dad watched that religiously when my mom wasn't around. I still have some VHS tapes laying around when we recorded some shows and I think I still have the one where Gn'R wrecked that set. lol. Such memories. yeah that show was pretty cool the key word is "was".
