Surely someone on here shares my little obsession with Hanoi Rocks, or at least appreciates them.

Got to say there new album isnt the best but there still amazing live and 12 shots on the rocks has to be one of the best come back albums ever.

and Michael Monroe can still do the splits, got to count for something (though a little bit painfull looking lol)

Total Hanois obsessive Street Poetry is a damn site better than Another Hostile Takeover but none of the newer stuff can hold a candle to the early albumz.

Another Hostile Takeover actually won me over in the end but it did take awhile. Kind of got better after seeing them play some of the songs live but cant listen to the whole album. Im hoping Street Poetry does the same but just cant get into it.

What can i say about the great Hanoi Rocks, it was with them and Motley that i got interested in the glam/sleaze scene back in the day in the mid 80's...So Hanoi means alot to me!

I've seen Hanoi Rocks a few times live, and i also seemed various Hanoi members live in various solo projects through the years!!

If you haven't u should really check out their new album Street Poetry is the best album they have done since they started again, i go as far and say this is in the TOP three of there albums...

To be honest I haven't even listened to the new album, but if it's good I'm down. I truly love their old stuff.

They're AMAZING. I love their 'current decade/era' songs better than the 80s songs, but you can't go wrong with either.

I think I'm going to see them in February :D

You ARE going to see them! with me!

Anybody else going to the Feb 29 gig @ Manchester?

I adore Hanoi. The only CD I don't like of theirs is Twelve Shots on the Rocks. Some of the songs make me cringe.

I'm going to the Academy 3 gig...but I've never been to that area of Manchester before. It's 2 months away but I don't want to get lost. Does anybody know where the building is exactly? How far from the train station?

I'll admit I'm not terribly familiar with them, but I do remember hearing some stuff I liked. Fashion sounds pretty good.
And one former member is in the Dolls now, so like them or not, I'll have to listen to one of them play when I see them next month...assuming I'm able to afford it.
The first I heard of them was ads in either Hit Parader or Circus back in the 80s, as I was looking for a Motley Crue interview.

And sadly, besides the magazine ads, I next heard of Hanoi Rocks after Vince killed Razzle(who I've just learned via Wiki was previously in a band with Nik Fiend, of Alien Sex Fiend...just how narrow is the supposed "gap" between Glam and Goth? :D ).
Very few of my Metal friends in the 80s liked Hanoi Rocks at all, and they hated the rumours that Mike Monroe was going to take over for Vince while he was in jail.
One of my first really dedicated Goth friends loved them, and had several of their albums, but I don't remember if she ever put them on when we were getting ready to go to the clubs.

    Edit: Oh yeah, nearly forgot..
Andy McCoy requested the friendship of my band/project on Myspace several months ago.
    I accepted, obviously.
It's cool to get requests from other musicians who sound totally different than me....especially famous ones, because then I can namedrop them and make myself sound like a sycophant!

He requested for my profile aswell - probably only because I had just added Hanoi on myspace.

Hanoi Rocks are definitely one of the greatest bands of the 80s

Michael Monroe turned down my request for an interview, though :(
