admittedly that's true..well, apart from us sucking....but to be honest alot more of the general public are able to recognise GnR over the Crue...it's not about chickens and eggs it's about what fries your individual brain! :D

By that logic, there wouldn't have been a Nirvana if there hadn't been a Motley Crue... anyway, I'm not saying Motley don't kick ass. Sure I love 'em, but if I gotta choose, it's Guns. They're simply the best rock band, ever, in my opinion. Who knows what would have happened if there hadn't been a Motley Crue. Maybe Hanoi Rocks would have got the credit they deserve. Besides, just cos people don't share your opinion, so what. It doesn't mean they suck. Live and let live, and have a nice day, won't you?

The Nirvana thing doesn't quite work...
It's more like "If there were no Wipers or Poison Idea, there would be no Nirvana"

Thanks for the feedback. You have a good point. Either way, the idea of no Nirvana makes me happy... and if that's not an oxymoron I don't know what is.

I'd say Crue. They were more together. Axl was and still is too dysfunctional. He should have been into grunge! 8O

He tried, but the best he could do was threatening Kurt when he was holding a baby....and dressing like a tweaker.

i think Axl rose is one of the better singers for all the bands of that genre but he just didn't seem to want to get it together. the shit he did was cool in the begeninning cause people thought he was just bein a rockstar but i think people got tired of his shit and thats why guns will never be that popular again. that and the original members despise each other. well, they all don't like Axl

Oh my god, such a good poll. I've gotta go with Motley Crue because they totally rock my world, but I still love Guns N Roses. In face, I just put a GnR poster on my door and I'm listening to Use Your Illusion right now. I'm just more for Motley because I personally like Vince's voice better than Axl's by a lot. After Appetite for Destruction I seriously couldn't understand a single thing Axl said. It's pretty ridiculous. And Vince Neil isn't the easiest to understand, but at least I know that he's saying words and not just muttering babble. That always bugs me with Axl. Like Motley's drumming better, Tommy Lee is a fucking rhythm machine and GnR just doesn't come close to him. I love Slash's guitar playing because he is one seriously intricate bastard, but it doesn't DO much for me. I listen to it and go "Wow, that really is awesome", but Mick Mars makes me shake with crazy happiness with his more simplistic but still killer riffs. You can't forget that Mick is the only guitarist for Motley while GnR has two, as well, because it helps GnR sound more complete, but the kind of mixed up quality of Motley is one of their great charms.

It's a really, really tough choice to put on a poll, but at the same time it's a no brainer for me. Motley Crue all the way! Long live Vince, Tommy, Mick, and Nikki!

I liked G&R when I first heard Welcome To The Jungle, and I liked them after Lies came out as well, but they wore thin pretty quick after that for me.
There was something too....I don't know if this makes sense..."brown" about their sound.
Not a race thing, but I mean like, most Metal and Glam bands sound either "grey" or "silver" to me(Metal-grey...sometimes black, Glam-silver, often glittery, depending on the guitar timbre), whereas a lot of Hard Rock, Southern Rock, Country..etc.
There's something "woodsy and rural" sounding in there.
Not a bad thing, just doesn't usually work for me.
Probably because I'm surrounded by rednecks.
Crue got closest to brown on Theater Of Pain, but followed it up with a silvery/black album.
.....this probably sounds like an acidhead, but I had these sort of sound/colour associations wayyy before I even tried pot.
Zep always sounded brown/yellow to me as a child.

Well, I don't know how to describe it really, the timbre of the sound mixed with the rhythms....it's probably a large part of why I became a musician.
A lot of musicians I've known have had similar experiences, although some did something similar with shapes or textures.

Haha, that actually kind of makes me glad to know that I'm not alone out there. I'm don't usually associate colors, but I do associate adjectives that don't make any sense to songs. It's kind of odd, but I'm always certain of the word that describes it when I listen to it.

GUNS N ROSES. GUNS N ROSES. GUNS N ROSES!!!!!!!!!!!!
Love Crue, but for me, noone can compare to Guns N Roses.
I will never love any band as much as I love them.
And I will never stop loving them.
Don't get me wrong, Motley Crue had some GREAT songs.
But honestly, I think Guns N Roses were better musicians
and wrote more meaningful song lyrics, if you've ever looked at some of them.

Crue, no doubt. I've listened to them since I was 11 (I'm 34 now). Their songs got me through some of the worst times of my life. I love the lyrics, and the boys are total eye candy. What more could a girl want? Guns is cool too, but I identify with Motley more.
